I'm curious as to what game would sell you on a system. If Microsoft announced Halo Wars 2 for the next Xbox I'd buy it in a heartbeat as I loved the original. I'll also probably buy a WiiU to play Wind Waker.
What game would sell you on a system?
No one game sells me on a system. That said hockey games on next gen systems is enough to convince me to get at last one of them. Sadly hockey isn't coming this year.
@acidbrandon18: I'm going to buy the PS4 and next Xbox regardless of the launch lineup. The catastrophe of the Wii U is actually making that proposition a little scarier now then when I first decided to do it, but I'm still going to do it. I didn't think I would be this excited for "the next generation" but I am hyped!
The new Guilty Gear may end up pushing me toward a PS4 sooner than I expected.
SMT x Fire Emblem is the main reason I would get a Wii U at this point, but there's too little known about that to be a system seller. A new Zelda will likely get me to buy one eventually.
I honestly have no idea what Microsoft could announce that would sell me on the new Xbox. They lost practically all of the exclusives I care about over the course of this last gen, so it would have to be something new and exciting.
Halo 3 HD and Halo 3-2
PGR5
Mirrors Edge 2
What would a Halo 3 HD even be?

literally just Halo 3 again
i just want the good times back man
Fallout 4 is the one for me. Fallout 3 and the better (re: timed exclusive) DLC situation is what prompted me to get a 360 over a PS3.
Pokemon X&Y sold me to buy a 3DS
This.
A proper Ratchet & Clank game.

Sold.
Honestly, I'm already sold. Launch line ups are always a let down. Better games are down the line. My PS3 fatty is on its last legs, its time for a new console even for just the blu-ray/streaming capabilities.
In terms of games, something new and shiny with innovative ideas. Not sure what shape that game would take but I'm getting sick of sequels.
- Persona 5
- Persona 6
- Persona 7
- Persona 8
- Persona 9
- Persona 10
- ...
I'll likely wind up with all the consoles for the 3rd generation in a row, regardless. Although this time I might main PC, once I can get one.
Microsoft could sell me with simply:
- A Viva Pinata sequel (won't happen)
- A full on Alan Wake sequel made by Remedy (also won't happen)
I'd buy a WiiU for that AAA open-world Pokemans RPG everybody wants. That's about the only scenario in which I could see myself getting a WiiU.
I don't think any of the 'obvious' exclusives from Microsoft or Sony (Uncharted, God of War, Gears, Halo etc.) would be enough to make me buy one console over the other, or make me feel like I needed both consoles. Not really that into any of those franchises.
I would buy a console for one exclusive, if the right game came along.
it would be a JRPG such as Persona 5, Dark Cloud 3, Valkyria Chronicles or Dragon Quest XI. Most Western games come out on PC, so I can play them there. The next Fallout and Dragon Quest I'll be buying for my PC. I have little interest in playing these types of games on a console these days because I like to use mods or at least have the option to use them.
Shenmue 3 ?! ?!
I love you...
A new Rockstar open world game, Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls 6 or a new BGS IP in the same framework with a timed exclusive monopoly on DLC.
Nothing, really. I generally don't buy a console until several years in and it's got a ton of exclusives.
Vagrant Story 2. Else it'd have to be about 10-15 objectively good games like it was for this generation; no point in buying a console before then.
I'll go wherever my favourite fighting game franchises go. Also, Persona 5.
