Who are your favorite video game villains?

I think we can all agree that we enjoy a good villain more then we can enjoy a good hero. With that in mind I would like to know which are your favorite game villains.

Personally think Seymour Guado was pretty creepy. As well as Kessler, Ares, Loghain, Clockwerk and Dr. Nefarious. There are probably many more.

Much as I like a villain with a certain depth to them, as evinced in all of your examples, I'm going with Hitler.

Caius is the best one I can think of so far. He's great though, best FF villain by a long shot.

Well, you're playing as him, so technically i guess he can't be the villain. But out of all the characters in the game, from what i remember anyway, he was kind of the biggest dick.

That one dude in Heavenly Sword. Man, he was good. King Bohan, I think. He was pretty good. I think.

Loghain because he wasn't actually evil, i like a villain with motive over a cape and goatee.

Seymour is a motherfucker and I hope he's assraped by a mammoth in hell forever. You know,within the mythos of the game.

GLaDOS is easily my favorite villain.

Since I'm always late to these threads, I get it easy because many have named good ones so far and I get to limit it to one that hasn't been named yet. I think there are a lot, and I don't have the best in mind probably, but I'd have to say probably someone from the Metal Gear Solid series.

Literally all of those reasons. His second and last forms were simple. The first and third ones were a fucking pain in the ass.

Jon Irenicus was no slouch, either.

The 5-0, in any game really. Also criminals when playing as the cops. Always love a good cops and robbers game.

Thomas Mutton (from Catherine), because he's so unconventional.

Saren from Mass Effect 1, Maximillian from Valkyria Chronicles, Kefka, and Loghain are ones I really liked.

Kefka. I've never wanted a villain dead SO badly.

Him aside: Giygas. Not only is he a weird, twisted final boss for the generally whimsical and wacky Earthbound, but he's basically a Lovecraftian elder god. He doesn't even have a sprite, you actually fight the boss background in the final battle. And his attack merely reads "You cannot grasp the true form of Giygas' attack" There's something weirdly frightening about an enemy who can hurt you in ways you literally can't comprehend.

Rasputin from Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Kuja from FFIX, Kefka from FFVI, Cid from FFXII, Caius from FFXIII-2, Kain from Shining Force, Joker from the Batman Arkham games, Duke from Tales of Vesperia, Dr. Robotnik from Sonic, Kato from Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil series, Revolver Ocelot from the MGS series, Lassic from Phantasy Star, Andrew Ryan from Bioshock, and I think i'll end with Heihachi Mishima from Tekken. There are many more, but this is off the top of my head.

You can play as the villain in the story. A Villain can be the protagonist, it just means the Villain is the main character. Alex Mercer was a total bad guy in that game.

Having caused the outbreak for revenge or something like that and is now currently spreading it around. Not to mention that in the first game he had a complete disregard for life.

Dude roles into your garden, totally invincible, to break every valuable thing you've spent the last 20 or so hours pouring love and care into. He then proceeds to laugh and be an all around dick before exiting your garden, scaring your pinatas to depression in the process. No one compares, mate.

He's evil, he's suave, he's powerful in many awesome ways, he's got the best villain voice evar, and he's fucking fun to watch doing his badass thing.

The Lich King. AKA Anakin, i'm a ripoff, Warcraft Vader.

• The MGS series has great villains, Ocelot, Solidus, Liquid, Volgin, the Boss and all of there underlings. Take your pick, they are all just such magnificent bastards and a few of them are at least sympathetic at times.
• Something about Porky Minch I find fascinating, probably because he has an obsession with Ness, he's manipulative and he abuses time travel to the point of becoming a child trapped in an old man's body, also he managed to out live Giygas... evil in a form that you can't even grasp.
• Gannon is pretty good in Windwaker.
• Edgar Ross in Red Dead Redemption
• Sarren and Loghain are interesting
• LeChuck
• Kefka and Sephiroth
• GlaDOS and Wheatly
• The Origami killer

This reminds me, I hardly ever get excited when a villain gets what is coming to them. Ross was the last one where when I finally gave him what was coming that I actually said "FUCK THAT GUY" because he felt somewhat believable but was a real asshole that caused pretty much everything wrong. There needs to be more of that catharric FUCK YOU in though both gameplay and story.

Saren from ME 1, he's ruthless but he thinks he's saving the galaxy. And he looks cool and has a good voice

The Boss. It seems kind of off to call her a villain, considering how that game ends, but she was definitely an antagonist in that game. Easily the best female character I've seen in a game.

Ganondorf: Probably one of my favorites in the fact that he doesn't just do the standard "bad guy" thing of taunting the hero or anything like that. When you find him in the games, it's either because you ran across him while he was conducting his business, or it's the end of the game.

Kefka: "Some men just want to watch the world burn." No vendetta against the hero, no mommy issues, no real grand scheme. Kefka just wanted to destroy the world because it was something interesting to do. And best of all, the crazy bastard SUCCEEDED. My mind was blown when I was a kid playing this and realized that you had to spend the second half of the game doing what you can to try to salvage the world that Kefka destroyed and now rules.

Kain, The Elder God, and Moebius.

Kain loses being a villain about mid-way through SR2, though.

I remember finding Seymour from FFX quite creepy in his androgynity. I don't know if that's a word.

Oooh, Arthas/The Lich King was pretty great in WotLK, too.
