I was reading the list and I liked their choices and why they picked them until I got to number 1...

It's times like these (pun intended) we should be thankful for our beautiful website free of such infuriating, mind-numbing click-traps.

I remember in 2006 when Time boasted how superior the Wii was over the PS3 and how Nintendo would rule this generation with motion controls. ... yeah. Stick to what you know, Time.

At least they included Bastion.

I don't know... more than twice as many consoles sold as either of the contenders, both of whom have come out with their own motion device? Say what you want about its relevance to your interests but that doesn't sound like failure to me...

Also, this is a pretty solid list IMO. Actually, I think it's a great fucking list. Each and every one of those games has more than enough right to be on that list. My personal list would be completely different, but still, I'm impressed with what Time has come up with.

minecraft seems weird as does sword & sorcery (I assume it's an iphone game) but all those others are fairly fair (love that they put skyrim at 7, give no fucks)

Bastion and Minecraft are the only two games on that list that aren't rehashes (thats not a bad thing, just thought it was odd)

That was actually a pretty good list! I don't agree with all of the choices, but it wasn't the "Modern Warfare is number 1! followed closely by Battlefield and Uncharted!" that I was expecting it to be.

Ehh, it's not a bad list.

I have no idea how to navigate this list at all.

I clicked NEXT and it went to a seperate list. I clicked TOP 10 VIDEOGAMES and it went straight to Number 1. So I clicked BACK from there and it went to Number 9 of a different list :/

Bastion shouldn't be in the top 10, let alone ahead of Skyrim.

I agree with most of the games on the list but the order is messed up.

Not that I have many fucks to give, but I hope The Witcher 2 isn't overlooked this year. So damn good, but it came out a little while ago.

They really did like Skyward Sword I guess...

Minecraft: 2011's 2009/2010 Game of the Year?

I feel like the only reason Minecraft shouldn't be on that list is that game sorta came out in 2010, sorta came out in 2011, but the interest and relevance has peaked. Terraria on the other hand had the decency to have a release date and still be updated with a ton of great content well into its life this year. Anyone else feel like the Minecraft craze came and went? I mean no one really gave a shit when it went 1.0 because everyone who already wanted to play it does/did which is what makes it a GOTY 2011 weirdo. I wouldn't bother with putting it on any lists unless there's a special category recognizing its weirdness.

With that said I feel like that list was pretty solid although I could give less of a shit about the ordering. Although I wouldn't have done it, Sword & Sorcery I feel is a good representative for the relevance if iOS gaming in 2011 and a fitting gesture for the list. I've certainly seen worse GOTY lists. Damn shame that Mortal Kombat, Dead Space 2, and Little Big Planet 2 didn't get on that list, in addition to The Witcher 2, Saint's Row, and Dirt 3.

Because that generates cheap web traffic. It sucks, but thats how they get $$$$.

It's official release was this year (in November I think), so it's a valid choice. Not saying it's the right choice, but it's technically allowable. Even GB said they wouldn't include/review it until it was officially out of it's absurdly long and public beta.

But another part of me says fuck it, because there is NO Saints Row The Third, so it is thereof INVALID.

Eh, none of the games are very original. And saying rehash is condescending, even if you did not mean to be. Sequel is more in line with the idea.

not a bad list. surprised bastion is on the list and pleasantly surprised modern warfare 3 is nowhere to be found.

I'm not surprised it's not up there, but it would have been nice to see Dead Space 2 there.

I am aware of this, but I suspect that Time could just as easily have put Minecraft on their list last year and nobody would have questioned it. This essentially means that Minecraft is getting two shots at GoTY.

I find that unacceptable.

Man, Minecraft is good for what it is, but it does not deserve that number one spot... Over Portal 2 and Skyrim? Really? And no mention of Saint's Row 3? Man, forget this list.

Battlefield being on the list seems.... odd.

I'm not really interested in seeing another "top selling games of 2011 list," which will no doubt be what at least half of Giant Bomb users' lists consist of. Can we start thinking outside of the games that sell twenty-million copies?

Not a bad list. Too bad Skyrim is so low but that's ok. I think it is cool they put Minecraft as #1. I'll never play that game but I can recognize how important it is.
