I will say though that there was a title update for the game that I wan't able to download, and I'm therefore playing this offline at the moment. There was also a dashboard update pushed about 2 minutes ago. Looks like Microsoft's playing clean up. "

Well, as far as I can tell, this is the full game. I and a couple other posters in here have started from the beginning and it doesn't prompt for more cash. At least it hasn't yet. This must have just been a slip up on Microsoft's end. If you can still get the game, do it.
I would be all over this if i hadnt already bought the game, if anyone hasnt bought this and can get it for free id highly recommend it! Its not a perfect game but its hell of a fun!

Too bad it's the full game, eh? People who have had saves are loading them, and people who have never played it are becoming adults and earning achievements. They screwed up.

I did finish it and I was playing. I posted a bit above about it. Basically I was able to load my old saves and play. Then I tried starting a new game and got all the way to the first big town. If I remember right, Episode 1 was supposed to end just after you grow from a kid to a young adult. I was never prompted to pay anything, so yeah this seems to be the full game. I've been getting game and dashboard patches over the last couple hours too, which makes it seem like this is all a big mix up by Microsoft and they're trying to fix it. It's a good thing you at least have it downloading because the exploit may be fixed by now. I think it's funny how the support Twitter account was trying to act like nothing happened. :P
I've been reading around about this, and while I do have it in my download queue, I have my worries. Some random dudes are saying stuff like this is a "violation of policy" and puts you at risk for a suspension. :\ Stuff like this is also being compared to "robbing an unlocked store", more or less. GAH!
I do recall getting a free gold lancer for Gears of War 2 off of Xbox.com, but of course, it wasn't originally $20. Heh.
It's definitely the full game. I just tested it all out. Like JJ I could load up my old saves that are from the end of the game. And it's also not region locked thankfully.

When I played the first episode it ended after you complete everything in that area before heading toward Bowerstone.
M$ fucked up, and now they are trying to clean it up and sweep it under the rug...
Like I said, just make it free for the weekend or until Saturday and just move on from there, it's not like Fable II was a hot seller on Games on Demand

Hey again, really appreciate the update! Unfortunately mine is still downloading and I as well have been receiving downloads and patches. Not sure if they well stop the DL or not but I certainly am curious as to if I can play it or not. This is certainly seeming like a screw up! lol

No they won't, they've already made a statement about it and said it wasn't the full game, when it was. They are trying to pretend it never happened. Even if they didn't they never ban people when they accidentally put things up for free.
The good thing about this whole thing was it got me to preorder a copy of Fable 3. I had played the hell out of Fable 2 when it first came out and then traded it, so loading up some old saves and remembering what all I did makes me wonder how it will effect Fable 3.
New Vegas and Fable 3, my gaming plate is going to be full pretty soon;)
Also if I walk into a store and they have the wrong price tag on something they have to sell it to me for that price, I got a sweet BBQ that way...I know this was marked as "free" but I feel the same applies, they can't ban you for something stupid they did on there end, I thought it was a promotion;)

Well, I downloaded it over night. Loaded up my save, seemed fine. Started a brand new game and played through childhood, did all the quests up to Bowerstone and am in Bowerstone. People still willing to call this the episodic version? I'm pretty sure I am past the point where it should ask me for money.
Downloaded it and it worked for me. Even got a few achievements for it. I downloaded once the news hit and I'm sure that MS has fixed the problem by now. They say they are not banning people for there mistake.
I already own Fable 2 but at least now I can play it without having to put the disc in. It even recognises my collectors edition DLC content. I was lucky to get it. Thanks OP. :)
@Tomkang: I never downloaded Episode 1 before tho. I also don't have the beta dashboard. I just owned Fable 2 when it came out but sold it along the way. I could load my old saves just fine, but others reported starting a new game works to well past where Episode 1 should end. Not sure what happened but I won't complain!
I have never had Fable 2 installed or played on my 360. From what I can tell this is the full game and it works fine for me! Thanks MS, I guess it's the least you could do considering 2 of my 360's RROD....wait, what?
