The act of killing a child is considered taboo in most games. There are, however, some games that allow this breed of tomfoolery.
Information on the time honored tradition of killing rats. Killing rats is a much cliched first quest for many western RPGs.
Less-lethal weapons are weapons intended to be less likely to kill than a conventional weapon. Less-lethal weapons are used in riot control and self-defense.
Penalties to movement speed. How far/fast the player can walk. This may depend upon difficult terrain and what type of gear is being carried.
This gameplay feature is often associated with stealth games where the player cannot take the lives of his/her opponents or where the main goal is to avoid detection.
The presence of different kinds of ammunition that pose advantages depending on situational needs. They vary on a per-game basis, but popular types include incendiary and armor-piercing.
Genetically evolved humans, animals or aliens.
Non-linear level design where the player is able to freely traverse the game world and choose where and when to visit certain areas in the game.
Games that have had an Original Soundtrack album released.
Console games that derive from a past PC exclusive release, either due to popular demand or poor sales.
The permanent existence of one's body after death.
Who needs 2D when we've got 3D? 3D, or 3 dimensions, is what we're used to seeing in almost every game these days, letting us do all sorts of awesome stuff like run in circles!
From shields to car doors to entire vehicles, and even people, portable cover puts a unique twist on the cover systems commonly found in modern action games.
Video game combat in which combat actions are performed in real-time, rather than through a turn-based structure.
Reloading is the action of replacing the ammunition magazine inside a gun. It adds a touch of realism to most modern shooters, and a certain amount of tension when a player is forced to reload while under fire.
Projectiles that once fired can be retrieved again, either from the corpse of victims or, more likely, from the environment around it.
A Role-Playing Shooter (RPS) is a game that rolls both Shooting and Role-Playing elements together.
Instead of having the loot spew out of the corpse it-self, this concept is based on having to interact with the corpse to obtain the loot.
Quests that aren't necessary for game completion. They typically offer side-stories or specific rewards.
A supersoldier is a soldier artificially given abilities far beyond those of normal humans. These include increased strength, speed, stamina, intelligence, the ability to fly, the ability to create fire with their mind, etc.
Propelling oneself with kinetic usage of limbs while submerged in liquid (or otherwise fluid material).
What lies ahead, and is distant from the present.
Three games that are individually complete but are closely related in theme or sequence
A powerful weapon often found near the end of the game that is significantly more powerful than other weapons. It can also be the last weapon in an RPG game that does drastically increased damage compared to previous weapons.
Weapons can often be upgraded with new attachments, augmentations, or magical enchantments. These upgrades result in the original item being more powerful than originally intended.
Found in many First Person Shooters or Role Playing Games, the player has the ability to swap their current weapon for another found on the ground or in their inventory.
