The Beatles vs. The Beatles: Rock Band

I'm gonna admit it: I'm pretty jazzed up about The Beatles: Rock Band. I've been a pretty casual Beatles fan for most of my music-appreciating life, though ever since that amazing trailer was shown at E3, I've fallen in pretty deep. I tell myself that it's all to prepare for the release of the game so I'll know the song list inside and out, but that's a laughable justification. I mean, I've started listening to Wings for god's sake. So it pleases me to see that the always chipper and upbeat Aaron Thomas over at Bitmob did a nice side-by-side comparison of how The Beatles look in the game and how they looked in real life, and it's pretty uncanny. Well they resemble them... but definitely not lifelike at all. I could tell without the comparisons, but rockband characters are just cartoony resemblances...

It looks great, don't get me wrong...

September's a great month for music games. The Beatles and Van Halen... the two music games I would want most. It's going to be a pretty good month for actual concerts, as well... I'd better make sure I have enough cash!

I really hope Harmonix plans to make another Band game in the future (After Rock Band 3, of course). Iron Maiden? Led Zeppelin? Pink Floyd?

like i said in another forum; if it doesn't have at least 75 tracks i wont buy it. i am uninterested in paying per song or $10 for 5 songs or w/e the case may be.

This will probably be the last 'band' or 'hero' game I get, really looking forward to it though!

I don't think anyone is saying it looks lifelike.  It does, however, do a great job of representing the band.  Definately check out Aaron's article, he has some great comparison shots there.

And for being a Rock Band game, it's pretty accurate. Especially if you think of the cartoony style they have.

The bottom one is fake because it's low-res. If the internet has taught me anything, it's to never trust low-res images and videos.

The Beatles are the most over rated band EVER. I can't fathom why anyone would find most their songs enjoyable or listenable in any way, unless they're a stoned hippie from the 70s or something.

I have to admit, they didn't want to screw around this time. It is the Beatles after all.

Wings are awesome! Band on the Run is such a great album, it's up there with the best of the Beatles.

Harmonix has done a fantastic job in truly recreating The Beatles, and I applaud them for it! Can't wait for this game.

Next i want a Pink Floyd Rock Band, the musical depth and insanity there would be perfect for a Harmonix to do like this.

Nothing wrong with the WIngs.  Everything from Wild Life to Back to the Egg are great imo.

Haha, ya they capture The Beatles pretty well. I was so furious when Paul or Ringo (forget which) made that joke at the conference about how stilted the animation in the game was. All I could think was "DUDE, THATS WHAT YOU DID ON STAGE!!"

Like, seriously! The Beatles Rock Band actually has less impressive animation than Rock Band 2 because The Beatles had a less impressive stage presence than anything in Rock Band 2....

Obviously the bottom ones are the artificial ones, because their resolution is lower...

the models and the levels look very good.  But on a side note, its great to see GB picking up articles from Bitmob, that is a great  site, and a great writing community.

has anyone else noticed that they don't wear guitar straps? It's pretty hard to play guitar, standing up, without a strap..
