Every Day The Same Dream
I was browsing 1UP.com and came across Sam Kennedy's ' Make Sure You Didn't Miss These 2009 Games' blog, a lot of people probably know who he is; An editor over at 1UP.
Anyways, So in his list he had this indie game called Every Day the Same Dream, and he said that it was his Game of the Year. I thought that was pretty insane, considering all the great releases this year, So I gave the game a go.
It takes around 15 or so minutes to complete, and damn, that game. Its really amazing. I don't really want to say anything about it because everyone should get their own interpretations of it first, but its very powerful, and I even felt my eyes start to water at a certain part.
So if your interested, give the flash game a try and tell me what you think.
Every Day The Same Dream
I'll check this out if you check Gravity Bone out.
Also, Sam Kennedy is the fucking man. He's one of the only good guys left at 1up.
Up until the end, I was thinking to myself, "Although expertly done, this is kind of a generic message". Then the ending. Oh boy, that ending." @HaltIamReptar said:

I have no idea what's going on anymore. With anything.

Well, that was quite a waste of time. I hate it when games try so hard to get a message across. This just screamed "Heyy bro, the mayyun is tryin'a take us down... We gotta like... Separate ourselves from this constricting society duude."... It makes me want to punch a hippie in the face. The only message that I got out of that was that if you commit suicide, everyone else will realize that suicide is a pretty good idea.
Here's hoping the message is working its subliminal way in then..." Well, that was quite a waste of time. I hate it when games try so hard to get a message across. Meh, was ok.
I like all the comments saying that it was "boring" and therefore disappointing. Did you read the name?
" What game designers need to understand is that you put in the artistic premise and themes AFTER you make fun gameplay. "Yeah people think SotC and Ico are so artistic. Fumito Ueda says that he always think of a gameplay idea first, and then builds a story around it.

I understand the purpose of the game, but it's one beated to death before.

Personally, I saw what it was going for, but didn't really think it was that 'powerful'. Maybe I'm just not 'down' with this 'art', but it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Also, there were no explosions. What kind of game doesn't have any explosions!?
Yep, it ends in office. I forgot that..." @Jeust said:

@Everybody
I wasn't saying the ending was particularly good - I in fact had thought it was weird on purpose to seem deep.
Hrm, I thought this was one of those "popular" indie games; heard about it a few weeks back. For those interested, I felt it had imagery that was reminiscent of the "Colour My World" and "Colour My Heart" games, if you haven't played those either; they're well worth checking out.
Have to admit, I thought it was pretty interesting how they explored some existentialist ideas with the game, but I thought it was a bit taxing getting all the way through with the soundtrack repeating and the actions staying relatively consistent.
Thanks for posting this- i really really enjoyed playing through this, i will admit i did consult a walkthrough for the
But that was sheerly me not thinking straight.
I can see why a lot of people may throw this game aside as pretentious or as preachy and-
"oh too art house duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude" hippy style
But if nothing else this games existence is making people here and elsewhere discuss life, death, work, the meaning of things existing, and how you find comfort in small things and prioritising - which to me can only be a good thing

The only message that I got out of that was that if you commit suicide, everyone else will realize that suicide is a pretty good idea. "What? Isn't the message totally the contrary? I thought, SPOILERS, if any of you even care, that the message was against rebellion or trying to kill yourself because, once you step out of social intent, people might end up just forgetting about you and not realizing you even exist(ed).
To reach the real ending you have to do some tasks, that are not always clear." i cant believe some people need a walkthrough for this game? "
I presented the walkthrough, and i used to know that i had to get the leaf:, i had thought that just watching the fact that it wasn't there was enough, and there wasn't any warning telling me to pick up the leaf. Like me, other people had their own problems - the game though easy, it relies much on personal intuition.
It reminded me of Don't Look Back, which was more of a game, but it had that same stark, artsy-fartsiness about it.
