This could be you!
How's this for a contest? I'm heading down to Texas for QuakeCon this week to get a look at id Software's new mega-texture-athon Rage, and this Friday I'll also be swinging by Gearbox to see the latest on Borderlands. And so will two of you! Gearbox is kindly allowing us to select two members of the Giant Bomb community to visit the developer's office on Friday (that's the 14th) and play Borderlands a full two months before release. Be on your best behavior, OK? Wipe your feet before entering.

Here's the word straight from Gearbox.

Two members of the Giant Bomb community are invited to join Gearbox Software for an afternoon of Borderlands co-op! This Friday the 14th at 4pm two Giant Bomb members will get to play the Gearbox Software ground breaking RPS (role playing shooter) due on shelves October 20th. Come join us!

We'll run this like any other contest: To enter, simply comment on this story and include the text "GB4LYFE" (no quotes) at the end of your post. At 3pm tomorrow (that's Wednesday, 8/12) I'll cut off the entries and randomly select two of you to get the business. The winners will be notified by PM of specific instructions for showing up.

NOTE: You must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, or be able to get yourself there by 4pm this Friday, to be eligible. If you don't qualify for one of those criteria, please refrain from entering the contest. It will make life easier for everyone. You can still comment on this story if you want to discuss it; just don't include the GB4LYFE tag so your posts won't be counted as contest entries.

Now go forth and comment!

UPDATE: Voting closed, winners selected!

The winners, by random robot selection, are: jspill and SpecialBuddy! You guys will be notified by PM of further instructions, and thanks to everyone who entered.

Wow that would be awesome!  But I live in the northern part of Minnesota.  A bit too far for me....

#7 Posted by vunna (237 posts) -

My guess is that not many game studios are in the central NY area.  Wish I could use the secret code to enter but I have to wait for something a little closer.  Stupid 9 to 5 corporate job!  I'm trapped!

I live in Fort Worth! How lucky for me! It would be an awesome time to go with Giant Bomb to this event cause I think Borderlands looks awesome. I really hope I win. Any idea what part of the metroplex this event is taking place?

Whoever goes should suggest that the studio relocate to Southwest florida. It's way better than anything in Dallas/Fort worth area thats for sure (j/k). In all seriousness, though, its great to see involvement of the community in this.

Ugh I wish I could go, this is probably my most anticipated game of the year, either this or brutal legend. I'm also excited about assassin's creed two, modern warfare two, and halo 3 odst, but they pretty much all seem like by the books sequels. So yay borderlands It's looking to be one of the original surprises this year, I'd say brutal legend will be a surprise too, but I don't think it'll be a surprise that it is immensely amazing, but I guess I could say the same about borderlands so hey.
Yay 2009!!!!!!!!!

@rateoforange: As a fellow North Carolinian, I'm gonna enter anyway. I would totally pay travel expenses to play Borderlands/cover it for Bytejacker/chill wit Giant Bomb. GB4LYFE
