"Half-LifeIsn't Deus Ex more of an rpg than a shooter
Deus Ex
Rainbow Six"
What are the three best shooters in the past 10 years?
- Unreal Tournament 2004, i had a LOT of user generated content.
- Metal Gear Solid 3 (AND ONLY 3)
- Call Of Duty: World At War
I can't say half life because i haven't played it although i obviously hear its good ;D
I dont enjoy the Halo franchise because it seems very generic to me, although the multiplayer is good the single player feels absolutely terrible to me.
Define "best".
1. Call of Duty 4 for its amazing online play.
2. Half Life 2 because it's mother effing Half Life 2.
3. I want to say Left 4 Dead but it's too new to determine its place yet. Let's just go with Halo 3 because it's the best of the Halo trilogy, which are all very good.
I don't own a PS3 but I'm sure you could argue Resistance 1 or 2. Also, props the Metroid Prime 3. The controls for the first 2 killed the games for me, but MP3 completely fixed that.
I don't dare offer up my own opinion on this one, but I think Goldeneye should be on everyone's lists for sheer achievement. Does it stand up to the shooters of today? Like a leaf in a bonfire. But for its time, it revolutionized the genre and I know countless hours of my life were spent on it. Also, try not to bite too hard on what jimbojones says. He's the only blatant troll this forum has, as far as I've seen.
1. Uncharted
2. Bioshock
3. HL2 and the episodes
I haven't yet played a Halo game, though I have 1 and 2 sitting here waiting for me. Judging by the love the halo games get they'd probably be pretty high in the list if I had played them.
These aren't the "best" but they are my favorite three from the last ten years.
And, as you'll see, I have pretty pedestrian tastes.
- Halo: Combat Evolved
- Half-Life 2
- Gears of War
All three did a lot to define a movement in first-person shooters. Halo reinvigorated the first-person shooter genre's spirit on consoles, Half-Life 2 changed the way physics were manipulated in a game's infrastructure, and Gears of War streamlined the stop-and-pop cover system to make it accessible for the mainstream audience. No one remembers Kill.Switch. Everyone knows Gears of War.

Didn't Quake 1 come out long before 99? I swear I remember playing that back in college in 97.
