Another Persona 5 Tidbit

Nothing official yet, but the fog is slowly lifting.

It's the '5' that gives it away, really. Heck, I can't even read Japanese. Maybe this says that he has five children.

Kotaku has a quick

story

about an interview with

Atlus

composer

Shoji Meguro

showing up on a mobile version of

Sony's site

. The interview apparently doesn't offer much in the way of hard details about upcoming products, but the introductory photo is accompanied by text that appears to say that Meguro is serving as the producer for

Persona 5

, which hasn't been officially announced or confirmed at all.

An error? Perhaps. Factually inaccurate? Heck, maybe. But when combined with the previous pachinko-related reports that also said something about a fifth game in the Persona series, this is all starting to sound more and more likely. Plus, Persona 4 has been out for awhile. It's just about time for another game in the series to be announced, regardless.

I'm putting my money on an official announcement at or around this year's Tokyo Game Show, which takes place in late September. Though I'd rather put my money into a

Chie

-focused martial arts action spin-off, now that I think about it.

Question for those who know Atlus better than I: how likely would this be multiplatform? I would love to support Atlus as well as play a Persona game in real time after becoming an ER addict, but I don't know if that would be enough reason to push me over the PS3 hump I'm still on the "Don't Own" side of.

Still going through P3, still awesome.

Persona 5 (for PS3, confirmed) better have WAY more voice work and WAY more sexual innuendos.

I'm pretty sure that you can ask most game critics and players of SMT games, that the series is very niche. The series has a cult following, not the mainstream success of FF and Dragon Quest games. 500,000 sold worldwide isn't that great when compared to other games. Also, I don't know where you are getting your information on the PS3 being the most unpopular system. I guess the people behind the ports of Tales of Vesperia and some other once exclusive 360 JRPGs to the PS3 didn't get the memo that you sent out because they are obviously thinking that they will see some success with the ports.

Also, what makes you say that Persona 5 on PS3 is going to bomb? It'll probably do a little better then Persona 4 which was/is Atlus' best selling game of all time. So yeah, I don't see where you are getting that Persona 5 is going to just die because it's on PS3. I just don't see it.

One more also, by your theory earlier that because Wii is super popular every where, then every single game is going to be coming on the Wii. So I guess we can expect a port of MGS 4 soon because Wii is super popular. That's just one of the games that should be ported over there that I can think of off the top of my head.

So I guess brand loyalty doesn't exist anymore too? Look at Splinter Cell Conviction, MGS 4, Mass Effect, and others. Plus, because PS3 hasn't done anything for Atlus then Atlus is just going to give Sony the cold shoulder? Sony has a whole has had a good relationship with Atlus and vise-versa. Persona series started on PS1. That's one of the reasons that we are seeing a PSP remake soon.

You really need to sit back, think, and do some research. You're whole logic and argument on this is just off.

Also I doubt that Persona 5 would have any oblique reference to the Endurance Run, unless there's a Damage Causing Item that the Localization team renames "Giant Bomb".

Which causes 150 Ice damage.

if you take the japanese characters before the number 5 and then look at a japanese title for persona 4, the japanese characters match, so it really does say persona 5 :)

Whenever this is revealed I expect it to be on both HD consoles, Atlus (Japan) has already been confirmed as a PS3 developer and they told Famitsu 360 that they're working with the 360 as well:

Well, the fact that the picture of the man reads: Pe-ru-so-na 5 - Pu-ro-dyu-u-sa-a. It pretty much clarifies that Persona 5 is in the making.

Let's look forward to the next time we get to hear Jeff saying: "I'm Jack Frost, ho!"

But Shoji Meguro has never been a producer. It could happen, but it also could be a mistake. It can't really be interpreted as a confirmation.
