    Dixie Kong

Dixie Kong is a character from the Donkey Kong franchise that originally appeared as a playable character in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. She is a chimpanzee with a long, blonde ponytail that she can twirl like a helicopter to cross wide gaps. Dixie is the first playable female character in the Donkey Kong franchise, as well as the middle sister of Candy and Tiny Kong.

Following Donkey Kong Country 2, in which Dixie plays sidekick to Diddy Kong, she took the starring role in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, in which she and Kiddy Kong rescue both Donkey and Diddy Kong from King K. Rool. She has since appeared in numerous Donkey Kong and Mario sports titles as either a playable or supporting character.

    Trivia

    • Dixie's first name is derived from the French word for "tenth."
    • In her earliest appearances, Dixie's beret is adorned with the "R" logo of the developer Rare, the studio behind the Donkey Kong Country series and Dixie's creator. The logo was removed in later appearances after Rare parted ways with Nintendo and was bought by Microsoft.
