Get out of the streets! Hide under the furniture! Lock yourselves in the basement! The planes are roaring overhead with 400 megatons of highly flammable awesome, which means that it’s time for the Sunday Bomb Drop! Join me, MattBodega, in the safety of the Bomb Shelter(we don’t call it that) as we wait for the radiation to wear down! We can pass the time and distract ourselves from the crushing loneliness of being the last human survivors by talking about the best blog, forum posts and contests on Giant Bomb! Or, we could repopulate the earth. Either option is fine, really.
What’s up with all of these hot Q1 releases? I feel like we, as game players, have spent the better part of the past decade decrying the Christmas release season, where perfectly good games get buried under high profile releases, and everyone has no money/time. But between Killzone, Street Fighter IV, FEAR 2, and The Lost and Damned DLC, there are interesting, fun things to play in February! And, as we all know, quality blog/forum content is directly proportional to the number of Hot Game Releases(or HGR’s ) coming out during a given quarter. Let’s take a look at the fascinating, bizarre, and frightening content produced by the community this week!
- Since I’m writing the Bomb Drop, I can stick the latest episode of Bomb Should Have A Face, the Giant Bomb Community Podcast, right at the top of the community topics list! That’s real power!
- What’s that? You’ve never heard of Bomb Should Have A Face? Fantastic Co-Host/Producer Jensonb breaks down everything you’d ever want to know about Giant Bomb’s Community Focused Podcast!
- Sweep mentions Gears of War 2, Braid, iPhone games, puzzles, and WallE all in the same blog. Not too shabby! Oh, and he asks game developers not to assume game players are stupid.
- Lies asks, “Why do game devs spend so much time and creating tech and art assets for a game, only to abandon them once the game comes out?” An especially relevant blog in an age of skyrocketing development costs.
- ColinC shows us how a simple Gamestop used game purchase actually reveals quite a bit about the used game culture in America.
- Still having trouble sneaking your way through the first Metal Gear? Go check out ZanzibarBreeze’s amazing guide to the original game in Kojima’s seminal stealth franchise. Featuring freaking MAPS!
And that’s the week that was! Support the community by commenting on everyone’s good topics! Me, I'm going to go repopulate the earth. That seems important.
