Anyone else rage when the dude pretty much asks you to download content ingame?
Good job on whore-ing out your npc´s and game :(((
Dragon Age: Origins
Game » consists of 20 releases. Released Nov 03, 2009
Dragon Age: Origins is an epic fantasy role-playing game featuring a rich story, personality-driven characters, and tactical, bloody combat. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series.
So apparenty EA is short on money...
They did this in Godfather way back, and people bought the shit. So don't blame EA, blame the people supporting that stuff.
" @pornstorestiffi: PPL that buy it are just the enablers greedy corporate bosses are the ones making it happen. "I doubt that EA was pointing a gun at Biowares head and threatening them to make launch DLC. But whatever pointless argument i wont even spend my time on.
No one is forcing you to buy it, just move on and enjoy the game.
" This truly is the age of DLC. "True, and i wouldn't be surprised if other developers took this business model in use. Love it or hate it, there isn't much you can do about it it, they are in it to make money not cater what we like or don't like.
It's not that much different from, say, Burnout Paradise loading screens (specifically the "Burnout News" thing when the game starts up) encouraging you to get Big Surf Island.
Yes, I know that's EA too, but just sayin' it's not a big deal. It's just business.
" @Kiemoe said:So in order for adverstising to be okay in games, it has to be funny and not take itself seriously?" @Kohe321 said:Yeah, but that was actually funny and they didn't take themselves seriously. "" Yeah this isn't new. Remember "ask me about loom!" guy in Monkey Island? "You have a point there. "
I kinda see your point, though. The Loom guy somehow fit in, just like the grim fandango reference in Monkey Island 3. Still...
Yes. Funny advertising is great, in my opinion at least." @nanikore said:

The only thing you can possibly buy right now is the Warden's Keep right?
So a person YOU address offers you the option - and you rage? Besides that point I actually like how they blend the DLC into the world of Dragon Age.
Beats having to go to a shabby website or marketplace outside of the game to accept the quest for the Warden's Keep if you ask me!
" You got a screenshot or video for that event? This is exactly the kind of ridiculous, enjoyment harming experience I was afraid of... "Screenshot for you, or anyone else interested to see how it's offered.
I'm actually not that bothered about it, at least they're making it accessible so easily in game.
" @Diamond said:Yea, and it fits in really well, to be honest. It's not like he says "Hey, buy the DLC and go on a cool adventure in some place!". The choice fits well with the NPC and everything, and the NPC himself is unobtrusive and has a fairly believable story based on what you know of the worlds lore by the first time you meet him." Catering to what we like is how you make profits. Showing our distaste for in-game DLC advertisements is how you change the business model." @VWGTI said:

"If you don't like it, don't buy it" can be applied to every game discussion on this forum. It's a useless sentence.
Hm...let me check my list of things I don't care about....
Oh look, games advertising DLC is on that list!
Ask ME about Loom, too!
Yes, I was pissed off by this. You end up listening to the character give his spiel of woe and lament, and then it isn't until near the end of the conversation you find out the only way you can continue interacting with that character is through purchasing additional content. A very low blow and a shabby way to treat the people who'd already paid $60 for a complete in-game experience.
" Hm...let me check my list of things I don't care about.... Oh look, games advertising DLC is on that list! Ask ME about Loom, too! "You're comparing an advert (that was pretty funny and tongue in cheek) in a game that came out almost 20 years ago to a character asking you to buy DLC?
Ugh, get out.
