No way. At €249, it's going to be like £300 minimum.Vita probably. I'd need to see the UK price to decide for sure, around £200 is my guess.
3DS or Vita
@SethPhotopoulos: Depends on the genre, I noticed a lot of the JRPGs were big on this thing and the only one I got was the Kingdom Hearts game which I still have yet to finish. Although you may be right about missing some games. I don't have a lot of games for this thing and I've been neglecting my PSP like a bastard child.
I think we need to see a lot more games before both platforms before we can make that choice. I plan on owning both (I already have a 3DS), but the only things I'm REALLY excited for for the Vita at this point haven't even been seen at all - Silent Hill and Bioshock. On the other hand, Nintendo knows what they're doing when it comes to handhelds, so we can be pretty positive good stuff is coming soon... we just don't have much of it yet.
So yeah, it's a tough call right now, especially since they're the same price.

300 pounds? Does the U.K. usually get screwed like that with tech prices?
I don't see why the Vita should be a repeat of the PSP. I'm not quite positive that I'm going to purchase it, but $250 seems like a pretty damn good deal.
At the moment, we need to see what games will be coming out on both platforms.

The only real genre the PSP is lacking in is FPS... for obvious reasons.
Neither of them do anything for me. If I had the money I would probably get the NGP. I have zero interest in the 3DS, but the NGP at least looks like it could potentially do some interesting things if developers actually follow through with it..
Vita looks far superior at this point, I'd wait and see though.
Especially since 3DS might have some good deals on Black Friday.
I already bought a 3DS and after having played pilotwings, that dynasty warriors game and steel diver. . . it's just gathering dust. Those games weren't all that great neither. I really like the tech and the glassesless 3D but if the PSV is the same price, I bet you'd get more gaming mileage out of that thing. Though, I played a ton more DS than PSP so maybe it depends on what games come out later on.

Vita. Definitely the Vita. Now, that's if I have $250 to blow. Or maybe I should just wait and see on the price of the games for the Vita. Damn, I like that name. Vita Vita Vita Vita Vita Vita Vita.... sounds smooth.
Smooth like melted, processed cheese.
I think I'm definitely interested more in the Vita, as well as the new $99 price drop of the DS Lite, so I can get into that backlog of DS and GBA games. I have very little interest in the 3DS until Mario comes out.
Well, if you're not a graphics whore you need to look at two things-
Games and battery life. The 3DS should get good games later on, but the Vita has a solid lineup as of now. BUT! The Vita could also only run for like an hour and a half and have a complete shit battery. Who knows?
I already have a 3DS, so I've already answered half of the question. I can't imagine selling it in the near future, because a lot of the good-looking stuff is still to come, but the Vita also looks really nice. Of course, I felt the same way about the PSP and, well, let's just say it wasn't worth pre-ordering.
@VinceNotVancesaid:
Until the 3DS's 3D screen can be seen from multiple angles, and the system itself gets 2x the battery life and stops looking like an ugly piece of shit, then it's the Vita all the way.
As a man of action, I have to pull the trigger now. If I get a Vita now, I can wait for the 3DS lite. I just hope I don't get burned by having a Vita.
@Afroman269: wait for launch line-up of Vita by then 3DS will have a stable of games and you can decide. also i beleive vita can play psp game and the 3DS can play 3Ds games
I don't know. That Uncharted demo seemed pretty interesting, especially with that wall movement stuff.
Vita all the way. I play games on the handheld a lot and 3DS seems like something casual that a person would not want to play it for too long,
I really want a 3DS on the grounds that I love my DS and I expect the 3DS to blow up the same way with the amount of great games the DS had over its entire lifespan. Hopefully some stuff will be announced tomorrow at Nintendo's conference; I need a little more convincing seeing as how there's really not much going for the 3DS right now. I'm also hoping the 3DS doesn't only get fighting and action games because of its bump in graphics over the DS.
Ace Attorney 3DS is an automatic buy and I'll be suckin' some dick if I have to.
Yeah ok, not really. But god damn it that's how devoted I am.
Vita all the way. I got a NES, with duck tails, Metal gear, mega man 2, battle toads, and SMB 3. WTF do I need to a 3DS for?
Wait and see approach right now, but god damnit, after that press conference, the Vita is definitely ahead in the taking my money race. However, I am not even sure if I will get another portable, I rarely if ever bought games for my DS or PSP, but the connectivity between the PS3 and Vita interests me.
The only reason why you would buy a 3DS is for Nintendo games. I haven't care about Nintendo games since the SNES days so it's a no brainer for me, I'll go with the Vita.
Nothing was actually wrong about the Psp to begin with. The games were fine and it did multimedia fine. If I get either portable it will be the Vita, I need to replace this 3rd gen iPod touch anyways.
Nintendo has never disappointed with its handhelds... At least not me. I have to wait for a price cut anyway for either of them.
I say if you really want one ASAP you should get the Vita. I have a feeling the 3DS will get a revision sooner and you should definitely wait for that with Nintendo handhelds.
That's what I'm thinking. If Nintendo comes along holiday 2012 with a thinner, lighter 3DS, with a brighter screen, 5hr battery on the highest setting (both 3D & brightness), and a screen that can be seen from multiple angles (not just dead on), then I'd buy it. I'd even buy it if it didn't have the multiple viewing angles.Nintendo has never disappointed with its handhelds... At least not me. I have to wait for a price cut anyway for either of them.
