  • What if Mass Effect was a huge open world?

What if Mass Effect was in a new galaxy with new friends and enemies?

What if Mass Effect had a kind of weak story(also see Mass Effect 3)?

What if Mass Effect was packed full of loot resources and crafting that was completely meaningless?

What if Mass Effect was full of bugs glitches and and overall complete lack of any sort of care or polish that is expected from a game in a series of this caliber?

Mass Effect Andromeda seeks to answer all of these questions and in that regard it is a massive success.

This game is boring, there are no memorable moments that stick with you the way that the first two games did, there is no tension, happiness, any feeling at all, it's just a whole lot of blah.

  • While I thought the premise for this game was very interesting the actual scene to scene story didn't hook me at all.

There were so many ridiculous plot points: I won't talk about them all because spoilers but this one doesn't reveal anything: The antagonist's father owns a heating company, there is a part in the game where you are investigating his basement, one of the clues is a service report on the water heater, the service was performed by another heating company, wow.

The Bruce Wayne character looks like a clone of Sterling Archer and the whole time I played this game I couldn't help but think I'd rather be playing an actual Archer game.

Cringy scenes that dragged on too long; the whole Selina goodbye was not only pointless it was dreadful, like high school sweethearts saying goodbye for the first time.

  • This game didn't have nearly the same impact that the first one did.

It felt really easy, like most of the puzzles only had one possibility so it was less playing a game and more of just going through the motions.

Not very long, maybe an hour, most of the puzzles are done in under a minute and there aren't many of them.

    Extremely disappointing.

  • I don't usually preorder games and I think I was one of the few people that preordered this game, why does that matter? I was really excited for this game when it came out in 2014 and now 3 years later I am just getting around to finishing it.

The main issue I had that made me put the game down was mostly my fault, if you treat this game like a beat em up you get quickly overwhelmed and the whole game turns into a real brutal slog, I fell into this trap and took a fuck that game break.

The sequel brought me back and I had a lot more fun this time; the big difference was that I used all of the tools that the game provides, stealth, ranged combat, combo finishers, this tweak to how I approached the game massively changed how much fun I was having and allowed me to easily progress through the game. I honestly found the game to be a bit easy once I figured it out.

I was a bit disappointed by the nemesis system, it didn't really seem to make a big impact on my game at all.

The story was interesting, lots of middle earth lore.

I'm glad I came back to it, I enjoyed my time with it.

  • I really blasted through this one so it must be good.

I loved the visuals and the music. It has that special something that most Studio Ghibli project share, adventure, wonder, just something special.

Funny writing peppered throughout the game but the actual plot was a fairly basic young boy must save the world, there were some interesting twists but I hope they go for something more in the next game.

Combat is overly easy with the exception of a few boss fights which really pushed my mana to it's limit; mana was a real issue through most of the game and kept me from using spells in all but the most difficult encounters, that isn't very good design as far as I'm concerned and is probably my biggest gripe with the game.

Alchemy was slightly annoying also, most ingredient are rare and by the time I had found everything needed I already had better equipment and crafting consumables requires you to refer to a separate recipe book and memorize the formula... nope.

Even after spending 50+ hours with the game and finishing the story, there are still a tonne of secrets and post story content that only opens up after finishing the story, there is a lot to do and I definitely enjoyed my time with this game.

  • I appreciate the backstory they brought to life here and there were some interesting moments but this isn't a very good game on it's own merit.

If you haven't played the original Life is Strange, go play that, it's fantastic; if you have, then you are probably going to play this anyway so this review is essentially pointless.

The story is only partially successful, it has some touching moments, but they are buried under a heavy layer of nonsense. This is a prequel to the first game but it still left a crucial gap between the two stories which really disappointed me.

Chloe is really the only fleshed out and realistic character in the whole game, maybe understandable being the main character, but every other character is hella weak and really make the game suffer.

Not much gameplay here, more of an interactive movie than a game, there couldn't have been more than 7-8 very short sequences where you interact with the environment, everything else is just scripted scenes in which you can make dialog choices.

The first game was a revelation, and this game doesn't hold a candle to it.

  • They don't make them like this anymore.

It's really interesting to play old games for the first time, I can never tell if the game is actually hard or if the gameplay just doesn't translate to modern game sensibilities.

I was surprised by the tactical thinking that was required in some sections of this game; so many times I would charge in swinging and get my ass handed to me, then come back with a focused plan and beat the same encounter easily.

I've never said fuck so many times while playing a game before, I probably cursed more while playing this game than every other game I've ever played combined.

One thing I will give this game; if you play with discipline and learn from your mistakes, there is a real sense of accomplishment that is missing from a lot of games, I could really see my self getting better the longer I played.

I was surprised by how good this 13 year old game looked given it's age.

  • hyper-girly

It's one of those games that you end up with through some bundle deal or Steam sale that I wouldn't normally go looking for but for some reason I keep coming back to this one.

I've never played a game quite like this before, it seems really simple at first then the game throws a bunch of curve balls at you and then you are dead; over and over and over again.

It was fun learning the traps and how to avoid them as I progressed through the story.

The branching story was most impressive, it really feels like a very different experience each time you play, it's almost like this game is the answer for the complaint most people have with Telltale games; the choices actually matter here and things you do early in the game can have a massive impact on how you progress even in late game.

Not really a big fan of the aesthetic, it was well done, just not for me.

  • I was enjoying this game much more than the first one, it looks better, plays better, more interesting elaborate puzzles.

I was right up until the final boss battle; whoever is responsible for the mess is a pile of fucking garbage, ruined the entire game, I've never played such a shitty sequence in all my years, what an abysmal end to an otherwise decent game.

    RUINED

    THE

    FUCKING

    GAME

    nothing but disgust...

  • I knew this was a psp game but it was still jarring how bad it looked compared with the first two games.

Other than that I quite enjoyed the game, they made some smart choices with the controls and it felt good to play after I worked everything out.

The story was quite good, definitely on par if not better than the first two games.

    Boss fights were good.

Overall pretty good game, I would say a good candidate for a HD remaster.

  • This is my 4th God of War game finished in the last few weeks and I wonder if I might be getting a bit burned out on this series.

It's funny that this game is the most modern in the series by far, looks amazing and had the most interesting story; yet I found it to be a bit of a drag to play and I have no idea why.

It's almost like everything is better but somewhere along the way the charm was lost.

This game is certainly the easiest one so far; I can't imagine I died more than 5 times while playing this game to the end compared to the first 2 games where I certainly died over 100 times in each.

If anything I guess I prefer the rage the first two games inspired in me to the empty rage of Kratos in this game.

  • This one got me.

Gameplay is typically simple for this type of game but it manages to do some interesting things.

I'm not a big fan of the visuals, but they are unique and that's cool.

Builds into a fairly intense tearjerker.

Not much more I can say without spoiling the game; it's 3 hours well spent.

  • This game looks markedly better than the first PSP God of War it's amazing they both came out on the same system and not that far apart on release date, they should have probably held this for a Vita release game.

Though this game looks much better it plays pretty much exactly the same as the first game and the PS2 games, it's combat heavy and puzzle/traversal light.

Probably the easiest game in the series, some of it is just me getting a bit better but I hardly died in this game and when I did die it was from the environment not combat.

The story was decent; maybe a little silly to be introducing a character that is supposed to be so important to the back story that has never even been mentioned before or since in the chronology.

I didn't like the magic powers in this game at all, coming off of GoW3 where they did some really interesting stuff with the magic, it's really disappointing here.

    Another good GoW game.

  • Feels like this game tries to get back to be more like the first two game with a good mix of combat and puzzles and less big boss battles that dominated 3 and I think that is a good direction.

The only problem is that the combat is simplified in this game, it didn't feel like there was much execution, just a bunch of mashing.

I think it looks great, some great action sequences.

Not too many people playing multiplayer now, I was able to get a match in and it seemed really dumb.

  • This game is easily the best VR experience I've had to date.

As far as the game is concerned it's a simple adventure game presented as a fairytale about a mouse that must make a journey to save a family member.

You control the mouse with a standard DS4 to rum jump and some minor combat. Also your cursor is activated with the shoulder buttons to manipulate objects in the world and complete various puzzles.

The game make takes an extreme twist towards the end which was very interesting.

The only thing that really put me off was the fact that this is part 1 of a supposed series, it's quite short which isn't necessarily a bad thing for a VR game but I don't really like going in thinking I bought a complete game and then finding out at the end a surprise that this is only part one.

  • This game accomplishes the amazing feat of being incredibly short while at the same time feeling like it was far too long.

This game is incredibly boring, slow and not scary at all.

The whole time I played it I was on the verge of having the VR sickness.

The only thing this game has going for it is the branching paths but I really can't see myself playing this game again to see what they may be.

  • Initially I did not have a very good impression from playing this game. Coming straight off of playing the rest of the series it's very clear that this game is something completely different. Whether you like or dislike the previous games in the series one thing GoW was very successful at was having it's own identity and I feel that has somewhat been lost in this offering dropping it's combat frenzied anger simulator to become another Naughty Dog adventure.

Once you get past all that it's a fine game.

Gorgeous world, absolutely fantastic characters and acting, mind blowing presentation overall.

I enjoyed the story but it very much felt like the first arc of a three part story, as the game ended it didn't even feel like the big bad had even made an appearance yet.

The talents/equipment/upgrades didn't feel impactful, if I had money I bought them if not it really didn't seem to matter.

The combat seems like it should be more tactical than previous games and when I played trying to be mindful/purposeful I was having a hard time and dying a lot, once I gave in and just started jamming on the controls it became much easier.

Despite it's flaws or my expectations, this game definitely won me over and I'm looking forward to more.

  • I'm not a big fan of FPS games, especially on console and this was my first Far Cry game, It came free with my Xbox 1X so I gave it a shot.

I thought the story was decent, each of the 4 antagonists were well done to the point where you could understand their point of view beyond just being flat out evil. The boss fights were good, but fuck those silos, especially the first one.

There is a wide variety of tools available in combat, I normally ignore these in other games, they seem to be crucial in this game and once I started using them the game had a much better flow.

Lots of bizarre side stuff that I wasn't at all expecting; not since the Burning Crusade have I been tasked with searching piles of poop for a quest item.

Though the game has a bit of a rough on-boarding, once I got the hang of things I enjoyed my time with this game.

  • I enjoyed this game.

I'm filled with an overwhelming urge to defend this game which I realize is very silly; I think because this game tells a serious story and portrays itself as something important, a work of art rather than a product created for a child's amusement; that many will hold it to a higher standard which it couldn't possibly meet.

Taken for what it is, this is a video game with an above standard story that takes you to an interesting sci-fi future and presents some intriguing scenarios and choices to make on your way to crafting your own personalized version of this story.

The game looks fantastic, the world and characters are almost photo realistic.

The actual game play is mainly world exploration, quicktime events and dialog choices, not very exciting but it is truly the best example of this genre from that perspective.

The addition of a chapter by chapter flowchart mapping out your story and giving the player control to go back and easily alter the story is a great feature, after I finished I went back and played a few of the scenarios multiple times and saw how much each scene could be altered, very cool.

    Great experience.

  • This game looks great, I loved the world that they created and I enjoyed the music.

This game has been described as an X-Com like game, it is in only the most basic sense; while I enjoyed the game I was disappointed with how simply it was and the lack of progression, you have all your abilities from the start and all upgrades to weapons and abilities were just bigger numbers.

The game felt really long, there are a lot of battles and they are mostly the same enemies with bigger numbers vs your team doing the same moves with bigger numbers.

Of the 8 playable characters, I really only used 3 regularly because they were the only two with healing abilities which felt necessary for a lot of the battles, I would have loved to use the different characters with their new abilities but it never felt like a reasonable trade off.

I've never played a Rabbids game before I was worried they would be annoying but they were just fine. Rabbids opera put a big stupid grin on my face.

I found the difficulty to be a bit odd for the most part it was extremely easy but there is a stretch in the middle of the game that can be pretty brutal.

After you finish the game, they add a bunch of challenge maps, I tried the first one and it was brutally hard, not sure I want to spent the time to grind up to be able to do these challenges.

  • The story was interesting enough but I was expecting more based on the reverence people have for this game and my experience having already played Bioshock Infinite. The long build up to what was an extremely lame final boss fight was really disappointing.

The game plays well, there are a lot of combat options and the game gives you reason to use everything.

Even playing the remastered edition on PC, I feel like this game hasn't held up very well visually other than the big daddies the enemy design is pretty boring.

The big daddy/little sister is easily the most interesting thing about this game and I really wonder how the game would have changed had I handled things differently.

The PC port seems fairly buggy, I had a lot of crashes when opening the in game menu.

The sound design was good, but I wonder if it was screwed up in the remaster or not, throughout the game enemies that were across the level would sound like they were right next to me and talking on the radio was barely audible no matter what I did with the volume levels.

Towards the end I started to feel like there was so little consequence to dying that I started to melee alot to conserve ammo that I would surely need for the final boss (I didn't) but getting to that realization kind of broke the game for me.

Better late than never? Probably not.

  • I played this game obsessively for 2 days then deleted it in disgust.

The only reason this game even came on my radar is because of the Bethesda lawsuit over this game's similarity to Fallout Shelter; I haven't played Fallout shelter since the week it came out, while I had pretty much the same reaction to both games, they are nothing alike.

Westworld is a very busy game, there is always something to do, always something leveling up, some new quest, it's quite intoxicating until the phone battery dies; which doesn't take long, my phone battery regularly lasts 12-24 hours depending on how much I'm using it, this game takes my phone from 100% to dead in 45 minutes, this game isn't graphically intense, there doesn't seem to be any good reason for it to be such a hog.

It also takes a really long time to load up, a mobile game needs to be happening within a few seconds this game seems like it takes forever to boot up.

The one thing that really grabbed me was the fact that there seems to be an ongoing story in this game which is unusual for this type of game, the amount of grinding required to see the story through is not worth it in my opinion.

  • The fan on my PC gpu died a few days ago so I've been playing some mobile games.

I gave this one a shot because it described itself as a story based idle clicker, it turns out that that was exactly what it was and it also seems to be something I don't want.

My one major complaint is that this game is far too short, I finished it over the course of a day opening it up maybe 6 times playing for 5-10 minutes each time, so less than an hour really.

It's not much of an idle game either it's just too short to have any strategy to it and I get that but it's still lacking for fans of idle games.

I liked the premise and the strangeness of it all, but the conclusion was disappointing, I honestly thought the game was just getting started and it turned out to be the end.

  • This game is a real mess, I’m not a FF or jrpg fanboy but I’ve played over half the games in the series and enjoyed all of them up to now.

The best way I can put this is: you know how everyone complained about how long it took FF13 to get going; that is all this game is just meaningless busy work waiting for the game to get going and then out of nowhere it just ends. It's a real shame because I can see the ambition here but it just feels like they focused far too much on the open world and not enough on everything else. When you dump all your work into one basket, it better be good, the open world in this game is not up to par, it feels old, unintuitive, boring; who thought it was a good idea to spend half the game on autopilot driving from mission to mission.

Graphically, the game looks dated already, certainly not up to the high standards set throughout the series.

What is loot? I must have collected 500+ drops in the world and I never ended up doing anything with it, when the game ended, this really pissed me off that I spent so much time seeking and collecting for nothing.

This game is ridiculously short for a FF game, when you consider how much open world filler there is, it's down right insulting.

Terrible characters, the forced emotional moments between the group members was really dumb.

Not much story at all, whiny dudes, nonsense villains, endless roadtrip to nowhere leading to a false happy ending? Give me a break

Combat consists of holding down one button, I'm not a fan of the souls type games, but most games seem to be going in that direction and for this game to go in the complete opposite direction is baffling. It’s like an action based combat system with no skill required. The party member contribute absolutely nothing to the general combat and when you call on them to do something it takes control away from you and that feels bad. There was never any fear of danger or failing. Summons are restricted to cut scenes that close out some key battles and aren’t really a factor.

This game is a bad single player MMO with no progression.

  • The game an modern evolution/interpretation of traditional adventure games.

I don't think obtuse puzzles play well in this day, there is alot going on and it's very easy to miss objectives and waste a bunch of time; I didn't miss much but when I did it wasn't fun.

The story was interesting, but being part one of a three part story that seems like it will be 3+ years between episodes is a bit of a bummer.

Great world and characters, very engrossing, this is the best part of this game.

The controls are a bit much, when you have a full inventory there is a lot of cursing around, a smart item select would have fixed many issues for me with the difficulty and controls.

I think this game will be a much better experience once all episodes are released.
