I've searched for this topic beforehand and haven't seen any made in a long time so forgive me if I overlooked one.

So what game did you latch onto the longest, consecutively speaking?

Minecraft for the 360, 7-8 hours straight. My arms and legs were so sore.......

Yesterday I played Diablo 3 for 14 hours.

Skyrim on launch day. Something like 15 hours.

#4 Posted by NTM (7319 posts) -

I've probably played a game for much longer, but I know I beat Dead Space in one sitting, which is about 12 hours.

#5 Posted by StarvingGamer (8128 posts) -

Probably beating MGS2 the night it came out, then immediately beating it again, in one sitting.

#6 Posted by Winternet (8012 posts) -

I'm pretty sure there's a thread made on this subject pretty recently.

Civilization V for sure. Easily 12+ hours straight at times, no idling either.

I was probably hung over, and didnt leave the house. Probably didnt move unless to go to the washroom or get food. I'd say...in the 10 hour range

Jesus.

I don't do it very often anymore. My longest in memory was the launch of Wrath of the Lich King where I probably put in a few back-to-back 16 hour days rushing to the level cap. That was fun.

More recently, Batman: Arkham City surprised me with a really long game session. I got up to find it had already arrived, put it in, and played it until I had finished the story. Probably about 12 hours. I like jumping between activities too much for it to happen all that often.

halo 2 for 16 hrs (multiplayer)

#13 Edited by myketuna (1669 posts) -

My buddy, his crew, and I played Super Smash Bros. Brawl one day from 6PM to 9AM. So 27 hours? We were really into Brawl...

:::EDIT:::

My math is off. It'd be 15 hours. That's better. I was AWAKE for 27 hours.

I played Oblivion for about 20 hours when it first came out (PC version). That's probably the longest gaming session I can think of right now.

#15 Posted by DallasTheGamer (154 posts) -

I do 6-7 hour sessions sometimes. Doesn't matter what game. I hate when I do it though because it kills too much time and then I feel bad about it.

#16 Posted by corruptsaves (214 posts) -

@BaneFireLord: Something like that for me too, booked a week off for that one.

I clocked up the hours too quickly and it was just today I started it up again after a long cool down period. Think I'll just be able to manage little chunks now.

Cataclysm when it came out for 36 hours :s ended up vomiting after :D

#18 Posted by ZeForgotten (10397 posts) -

My longest is sadly not as "impressive" because it was a 3 day lan (like literally 3x24 hours) but there was 5 hours of sleep that weekend so it was ruined.
Did play through Mass Effect 1 and 2 last weekend and that took around 14 hours, but there was dinner and pee breaks and a shower during those games so yeah

Probably Bad Company 2, played for like 9 hours straight or something close. Been having some pretty major Diablo sessions as well though, haven't been keeping track of game session length though.

#22 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5813 posts) -

Killer7, somewhere between 6 or 8 hours

#23 Posted by barberforce (103 posts) -

@Grimmrobe: Yeah mostly vomited due to too many sugar snacks and a head ache :D

I had a 12 hour minecraft marathon... never again..

#29 Posted by PhilipDuck (540 posts) -

Think when Gears of War (no. 1) came out, I played that multiplayer for like 11 hours straight. Thought it was amazing at the time.

#30 Posted by kmg90 (419 posts) -

I think its a tie between GTA:SA, GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption of 15-20 hours straight (the game even keeps track which is encourages me to keep breaking the records)

Probably completing Shadow of the Colossus in one sitting, only about 8 or 9 hours.

#33 Posted by Robiin (294 posts) -

I beat Mass Effect 1 three times in one sitting. Two times I completed separate versions of "Beat the majority of the game with squadmate X" so that means I did most of the side qeusts in the game. The last time was a speed run for a difficulty achievement which bugged on me and didn't unlock anyway.. I basically know that game inside and out so that last run only took me something like 3 hours (and it was only main quest missions), but the first two times must have been like 8-9 hours each. I love that game.

Also, Smash Bros. Brawl and Melee. I remember specifically Brawl because the Wii has that "Time Played today" thing in the message service of the console. On launch day, it didn't say I played anything at all even though I got the game early in the morning. I thought that was weird, but then it turned out my friends and I had played the game for so long that it became after midnight. So I have more than 24 hours played of Brawl in one day on the console...

I'll just post what I had in the other thread:

I've beaten Halo 3 with my brother in one sitting before. Good times. We also spent all day playing the first one on Legendary before, but that was a while ago and we had breaks.

Anyway, longest non-stop gaming session save for the occasional pee and Cheez-It breaks? Dragon Age Origins. I had almost given up on the game, but I decided to roll a new character when I woke up real early one Saturday morning. So I had breakfast and made a new mage, and spent from about 8:00 AM to about 2:00 AM the next day playing it. Note that this includes getting up every now and then, but never for more than ten minutes or so.

Other than that? Nothing. I can't think of a single game I've played, non-stop, for longer than that. These days, I generally only play for two hours at most before I get up and do something else for a little while, but I do play games at least once a day, every day.

Damn, if in those middle school days I'd had the same number of games as I do now, every day would have been an infinite gaming session.

Back when Knights of the old republic first came out i think i spent about 15 hours playing. i even ended up getting a bed sore or somthing from sitting in my chair for so long lol.

ever since then i force myself to move around if im playing for a long time. recently i spent close to five hours playing dragons dogma. i kept making myself get up to take the dog out or just move around for a few mins.

20 something hours of WOW:TBC at launch.

12 hours of RE5 co-op the first day? maybe 10? With the same person but took bathroom and food breaks.

I consider bathroom, showers and food acceptable. However food is usually microwave or delivery during these times

#37 Posted by Elyk247 (366 posts) -

Probably Oblivion. I played that when I got it for Christmas, for like 2 hours. When my mom finally quit bitching about spending time with the family I think i played about 34 hours straight, and that was without even touching the main quest.

I also like to play through Psychonauts in one sitting, but that's only about 6-8 hours.

#38 Posted by Monopolized (456 posts) -

27.5 hours with two 1 hour breaks for food and by that I mean Dominoes, and it was for for Diablo 3

#39 Posted by Nameless2000 (67 posts) -

Getting the achievement with my brother for beating the Endless Setlist without pausing in Rock Band 2.

Worth it.

#40 Posted by Rohok (554 posts) -

Probably about 24 hours for Operation Flashpoint back when it first came out in like 2001 or whatever.

#41 Posted by 49th (2722 posts) -

I used to play MapleStory a few years ago where I played for around 7 hours in one session. I never play that long any more though, 3 hours is my maximum because I just get too bored.

#42 Posted by deox (210 posts) -

I'm not much of a marathon gamer, I find I get bored after a couple hours, even if it's a game I really enjoy. The only exception would be when I'm playing multiplayer with buddies... but even then, there is definitely a limit to what I can endure.

#43 Edited by RichmanUK (16 posts) -

Probably not that impressive relative to some of the stints mentioned above, but back when I was in University (ostensibly studying Maths!) my flatmate and I used to play Starcraft over the LAN in our flat for maybe 12-16 hours a day for a good while. Still remember lying in bed trying to sleep with the image of little SCVs running around behind my eyes... :D

#44 Posted by Canteu (2821 posts) -

Skyrim for about 40 hours.

Burning crusade for about 65.

These are my longest sessions of note.

#45 Posted by DjCmeP (1148 posts) -

12 hours in AC2, Arkham Asylum and GTA 4.

The game has to be VERY GOOD if I play it that long..I normally play in 2-4 hour sessions.

#46 Posted by natetodamax (19191 posts) -

Nothing longer than maybe 8 hours or so. I eventually reach a point, especially when it's late at night, where I'm just too tired to carry on.

#47 Posted by GunslingerPanda (4689 posts) -

Either Skyrim, WoW, or StarCraft 2. I don't want to think about how long the sessions were, probably close to 24 hours.

It's been a loooong time since ive played anything more than an hour or two continuously , but I do remember having like 6 hour marathons of Red Alert with my cousin.

Well me and a buddy did the Rock Band 2 Endless Setlist which got us to about 10 hours of playing because of the hardest song in the game. I told him to practice it and he thought he would do fine, BS. So an hour or so latter it was me trying not to faint on drums but still keep up 2 players then reviving him right after his solo and cruise to a sold 3 stars. The last 2 songs were easy for me as it was basically muscle memory. This was the longest single game for consecutive hours. Probably close to 12 hours in switching from game to game and running to get food real quick to revive me.
