@dasakamov: A "deep cut" refers to a deep album cut, a song that's not very well known from a musician or group's overall body of work. So yes, it's commonly used to mean an obscure or otherwise less known reference.

@dougfunk15: You're mostly wrong. A person who drops 15 pounds in a month (at the beginning of their diet) will shed 5-10 pounds of water weight in the progress (I know you mentioned this yourself). That is absolutely to be expected at the beginning of a diet. That leaves 5 to 10 pounds max of fat burned in a month which is a completely healthy speed of fat loss. In fact if one is burning less fat than that in such a time period, they're basically just spinning their wheels. In Dan's case after all we're talking about a dedicated diet period instead of a lifestyle makeover.

If he should rather change his eating patterns completely is another issue entirely. In the context of a fat loss diet, his weight loss pace is absolutely fine.

Terrible Micheal McDonald impression. You gotta plant your tongue against the front of the roof of your mouth for every hard syllable to make it sound right.

Well thanks for accepting that some of the information I'm sharing is based on actual science. Whenever discussions IRL or on the internet pop up about weight loss, everyone suddenly becomes an expert or relates a story about a friend who did "X" crash diet which "worked" for them (before spiraling out of control once they go back to a regular dietary plan).

I'll again reiterate I wish the best for the health of everyone here- crew, forum users, anyone... Just thought I'd share my two somewhat more informed cents about the topic and clarify things a little bit. Later dude. :)

@dougfunk15: uh no i have not? i know you say you have experience, but aometimes people here harp on the staff's personal lives a little much so even if well meaning it comes across a bit too strong. but thanks for the advice, i suppose.

Great counter argument... Just shows you're not actually equipped to debate this with anyone who knows what they're talking about. I have a higher education in our common field and I'm 100 % certain I hold a supreme client base between the two of us. You sound like a person who chooses to ignore all the empirical evidence gathered from actually working with clients (all ages and types etc) and rather blindly follows the newest scientific trends to a fault.

Not once have I seen a regular fat loss regime have a rebound effect to the degree you're speaking of. In fact for many people, very strict diets (with an exercise regime obviously) are a necessity to actually achieve results in a manageable time frame.

Besides Dan is not on a "crash diet" when he clearly stated that he's "just not eating crap and exercising a lot". Doesn't sound like a crash diet to me. You're just assuming that because of the initial pace of weight loss which is really short sighted from your part.

Just to say Jeff was great on the Waypoint stream with Vinny and Alex helping Patrick and Austin launch the new site. The games they played were garbage but they jumped in because Eric Pope was delayed.

It was great to see them all together, though I missed Brad not being part of the group.

This sadly has devolved into a huge wang swinging argument over expertise and who is "properly equipped" to handle the discussion. Not responding to any more comments on this thread as it has gone absurd. Best of luck to Dan and his health goals.

What an uncharacteristically horrible comments section for such a great UPF.

I adore Mary's dedication to her costumes. I wish I had the drive to pull off something like that. And the excuse, I guess... we don't really do costumes, here...

@ripelivejam: losing 15 pounds/7kg over four weeks sounds like, objectively unhealthy, dude

For someone lika Dan, who is already active and regularly exercises it's not unhealthy. Doing it over a long period is however or if he let's his weight fluctuate then it could be unhealthy.

Just eating right and regular exercise would see you loosing a lot of weight. And going by what Dan said, he is doing just that.

And usually when you start dieting, the weight drops pretty fast in the begining and then it tapers off, especially when you start building muscle.
