Dragon Age 2: Origins: Origins

Weird art style change. I don't know if I like it. I need to see it in action. Also does the story have anything to do with the original? Seems like it will probably be good though.

Seems like there won't be any origin stories this time as your main character has a name and his own origin like Mass Effect. So maybe the MC will be voiced now??

Haven't finished the first one yet (damn you computer glitches!), but I'm betting this one is gonna be set in Orleis. Annoyed at losing my old character though. Unless they have your dudes from 1 and 2 team up together in 3. Or fight each other . Both of  which would be awesome.

So I will never find out where Morrigan went? It's kind of sad to leave my old character behind and the great characters from DA:O, but I guess if the new game is just as good then telling a completely new story isn't bad. 
  
I must admit though that I would want to know more about Morrigan, Leliana and the rest rather then meeting new characters in a new game. While Oghren was in Awakening and Wynne (and possibly Alistair) made a cameo it failed to really continue the story of those characters that I loved the most from DA.O.

not so stoked, really. the first dragon age was an alright game, but it was a little generic, and this seems to be as generic as the first one was.

Ugh. It looks like Fable. Do we really need yet another simplified console RPG? This might be shocking premature, but based on what details we have to work with... It looks like Biwoare has fully embraced the idea selling out.

I have no idea what Nicholson was talking about with the game and the original's console version being more action focused, but I'm still hella psyched for a DA2, and I'm glad that most of the characters will be new, as I was never too happy with a good portion of the characters in the first game, especially Wynne and Leliana.

Looking forward to the refined combat system, I thought it was the worst part of Origins.

Dragon Age Origins was a great game. It's a shame they're doing away with creating your own character, but I just know BIoware isn't gonna let us fans down.

I was under the impression that Dragon Age had handily outsold Mass Effect 2.  I don't think it would be a smart decision at all to try and make Dragon Age as action focused as ME2 - I didn't think the combat in Dragon Age was great either, but I still hope they don't take approach.
 
I don't think updating the graphics is exactly necessary (they didn't seem to harm Dragon Age after all), but there is probably some professional pride in there for Bioware.  If they're gonna put DA 2 out against The Witcher 2, they're probably gonna want it to look somewhere handy.

The combat is what turned me away from the first one. DAII, I'll be looking out for you.

Shame their removing the multiple races and origins, but I guess that's how they are gonna get it out faster. Could also mean a more focused story with a fully voiced protagonist, which is a very positive thing, at least for me.

Here I was thinking this would follow my hero all the way through, like Shepard in Mass Effect.
 
And this new character has a last name! Maybe they're trying to make this more similar to Mass Effect after all. Mass Effect 2, from the sounds of it. And that is A-OK with me!
 
Though I will kind of miss the tradionalist cRPG trappings of Dragon Age. That was a neat little throwback.
 
And fuck everyone, the fiction they built up in Dragon Age was awesome. It just was built around some rather predictable and occasionally annoying quests. The Fade, for example.

As hyped as I was for the first Dragon Age, being a huge Mass Effect/KotOR fan, it was a complete disappointment for me. And Mass Effect 2 coming out 2 months later and completely putting DA  to shame did'nt help either.
 
I never understood why EA spent so much marketing the game when it was so niche. It's good to see that they're trying to expand the property's appeal by freshening it up a bit. Origins always seemed way too generic in style.

Please let them not dumb it down!!! The mechanics in the first game were great. They can improve the graphics and animations sure but they should stick to the Baldur's Gate style strategic combat and not go the Mass Effect/Fable route. 
 
The spell combinations from the first game were great and I want to be able to control the whole party and not have the stupid A.I. running off to their death.

hopefully the game does not look like a cartoony mess, that would ruin the game for me.

Hopefully this one will be playable on consoles....
(Before anyone mouths off, yea I know it was on Xbox and Ps3, it was just a crap port that's all.)

Having just finished Dragon Age: Origins, I'm glad to see many of the bullet points seem to be addressing my main problems with the game. 
Hopefully the archaic battle system will be gone and the visuals will actually be good.

Because no, the first one's graphics weren't horrible, if anyone thinks that that person is too far in the future/too spoiled!  (imo! XD)

I would be more excited for a another dragon age if it stayed similar to the first. Also it made it seem like there is a set character and you have to play as that guy (assuming its a guy), unless of course they do the Mass Effect thing of just giving a name but letting you do everything else.

I have a feeling they'll streamline it some so consoles can handle it better,
but here's hoping for an excellent sequel no matter what they do!
