They should definitely bring the game back to it's roots again, the Americanized shit is getting dull.
@Br3adfan:
You seem not to know your history of the series. GTA: London 1961 and GTA: London 1969, ever heard of them :?
Given that they're both for the first and second games in the series, it makes it integral part of the GTA series foundations and well worth returning to in this current gen. There's also the issue of the series being given birth to via the U.K, not America.
Who else wants the next GTA to take place in London?
" Jeremy Clarkson's Grand Theft Auto: Top Gear Edition. ""If this game was a game, it'll be the best game... in the world."
I don't know how my comment implied that I do not know the series' past, but I am aware of the GTA London games. All I stated was that the series relies on a certain aspect of satire that is generally geared at American culture as a whole.
(Giant Bomb decided it likes to be bold at the moment)

Sorry if I sounded a little grumpy, I can be like that in the mornings. The foundation of the "character" of the series lies in the series infancy and those early games, if you were to play those early games now, you can see them display the exact same attributes /" character" of the modern games, albeit in modernized form.
It's the early games that have set the character of GTA franchise, not latter games.
" @Devil240Z said:Yeah that game was glitchy as all hell but it was a good ride for sure." Who else wants a new "The Getaway"? that game was awesome. "I loved The Getaway. Sure it had some issues, but I had a lot of fun with that game. "
" GTA Sydney? So it can get banned in Australia again. Also, one mission should involve a corrupt Attorney General who tries to ban video games. "You have my vote.
LOL why london?! I suppose is enough crime and stuff in London so it wouldnt be far from the truth LOL
" The best part about gta games is the parody of american culture. London wouldn't be nearly as fun. "Thats true, i would love to see a GTA London but will never happen. It wouldnt appeal to the vast majority.
Why the hate for a London setting? I'm sure rockstar could pull it off well. Besides, it 's not as overused as the new york type cities that seem to be in far too many films/games recently. London sounds awesome to me, Liberty City I think with IV and all it's expansions has been used enough now, and if you want more Americanness, get Red Dead Redemption when it comes out, I know I will. Rockstar North is here in Britain anyway.
Neh. The only way to go is San Fierro (San Fransisco) late 1960's - early 1970's. That is the ONLY way to go. Imagining that Dirty Harry-aesthetic in a GTA-game makes me hard.
GTA doesn't take place in actual cities, but I assume you mean some sort of London-inspired city. That'd be okay, but the above mentioned Getaway has that covered. Honestly, how about something entirely different from Rockstar. I know I am way out on a ledge on my own on this, but how about GTA-in space? I've been playing the seedier aspects of Mass Effect 2 lately, and it seems to me that something like that future underworld would be a nice play ground for the GTA world. If Rockstar can graft the open-world game template to the Old West with Red Dead Redemption? Who wouldn't like to get involved in slave-trading hot alien babes, or smuggling high-tech mechs and killbots? How much fun would it be to steal a bunch of space ships? Of course, space ship "jacking" would be different in an open universe game. Maybe you character would have your own intergalactic pirate ship, and stealing a space ship would involve boarding the craft and taking key locations. It's an idea at least that hasn't been fully explored in a long time.
I am not touching another GTA until it's set in outer space. I was done with GTA after three, and I was especially done after play four for an hour. No space no interest! Who's with me?
No. There isn't really that much of a british culture that you can take the piss out of so it'd be pretty boring.
" London seems like a nice diversion from the norm... Anything non-us would open up some options that previous GTA's never had. "
Contrary to popular belief, The Getaway 3 is still in development. I never played the second but absolutely loved the first despite its long list of issues, so I've no real desire to see a GTA in London. I wouldn't want a GTA set in any European city really, as parodying American culture is one of GTA's greatest longstanding attributes. I think having the next GTA set on the Mexican border in the mid 80's, ala No Country For Old Men would be really interesting. As far as that goes, I think that setting has a ton of dramatic potential that would fit with their new darker theme.
"I'd love it
but I know they'd put some horrible cockney voice acting in and i'd want to punch the developers in the face for getting our accents wrong (albeit, probably would be used for the humour.. but still)
@Lowbrow: Can't forget the rudeboys :P "
Grand Theft Auto... Bad Voice Acting?!?!??! WHAT?!?!?
The Getaway was just a bit too ahead of its time. Like the lack of HUD, the damage system...People hated it at the time but it's the norm now, just it's been tweaked and bettered. As for the next GTA, they can't have another city the same size as Liberty. It was an amazing achievement, stunning to look at, but by the end of Episodes I hated it. I wouldn't mind a few smaller cities, maybe being able to make use of the airport. So maybe a few of the big ones across Europe, also like the idea of an Asian version, Hong Kong-Bangkok-Beijing. Only problem is alI the languages, it would lack reality unless they had subtitles. I don't know...I have faith in Rockstar though.
I don't thing it will be in London, the cop chases would be dull because the police would'nt ram you cause they don't want to damag their ickle Astra's :D
Shanghi ftw!
" @Blu_Magic: That makes no sense, I was just answering your question, sorry I embarrassed you but I'm not going to argue with you. "LMAO.
Let me break it down for you. I asked why you think it shouldn't come out anytime soon, and you give me a bullshit answer "It's NOT TEH NECESSARY." I gave you a clear cut and easily comprehensible response. Hell, I'll elaborate on it for you. Saying a new installment in the series is unnecessary makes no sense because there's only been ONE GAME in the series this gen, and on top of that, those who feel the same way as you DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT.
