Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Grabs Early February Release
Today, at the Consumer Electronics Show (and on their Unity blog), Capcom revealed that Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will be swinging and jumping (both! At the same time, even!) to the HD consoles right at the start of February. PlayStation 3 owners will get a slight head start when the game launches on February 1st. Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until February 2 to start swinging themselves, but now they can take those extra 24 hours to grow a mustache for themselves, just like Rad Spencer! Then they'll be properly equipped to play the game.
== TEASER ==Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 has been in development at Fatshark, one of several Swedish studios made of former employees of the now-defunct studio GRIN (which worked on the original BCR). In developing this sequel, Capcom not only brought on some of the game's original developers, but also Simon Viklund, the composer of BCR. That's especially heartening to hear, as BCR's incredible electronic remixes of the original Bionic Commando's NES chiptunes (as well as a track from the Commodore 64 release of Commando) was one of that game's highlights.
However, not everything about this sequel will be the same as its predecessor. For example, the price will be higher; Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will cost $15 (or 1200 Microsoft Points) when it launches in early February. Yes, the original BCR cost just $10 dollars, but this is the far flung future of 2011, and downloadable games don't cost $10 on consoles anymore. To be fair, BCR2 features a jump button and a mustache, so at least you know where the extra $5 went.

I don't understand, how does this guy turn into the angry butthole from the 360 game
He looks like my fun-lovin' uncle
Oh hey look it's my avatar.
I really hope this sells as well as the first one, I know I'll be picking it up day one. HIGH FIVE!!

Which I'm totally fine with. After all, non-evil Super Joe is in this game. He's still old though.
Where's my PC version!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Well, cornrow douchy Rad Spencer is in Marvel vs Capcom 3, so I suppose they're not totally dismissing him." Oh hey look it's my avatar.

You're expecting a price value discount because you were a fan of the first game? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Video games is a business and will always remain to be one. The standard of pricing on downloadable games has raised along with the demand and assumed value of product, and therefore so will the price of Bionic Commando 2. Note I said assumed value of product, not actual value (considering none of us had played it yet)." So you respect the fans that made the first game a success by... gouging them for an extra $5? Screw that. I'll just keep playing Rearmed 1 for now. "
Had you communicated differently by saying "I hope the price increase is in line with the quality and value of the game", then I would be wholeheartedly share your opinion. Otherwise... grow up?
" @Shuborno said:If you recall there was a pricing experiment with Rearmed 1. The producer of the game put up a poll to fans asking what their preferred price would be even though Capcom was inclined to charge $15. Though the fans opted for the lower 800 point price, the game sold very well and Capcom was rewarded for their customer-centric experiment. You're expecting a price value discount because you were a fan of the first game? They can probably get away with $15 this time, but I'm skeptical I'll find this game to be 50% better. I'm certainly not paying an extra $5 for a mustache and a jump button. I don't recall any marketing materials for this game claiming much has been improved.
The standard pricing on downloadable games increasing is the consumers' fault for accepting it. I'm saying I don't accept it and I won't buy many games at that price. How is that immature? That's how I can express my opinion as a consumer. Give me more value for money - don't take more money for nothing. This is exactly why I've started to buy more downloadable games for $5-$10 on Steam instead of XBLA.
That's the second stupidest thing I've heard all day. You can't 'fault' consumers for accepting a price point that is only a negligible $5 to $10 range of pricing. Come back and complain later when the dollar range of pricing is higher and the price point of downloadable games reaches past the $20-$30 mark, then you can start within a voice of reason."The standard pricing on downloadable games increasing is the consumers' fault for accepting it. I would have fully accepted Rearmed 1 for $15, but that is my value judgment (and clearly not yours). I'm sure there are other people who share my sentiment, and I'm sure there are people who would accept yours that it's isn't (but to be fair you're the only one in the thread complaining about the price point of Rearmed 2). I also didn't call you immature for expressing your opinion as a consumer. I think you have every right to do that. What I did do however is call your opinion stupid based on your original post where you think you're deserving of a price discount based on the grounds that you are a fan of Rearmed 1.
Subsequently, I'm still going call your new opinion stupid, greedy, and self-serving based on the grounds where you haven't even tried the game yet, and where you are making value statements on the final product based on marketing materials (which you know should never be trusted to begin with regardless of representation), even though you fully are aware that there will be a free trial of the game when it is released. I'm not saying Rearmed 2 will be the greatest game of the year either because it does work both ways, but I'll at least give them the chance to prove themselves by trying it out first or letting it get reviewed. Or you know, letting the game get released first rather than shutting down out completely.
This isn't Blade Kitten for 1200 points / 15 bucks. Rearmed 1 had high-production value and a high level of polish. The fair assumption based off that is Rearmed 2 can share the same high level of production value and polish. Note that I didn't say the game would be good, I'm simply making the basis on production values and polish. Fair market value for games with high production values and high levels of polish is currently 800 or 1200 points. Get over it. You're also completely disregarding the fact that high-profile games almost always go on sale in the Xbox Marketplace eventually as well, so unless you had a precognitive vision that the game will never go on sale for XBLA, and only on Steam or that it will never reach a discount that will be a fair value transaction to yourself, then please go ahead.
But realistically, it's $5 more. The equivalent of a couple additional Starbucks coffees on a single day's $10 lunch. Grow up.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!! There's a caterpillar on his lip!!!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!
... and no one cares how much a game is if it's worth the money...
" Jumping! I love that feature in games! :-D "THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
