Hey guys I just wanted to see what you guys think about adoption..I
think its really sweet when people adopt!

Infact I have a pic of one of my cute little guinea piggys that I adopted about a month and a half ago!
Its on my profile as my background (though you cant see it to well)

I adopted him along with another..I named them Zuko and Aang =] hehe I know Im such a nerd..
anyways what do you guys think about adoption???

I think alot more people should adopt I plan to hopefully in the future
Id like to adopt and or foster 2 children..possibly foster to adopt!
and maybe even foster some animals and of course adopt some
I love!! animals!

I wish more people would adopt and I dont care what there orientation
religion or race is because none of that should matter as long as the kids
are going into loving homes..it would be nice if people could adopt animals to

right now Im trying to see if I'll be able to adopt a dog
she only has 3 legs and shes kind of sick..
wish me luck on this one

anywho

what are your views on it???

I think any kid you adopt will be the stereotypical rebel that will always use the excuse in an arguement "You aren't my real parents"
They will always be troubled by the fact that their parents are gone or didn't want them and will therefore have anger issues.

I've known three people who were adopted in my life, and they all were brats. Except this one guy he was a jerk at first, big black guy, really intimidating. He used to bully me but then I just started to talk with him and he was a real cool dude, but would get really angry when someone mentioned that he was adopted.

Personally, I don't adopt anything. Dogs and cats I get as puppies/kittens from the pet store, and I wouldn't adopt a child.

Why? I don't get pets to save them, I get them to have a long term bond right from the get-go. That way they are happy, and accustomed to their environment. And kids, I'd want to have my own, not someone elses. Unless I had problems having my own (if you get my drift) then I'd consider adoption.

My cousin is adopted and he told his mom when she told him he was adopted that it's okay because his real parents didn't want him so she is his real mom to him now. He is a really nice person as well and has never used the "you aren't my real parents" thing ever.

Adopting pets is fine. As for kids, well, I don't know. If it's the only way you can possibly have a kid then I guess it's okay.

Also, no need to use poem format to make posts.

I respect your opinon pirate I dont completely agree with it though
I just think that later in your life..you make friends and get married
you and your partner and friends did not start off meeting eachother
from the get go..an I think your pet or adopted child should be considerd as your friend
you'll learn to bond with it and grow to feel closer..with an animal
as well as a child..I think love has no bounderies as long as your hearts open to it

Ps..I like using poem fortmat!!..it gives a full effect

Animals are fun to adopt when they are young and you can still teach them new stuff. Adopting an older pet feels more like watching your neighbors dogs forever.

I dont agree with that at all..I adopted my 2 guinea pigs and my dog was adopted also
I dont feel like Im missing out at all..I teach them new things and watch them do and learn new things all the time
I love them just as much as I love my cat which Ive had since she was a kitten..
My guinea pigs at first were so scared of me and there new home..especially since they were abandonded 4 times!!
but as time went by they get closer and closer to me every day..even recently they were licking my forhead
and my nose! in the beginging they ran from me even when I just put my finger in the cage
Its a hole new feeling for all 3 of us and Ive never felt so loved! I have 4 amazing pets
and I wouldnt trade them for baby pets or any other animals in the world

Well, I guess it boils down to me not liking to buy "used" things. I know it sounds ignorant and artificial to treat a pet as a "thing" that is "new or used", but that's what it boils down to. There's no practical reason for me really, it's just a personal preference.

I have no problem with adoption, really. I have adopted a few pets in my lifetime, and loved them. Sadly, I don't really see myself adopting anytime soon(when I'm with someone, I mean.. in my own house and such). Although I might end up considering it, give a kid a home and such. Just so long as he/she isn't a brat with me. D;

In the end I consider it a really nice thing to do, it's just that at times the kid being adopted won't really consider it "nice". I am also speaking from experience, like MustacheHero.

Zuko and Aang ... Hehe. Cute! I hope they don't fight too much :P I also hope you don't dress them up in ridiculous looking cosplay getups and take pictures to immortalize their humiliation.

About adopting, I figure we need people to adopt animals and children. But it's obviously not for everyone.
My girl and I just adopted two male cats (Siber, and Desperado McSquidge). They were orphaned as tiny kittens, and a small rescue shelter worked hard to get them into a good home. It is a bummer to not have known them as tiny kittens. But we got them young enough for them to adjust properly to us, and now after only months we couldn't imagine NOT having them.

As for kids, I'd rather have a child of my own some day. But if my spouse and I aren't able to "bare fruit", then we'd probably adopt because we love children, and would appreciate the challenge of raising a person properly.

I think you should adopt rather than have a baby yourself, don't ruin your body for something that's probably going grow up to hate you.

Also, there are too many humans. So don't be selfish, adopt if you must have a screaming, writhing ball of fat and mucus.

Too many humans? Wtf  dude? Just say too many people, don't make it so goddamn nerdy. However though the baby part was completely right..... and so was the ruining of her own body in the process of birth, but look at Jessica Alba dude, she's done pretty damn well with birth.

If all we do is adopt, then we are doing a disservice to the gene-pool. You gotta think the conditions in which a lot of the adopted children are conceived and brought to term are much less than ideal.
Of course these kids need homes, and good on the people who provide them with that. But we can't just stop having kids, and leave that to only the people who don't even WANT/can't take CARE of their own kids. That's just unhealthy for a species.
But in essence, your message is fine. More adoption and less birth would be great for now, as overpopulation is probably the biggest threat to people moving forward. But in the long run if everyone adopted it would eventually ruin us just like overpopulation will.

How the hell do you adopt a guinea pig? As far as I know they live in cages in houses as pets. Its not like there are wild guinea pigs or a guinea pig shelter. Is there?

I think it´s good when people adopt animals, they deserve a good life. And knowing that some of these poor things comes from people who had no clue how to take care of them, its nice to know that these shelters take them in and gives them new caring homes.

Also i think adopting kids are fine too, especially if you cant make one your self. And just like the animals its a nice gesture freeing them from what would probably become a very bleak existence.

I'm glad at least a couple of you have the same view that it can be good to adopt. I've considered if I ever have kids  would consider adopting as well as having my own.

As for pets, what the hell?? I have never had a difference in experience between adopting a pet and getting one at a pet store, you lot are crazy if you think a pet, a kitten for example, that is the same age as a kitten up for adoption, would somehow have more of a bond with you because it is "new" from the pet store, fucks sake.

I think animal adoption should be used as a last resort. You will love your pet so much more and care for it more if you've actually given birth to it. Adopting a pet is nice but you never truly feel connected to it.

oopsy I accidentally sent this as priv msg to someone..anywho this was my reply to how I adopted them

my guinea pigs were abandoned 4 times an were headed to a shelter that was meant for dogs and cats
but it was taking in many other animals because I guess they just didnt want them to go without homes and suffer
I adopted them before they got to the shelter because I had met them before and they couldnt be place with a home
at first I wasnt going to adopt them only because I have a dog and a cat to be responsible for already..but Im glad I did
it was worth it and I grow to love them more everyday..its not that hard once you get used to doing
the same things on a daily basis..
feeding (pellets/timothyhay/veggies & sometimes fruits)
Changing water 2-3 times daily
giving timothy hay every few hours unlimited
playing and being with them atleast 1-2 hours daily
floor time 1-2hours which I need a frickin playpin! (one i bought broke)
checking on them every hour
& only changing there cage once every 8 days
ohhh and scooping up there litte shitballs..

Lol thats basically my guinea pigglet schedule
Im used to it now =]

EDIT: guess what! I might add a vid on here so you guys can see my piggys popcorn!
there so cute when they do it! u guys gota see! maybe I'll add it tomorrow or somethin =]
        anywho..that was it lol

Ha ha and i´m not saying you should know, you just seemed so certain that you knew you machinery was in order. All i was trying to point out is, that you never know until the day its needed, and the older you get the more your chances decreases of making a child. So you never know if you will end up having no other choice than to adopt a child. "
I may consider the idea if there was a problem with my wang but I'd still be uncertain to be honest, it's like looking after a distant friend's kid after they die or something... it'd just be a little weird for me.

@TheMustacheHero:
I always adopt a cat from charity when i get one, it is my view that these horribly traumatised animals just need love and appreciation, after having been abused by their formers owners. I have adopted 2 cats so far and after a few weeks both of them have been lovely.
Not only does adopting give these cats a better life, it also lets you know you have done a good thing.

Adopted children also may have been abused physically or sexually by their guardians, the very people who were supposed to protect them from harm. Maybe the 'brat' adopted children you met may have been emotionally scarred and just need love. I have met many adopted children as my aunt has adopted a few and they never use your steriotipical 'you aren't my real parents' phrase. My aunt is the person who looked after them as they grew up so SHE is their real parent.

But as i always was and is around pets... i have to say animal adoption isn't for everyone, and a person should think carefully about it.

Even because if it isn't really thought thru the pet will probably land again on the street.

Also addopting older pets isn't also for everyone, as it can turn on the owner.

But i like much more addopting... even because i feel better knowing that there isn't one more animal suffering.

That i can give care and love to, and make it feel much better.

Though even if adopting in the current state of the world can be considerer a good thing... we are, generally, conditioning the animals into a golden prison. I liked much more to see them  hanging around free.

But that's just me!

Is it just me, or does talking about adopting children and adopting pets in the same forum post seem weird. They're two veeeeeery different things with very different responsibilities, and combining the two into one forum thread kinda makes it seem like you're devaluing childrens lives by comparing them to animals. I know you don't mean that, but it just seems weird and wrong.

I can def see where your coming from but from my stand point
I find a humans life no more valuable then an animals
I love children and babies..and even old people!!
Im kind of..this sounds fukn cheesey but *maternal*
anyone and anything that is defensless..I have a need
to protect and care for....on the other hand
this may sound insane but if I had to kill
or watch someone or something be killed
I'd rather it be an adult or teenager..someone like me
to be killed rather then to see an animal/baby/child/old person
be killed..crazy huh?? gaaah I guess I do need a little help lol
but thats just how I feel =]
