So glad I never really picked a side. I was right that MW2 would win in the short-term, but it looks like Mario has got that long term thing locked down.

According to VGChartz, 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 sold 6.383 million copies in the  US, New Super Mario Bros Wii sold 5.168 million.  I did say it would fall short by about a million copies, so I wasn't far off.  The PS3 version sold 3.149 million.  It doesn't matter other figures you get, Reggie got it wrong about the 360, but correct if you  mean PS3.

That doesn't make any sense. The contest dealt with sales numbers, which are not a matter of opinion and can't be spun. You were in a no better position to predict the winner than anyone else. "

Does anyone here think that NSMB Wii won't outsell MW2 in the long-term, though? Mario games sell insanely over time. It will eventually overtake sales.

But this contest could easily be spun either way.  If we used against the PS3 version, NSMBWii would have won. If we did worldwide numbers, NSMBWii would have won. If we just saw who won each NPD the most times, NSMBWii would have won. There has to be some ground for this sort of thing, and me choosing a side would change that because I am the one running this. You guys would have to trust me not to change the rules at the last minute for my team to win. "

Still makes no sense. Changing the rules (or worse the premise) would obviously invalidate the contest and probably be inconsistent with Reggie's statement. Trust wouldn't be much of an issue since people would know if the rules changed and would simply no longer participate, likely ridiculing you in the process -- ironically the same fate you wished upon those who didn't follow the rules. That would presumably be incentive enough for you to stay the course unless winning a contest in which you were the sole participant meant that much to you. "
