Once again, a shining beacon of incandescent, game-related light has sprung forth from the black expanse of employment information that is LinkedIn. This time, it's in relation to a potential sequel to one of last year's best games.

Alan Wake: The best psychological horror story about a damaged author and his terrible narrative creations come to life since In the Mouth of Madness.
Alan Wake: The best psychological horror story about a damaged author and his terrible narrative creations come to life since In the Mouth of Madness.
Though it has since been scrubbed of the reference, Eurogamer caught wind this morning of a reference to Alan Wake 2 in the resume of pre-visualization artist Althea Suarez Gata. During her brief stint at a company called Halon Entertainment, Gata evidently worked on in-game cinematics for the title. Lending a bit of credence to the information is the fact that Halon also produced the "Deliver Hope" advertisement for Halo: Reach, establishing that there is already a relationship with Microsoft in place.

Alan Wake's developer, Remedy Entertainment, has been on record as saying that they'd love to produce a sequel, though as of last year, they had yet to discuss the prospect with Microsoft. Eurogamer posits the notion that the alluded-to cinematic production could be related to some kind of E3 announcement from MS, but if Remedy wasn't even talking about a sequel as of last year, that might be a bit far-fetched. Still, I think it's safe to say everyone around here would love to see this sequel make some kind of E3 appearance--especially if we'll have to wait another five years for it to hit store shelves.

I hope they are making this game, I don't think it'll take 5 years as Max Payne 2 was something like 18 months after the first game. Well I hope to see it at E3 this year.

Not really, considering the rather poor sales that it reportedly had.

Oh, fuck yes! I was a little disapointed with the direction the game took in the end and then the DLC, but it was still a wonderful experience that I would like more of. Also, Old Gods of Asgard are still fucking awesome.

Alan Wake was cool but if they do another I hope they fix it's flaws.

This is something i'm game for but I cant help but say I'm a bit surprised as I thought the first one didn't do so well.

Maybe it did better when the price dropped. It seemed to but I don't know the numbers on that stuff.

I hope this is true for my sanity. The title and it's DLC left me confused as shit with too many questions and not enough answers to my liking.

Oh man, I sure hope this is true. I'd really like if there was a surprise announcement at E3.

The first game had loads of potential, and even if it didn't deliver on the original open world concepts it had great atmosphere.

Cant wait to see what brands they use in Alan Wake 2, product placement is brilliant - a popular brand of flares or stun grenades maybe or llisten to lime and the coconut on a zune.

@pornstorestiffi:  I doubt it will be 5 years. It will probably come out fairly soon. They will be reusing the engine and quite a number of assets. If Microsoft announces a new console and it is shipping on that, then we could be in a long wait for Alan Wake 2.

I maintain that Alan Wake suffered from some of the worst launch timing ever. Red Dead Redemption sucked all the oxygen out of the room when it came out.

Apparently it ended up selling a million copies.  Remedy are a reasonably small studio, so I guess they could have broken even on that, even with how long it took to develop.

Alan Wake was my surprise hit of last year. I got it through a sale and loved close to everything about it, and I especially grew to like a lot of the characters. The DLC wasn't all too fresh, though. It had too much emphasis on the combat which I was already a little fed up with before even the main game was up.

inanimate objects and bulldozers plagued by poltergeists was cool during the first few encounters but once it was virtually a standard mob enemy it lost its admirable creativity.

I didn't mind the combat as much as some people (I wasn't sick of it by the end)... But they better not make me do anymore platforming (DLC 2, I'm looking at YOU) in the next game or I'll hunt somebody down and hurt them.

Played the first one on the 360 and it was a pretty awesome game. Maybe this'll get a PC release? (An Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 PC double pack would be pretty cool, Remedy *hint, hint*).

A sequal would be great, I enjoyed the first game (although a few of my friends did not, it seems to be a game that have fallen into the marmite cattegory). Also, good pun Alex, I would be burnt out as well if this turns out to be false..
