Hey i just wondered are other people getting issues with this game crashing alot. Im playing the 360 Version UK release and its locking up on a regular basis. Xbox is fine with no red rings at any point.
just wondered if this was a problem other people were having?

Fallout 3 Crashes alot?
plays fine here
I managed to play it for about 3 hours ok then it just crashes frequently now. that led me to think it could be a heat issue but it still crashes after hours of console downtime. Hope a patch is issues. i wonder if its just an issue with some UK versions of the game maybe. The internet being the internet i would of thought any widespread issues would of been common knowledge by now
"plays fine hereTried this and its made no diff :(Clear your cache, sometimes it works http://www.megagames.com/news/html/console/xbox360clearcachefeature.shtml"
I get very few crashes with the pc version (about 5 total), but it does crash at the oddest places with mine.
well i think the problems ive had were the prelude to some RROD as mine is now red lighting. Same thing happened last year with gears. Gears killed my last console and i think fallouts killed this console. Its wierd tho as my console boots up fine but it is displaying the 3 red lights
PC VERSION: I've had it crash for me every time I quit out of the game, and for some reason at some other points within the game. I have to save and save frequently, but otherwise I like the game. Bethesda has got to patch this thing because although I don't mind saving then crashing, then loading, rinse, repeat, some people won't and it'll cost them. It's weird though, the game runs great on my 3 year old system, besides just out-of-nowhere crashes. *sighs*
My Xbox 360 version crashed the first time I got to The Brass Lantern at Megaton and I thought ohh shit here we go. But *touch wood* it has not done it since and I'm about 11 hours in. Still I save the game fairly consistently now just in case
I have experinced one or two freezes they have all happend after fast travveling to a location but concidering the number of hours i have played this game it hasnt really botherd me a patch would be nice though.
I stopped playing last night because the game froze on me, I'm playing it on the 360. I had just killed a super mutant and as he began to slide down a hill the game froze. I've played for about 8 hours so far, and that was the first time it froze.
Well i repaired my console using the xclamp mod and she now runs like a beauty but im still getting fallout related crases. now it crashes when i try to enter a specific building (wont say what due to spoilers) but the game runs and plays fine other than that. annoyingly i HAVE to enter this building to continue the game.
Crashes all the time on my new Quad core PC running Vista 64 bit with 6 GB of memory. What does Bethesda advise? Run it on one core - didn't help, still crashes. Sometimes I can play for 30 minutes without a problem other times 30 seconds and down for the count. I have tried every fix imaginable and the game still crashes.
It freezes on me occasionally. I've been playing the game for about a week and it's frozen maybe three times.
I'm not entirely surprised that people are having issues with the game crashing. Both Morrowind and Oblivion gave me a lot of problems (morrowind in particular), and I'm guessing it may be something of a trend in Bethesda games. I don't think that it's necessarily because Bethesda is bad at making games, just that when you've got a game of the scale and substance of Fallout3 (or oblivion/morrowind) some bugs are going to work their way in there that may get overlooked in the review process.
I could be wrong about this but it's just my guess.
Ive not had that much trouble. There was only one time where I left a building and all the textures on the left side of the screen (looking eerily similer to a starfox ship model) turned various shades of brown, then an man with an invisable torso started shooting me then then the game froze and I had to reset the system. Only one time so far though.
360 Version: I have complited the game and thort I did ok for myself with no problems. I have started agen and knowing what I did about the game I set out to get the Ranger Combat Armor (as we all know it ROCKS). So I am trying to continue with the story and I have spoken to Dr. Lie (for the first time) and she has told me where my Dad is. I set of to the momorial tho when I get close it freezes, the closest I have got is just outside and I have killed ONE mutie tho normaly I fast travel to the boat place (can't remmember the name ATM) I get to the statue at the bottom of the hill. I have tried going other ways yet is still messes up. I hope they fix it soon as I am doing alot better than the first time ;-p
I just reached a point where the game freezes about one second after I load my save game, thus halting all further progress. Needless to say, I'm quite pissed, and would like them to fix it immediately.
I've been trying to play lately but keep running into a random lock up that requires me to restart my 360. Had the same thing happen with Oblivion here and there on my 2nd 360 (on my third now).
I'm not even that far into the game either, when I first got it I didn't much of a problem but this was prior to updating to the latest Wii360 overhaul. No idea if it has anything to do with that, probably not.
I put in about 65 hours total on my 360 version... It froze up on me 5 or 6 times. Although I did get my first RROD about 3 weeks after I started playing. :(
You can absolutely get freezes from a bad game save too. I have an insane number of saves, over 400. I had one weird glitch where my character ended up halfway under the ground, I could walk around (slowly) but could not jump up out of the mess. Sometimes I would pop out unexpectedly and all would seem normal. But any time I tried to use that save, I got other weird glitches. Boxes I couldn't search, weapons wouldn't shoot, sometimes I'd fall through the ground entirely into empty space with the 3D world above me, and lots of hard freezes.
Save early, save often, and be prepared to go back to a previous save.
"I put in about 65 hours total on my 360 version... It froze up on me 5 or 6 times. Although I did get my first RROD about 3 weeks after I started playing. :("I got the dreaded RROD on my third (mentioned in my previous post) just a couple days ago trying to play. Oddly enough my first 360 died while playing Oblivion (the second was with Crackdown). All three times showed the same symptoms though, at first started with no problems then all of a sudden a random lock up, then the more I played the more frequent the lock ups got which eventually lead to every time I played until my 360 gave up the ghost.
