Giant Bomb should have game awards...chosen by us.

WIth a 60,000+ user base I think that this year Giant Bomb should have separate game awards voted for by the users or at least give us a place to vote and just have a category for it or just tell us which game was chosen by the users when they declare the winners.

Sounds like a lot of work on their end, I'm really more interested in what the staff have to say than what the users have to say, personally.

I really don't care about game of the year awards, i just like Giantbombs because they give have some cool categories.  
 
Hopefully they have a Game of Year: Best Helicopter Kills. It would be close between 50 cent, Prototype, Ballad of Gay Tony, and MW2.

They mentioned opening up all the categories to user voting last year, but ended up only doing it for GOTY.  Hopefully they get around to it this year.

Maybe a user GOTY but as others have said, I am really MUCH more interested in what the staff has to say about the nominees and winners. That's why we are here right? We love the staff!

the best way to handle it for this year is to just have a simple text box (just like how the search field works on the top of the page), and users would type the name of the game, and pick it from the suggestions. then that user is locked out from voting again. of course the results are gonna be hidden from everyone so there won't be pressure or obvious biases. then at the end of the year the official results are shown, like top 5 user choices and winner.
 
I think this would solve the problem of games that have 0 votes.

Seems like a cool idea, but I can live without it, as I'm going to do that myself.

They could just make another site just for that.
