I myself have not, but was told by the doctor in no uncertain terms that ear candles are made up snake oil bullcrap that won't remove earwax, but might well set your ears on fire.

Wow, that is interesting to hear about Jess' 9/11 experience. I was a Freshman and had first period study hall. When I walked in the teacher had the TV on and it was showing a building smoking. Then shortly after everyone was in class the second plane crashed. That whole day everyone was just watching the news in every class.

I know Jan's plan for the next season of Run 4/2 the Hills is to maybe make Jess play The Bouncer. But I think it's clear that what she's REALLY afraid of is exercise. So, if you can't get her to do Ring Fit or something, learning how to play and master a sports game could be great. Or terrible. Who knows!

I went to a family function recently and everyone did an ear candle. And of course I was the one being tut-tut'd for, like, no wanting to put literal fire on my ear. I fucking hate homeopathic bullshit and the way it has made everyone think that the body is like an idiot toddler that doesn't know how to take care of itself.

Whenever I get a bunch of crap in my iphone's charging port, I power it off and use a pushpin and just scrape it back and forth in there for a while, and eventually all the GUNK comes out of it, and it's always a surprising amount. You'd think "hey don't scrape metal in there" but you only end up doing it a couple of times before you get rid of the phone, and the back wall of the port isn't metal anyway.

Take care of your ears. I somehow got permanent tinnitus and it's hell.

the 10-minute 9/11 joke was a bit much

I almost ditched my ipod touch once because the ports wouldn't work anymore but it turned out the ports were just full of lint. I use toothpicks to scrape the lint out of ports like that and that makes it work fine again.

I'm an American who watched 9/11 happen on live TV in 9th grade, and I don't care about the joking.

I don't know what you think I'm talking about, which was the 10-minute 9/11 storytime positioned as a comedy bit. I'm not sensitive about 9/11 jokes, it was just extremely awkward.

@klecktacular: It was Jess reading her cringe diary bit that she found. The joke wasn't 9/11, it was laughing at how kids are awkward. The only person who made a 9/11 joke was Jeff. That's why I assumed you were talking about Jeff's joke, because that was the logical assumption.

The ear talk at the start really resonated with me. There was a period in 2020, I think, where I was basically deaf in one ear for about a week because there was so much gunk in there. And thanks to not having insurance (go America!) I couldn't see a doctor.

Eventually it got cleaned out through lots and lots and lots of useage of ear drops and those shitty baby suction things Jeff said to throw out.

I hate being a waxy individual. :(
