The Video Game Coalition
The spectrum of gaming consoles and its brethren has changed. The perception of what a game can be played on has changed. Why the hate? Someone decided to add generations to our gaming habits. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on and so forth until we are now told that we are on the the 7th generation of gaming consoles. Why? Who did this? Fuck you?
If it plays a game, what does it matter? From the early beginnings until now, they all do nothing but play video games. I've never understood why this is. Moore's law can kiss my sorry video gaming ass. Moore's law does not translate into how video games should be made or held to its high standard of attrition.
Why the labels? PC gamer, Console gamer, Handheld gamer... What the fuck ever gamer... they all play video games.
Look around people, the colors are ever changing... in flux, go with the flow, ignore, participate or get the fuck out.
My name is Claude, and I'm a member of the Video Game Coalition.

Juvenility rules!
This sounds like a secret Communist organization plotting to sabotage America's game industry. Don't be fooled children, resist the Red influence.
I hate being labeled by what I play or on what system. What the fuck does it matter? Who gives two shits if I play games on my PC, 360, Wii, or PS3? Do die-hard fans of anything realize just how retarded they sound when they attack other people for liking something different? It's not racism - it's nerdism, and it only makes the person spouting it look like a Forrest Gump-wannabe.
" So, Wikipedia labels consoles by their generation. Why do you care that they care about when the console was released? This just smells of over-dramatic revolution for no real reason... I feel like I'm reading Animal Farm. "Animal Farm is cool, but I'm talking video games. George Orwell died in 1950, sorry, he missed the bus. The short bus.

But really... Do you actually take video games this seriously? Yes, a video game is a video game, but does it matter so much to you that you needed to start some "Coalition"?
Of course it does, it plays a serious role in my life... a serious hobby of mine. Coalition, well, that's subjective, much like all of life. To join means nothing, to join means you choose your game of choice, you win nothing, you lose nothing, you just play the games on the platform in which you wish to play, that's the key, love it and move on. It's not the console wars that bother me, but the misunderstanding that there are games to be played, what they are played on is where my feathers get furled.
Well said, Claude. I'm sure all of us who play games for the sake of playing games fully share your views and empathise with your cause. I know I do.
My name is dankempster, and I'm a member of the Video Game Coalition.
My name is Ze and I play games and don't care that I've lived through 7 generations of systems.
Now if only someone else felt that way too so I had someone to play with online instead of them being here, being angry about nothing :(
Labeling is natural for most human beings. Sometimes we label so much that we don't even realize we are doing so. In terms of videogame labels, I think most of them were created by people who cannot afford other systems, and therefore whichever one they have they will say, "I'm a [console/system] gamer," because they want to feel like the their system is the best to justify their purchase. In other cases, some people like to separate themselves because it makes them feel better. There's not one definite answer because they are a lot of reasons, but labeling is something that humans have done and will continue to do.
...Anyway, I support this movement!
"I don't know why people are actually arguing or trying to rationalise this. I expect the giantbomb community to absent-mindedly jump on any bandwagon, no matter HOW CRAZY or WHICH DIRECTION that wagon is going.
JUMP ON OUR FUCKING BANDWAGON!!
Chumps
"
Bandwagon, or Band wagon?
Personally, I'm a physical media moviegoer, and I think theatre moviegoers are all noobs for paying to see a movie once, and these new streaming media moviegoer kids are scrubs for not being able to handle getting up and put a disc in a tray. Theatre moviegoers might all QQ about how physical media and streaming media are killing moviegoing, but at least when I watch a film on physical media the only thing raucous and outspoken that can ruin my moviegoing is my dog.
What were we talking about again?
As someone who's been gaming before some users here were born... I understand why people classify stuff. Helps when you're trying to talk about the progress hardware has taken. I guess I never equate hardware progress with software progress. If something's good for the environment it was written in, then it's good.
Or should I be rowdy? Sorry. Maybe that was too sedate.
