Alex having a problem with someone making a snarky comment during Blizzcon about the new Diablo right after the Beastcast's 15 minute trash talking rant on The Quite Man is more than a little ridiculous.

I'm failing to see the comparison here like, even in the slightest. You'd have something if say, the Beastcast had someone from the development team on for a Q&A and proceeded to be dicks to them, but that's not what this was. They're making fun of a game that they've already played because it's bad, half released and racist during a podcast where it's their job to goof around and talk about games. Diablo: Immortal isn't out yet, it was a segment designed for questions and answers, and the question asker was kind of a dick to a dev in front a huge audience.

@sethmode They weren't just talking about the game but the devs themselves, sure they were joking, but they were being dicks about it when they brought the people into it, yeah it was weird and not a good game, but I'm sure a ton of work went into it. Besides even that I find it funny that people who for almost twenty years partially make a living off being smart asses about other people's work find it distasteful when someone else is being a smart ass.

@belowstupid: There's an extremely wide gulf between criticizing a finished (absolutely awful) product--and yes, the choices made by the developers themselves--and getting up on a mic at a fan event and making a dickish comment because they announced a mobile game. I'm well aware that we spend a lot of time making cracks about the industry, but the context here is way different, and the comparison is pretty ridiculous.

Last Beastcast, Jeff missed or dismissed Abby saying "maybe I have 3 in the soundbar and two speakers behind me."

Abby didn't clarify at any point again about the extra speakers when Jeff initially missed that point.

They both had a miscommunication. That's life. Everybody get over it.

A sound bar with rear speakers is still not 5.1. No appology was necessary. Also unnecessarily crying racism on a video game, again. Not surprising anymore, but annoying.

1. Microwave pizza rolls is the only way to go.
2. Microwave Indian food is the best cause it is sauce based.
3. I literally bought a new stir crazy popcorn popper yesterday. Been looking for a new one. They seem to finally be showing up in stores now that Christmas is approaching.

Some comments on the Red Dead discussion:

I struggled with the dueling mechanic all through RDR 1 and was having initial problems with the new system so I checked out a YouTube video on it, practiced it a little (TIP: You can practice it at any time) and have had zero issues since. It's a fair gripe to level at Rockstar that they didn't explain it well enough but it was quick and easy to find an explanation online.

Secondly, I think it's also a little unfair to claim that the game is not entertaining for large stretches. If you go out and explore the world there is something cool around every corner be it an encounter, a stranger mission, some cool piece of environmental storytelling, hunting etc. If you get sick of that the quality of the story missions is excellent so you can go and knock off a few of those to get your fill of gunfights, train robberies, bank heists etc. I find it a bit of a double standard that Breath of the Wild received so many plaudits for its world last year yet many of the same criticisms could be leveled at that game. Much of the praise for its open world was in the way that it encouraged and rewarded exploration. I loved BOTW but let's be honest, mostly the rewards for exploration were a korok seed, treasure chest or enemy encounter. The rewards in Red Dead are infinitely better and more varied and the world looks far better too. BOTW was also praised for it's open spaces and how this magnified the impact of the discoveries, yet with Red Dead this is a point of criticism that the game is allowing for a similar space to breathe?

Finally, I know it's not easy but there were some big RDR 2 spoilers again this week. Some of the game's biggest highlights for me so far have been the discovery of the serial killer and the swamp people. Shame that many people have been denied the same experience.

I’m excited to get my own copy of Batman TAS this week, easily one of my favourite series ever.

Rockstar didn't squeeze an extra special something out of the Xbox One X. The X has had a significant advantage in most third party games for a while now. Where have you guys been?

I dunno, I thought that Diablo wisecrack was pretty tame, and kinda deserved. They did something pretty damn boneheaded announcing something like that to a crowd of that calibur. If they weren't expecting that kind of response, I don't even know what to say. Maybe think about it for 2 seconds about how it could play out and construct a plan of response, not send some poor bastard out there to the wolves to present the thing and hope for the best.

Yeah, the duel system in RDR 2 is confusing. It says that the slower you do it, the more time you have after actually drawing to aim, but if you're too slow then your opponent will kill you. It doesn't make much sense. It's different from the first game, but I couldn't tell you how. All I remember was holding down on the right stick to move your hand down in RDR 1. The first time I encountered a duel it was a random encounter in Valentine, and I managed to shoot the guy's arm instead of killing him. The next duels I've encountered have only been the famous gunslingers questline stuff, and I have tried to hit their arms, but it seems impossible. Maybe it's harder because they're supposed to be famous gunslingers? I have no idea.

I ran into that same event that Dan described. The one in the swamp. It was my very first time entering the swamp area of the map, and I saw a guy hanging from a tree. As I ran up to it, 3 crazy dudes ran out and tried to stab/scratch/bite me. I had no idea what was going on. I killed them, shot the rope, and looted the hanged guy. Had a note on him talking about "Nite Folk." I was thinking that I guess it was something I was going to run into in the swamps. But I've played a bunch since then, even playing in the swamp, and I haven't seen a single one since. There was a mention of them in a newspaper article in-game, but that's been it. I've been wondering if it's actually a thing or if it's some weird reference to Undead Nightmare from RDR 1, because when I first encountered them I thought they were zombies.

I have never heard anyone pronounce it anything but Marie Calendar. Cah-lander does not sound right at all.

I must repeat what many others have already said: The omission of the Corrections theme was very disappointing. Abby? Vinny? See me after class.
