Shawshank Redemption. When Brooks hangs himself... :'( Possibly the saddest part in any movie I've seen. Aside from that, Step-mom and Pride & Prejudice. I hardly ever cry at movies but these did it for me.
Films that made you cry. Even as a manly man of a man.
First of all, have to say that I am glad I am not the only one around these parts that tends to shed a tear during movies. Some of the ones mentioned like Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan etc. This might be a stupid one but Jackass the Movie made me cry first time I seen it. Crying of laughter that is. :P
I remember shedding a tear at the end of Murder In The First just because of what happens to the character and I really like that movie. Also, shed a tear at the end of Benjamin Button also, which some of you out there might find strange. I am glad Click was mentioned since it was sad on what happened and did get me a little teary-eyed. There is another movie I remember getting teary-eyed over but it has completely gone out of my mind at the time being. Homeward Bound at the end when Shadow comes back as you thought he was gone, gets me every time. And ROTK I did get teary-eyed over just because of the ending and that the fellowship will never see each other again in a way.
I have to admit that I cried a bit while watching the part in LoTR where (SPOILER!!!) Boromir dies.
He was the best member of the fellowship!
The Shawshank Redemption of course!!
Also: The Iron Giant, Up, Wall-E, Its a Wonderful Life, and many, many more.
It doesn't take much for me to cry, kind of sad really. (Ha!)
The first movie that ever made me cry was Dumbo.
Grave of the Fireflies had me crying like a baby O_o
Serenity, because it was the end of a great series
fire of the flies or something like that. its an anime movie that looks pretty realistic, and at the biginning you find out the boy and his sister die and you see how theyre lives worsen. they are japanese victimes of war in 1945 and have aweful lives. the shawshank redemtion was sad but i turned it into an inside joke with my firends "GET SHAWSHANK REDEEMED!!" (rapings up the ass and beatings for 20 years lol) the ending of death note was sad i was a kira supporter. oh god i don't remember some things in the back of my mind. oh ya i was sitting here for 5 minutes thinking: requiem for a dream was really sad. the 2 main victimes (you know who i'm talking 'bout) really made me upset. damn that shit sent out the message of drugs harder and more lasting than ANY school shit i EVER had. Well it was up theyre. one time in grade 8 a policeman came into my class and it started out like the regular crap, but by the end he told us of how he hated to come home to parents and tell them theyre kid isn't coming home. that i'll never forget
" @TheMustacheHero said:Honestly I've never watched a movie that has made me cry, that being said though, I don't watch chick flicks I mainly watch action movies." No movie makes me cry. I AM A MANLY MAN! "Come on...No need to hide your feelings here. Just let it out. "
" UpMonster's IncActually, just about every Pixar movie. Can't think of any other. "The beginning of Up was fucking depressing. It was a great movie though, possibly Pixar's best. Tied with Wall-E, in my opinion.
" "Click" wasn't sobbing but I shed a tear. "Same here. I don't really know why....
Click, My Dog Skip (I was 8), and most recently, not a movie, but the finale of Battlestar Galactica. I'm still sad about that shit.
I finally got to watch Grave of the Fireflies, I will admit that I was pretty damn close to sobbing near the end of the movie. I haven't enjoyed an animated movie like that in a very long time. Also, as someone else said. John Q is a very well done movie, I almost forgot about that one.
Last time was a few years back when I was watching Disney's "The Fox and The Hound" with my daughter, She must have been about 5 then, and by the end she was in tears saying "but they just wanted to be friends..." Even now I get a little choked up remembering her look of devestation. More recently though the end of Half life 2 Episode 2 really caught me off guard and I felt a little lip wobble. If you have followed the characters story like I have and you don't get an emotional response at that fade to black, then you probably dont have a soul.
Independence Day. The part at the end when old dude says "Hello, boys! I'm baaaaack!" That shit just gets me teary cuz like I feel happy AND sad at the same time for the guy. And it's probably burned into me since I did cry when I saw that movie in 97-98(?) being 6-7 at the time, and now I guess I do it because it's tradition. lol.
" Also, Million Dollar Baby got me REALLY sad by the ending. "This, super sad stuff there
" Grave of the Fireflies. I was watching it on my computer as my younger brother was watching the tv and had to pause the movie and lock myself in the bathroom so I wouldn't embarassingly cry in front of him. It was the first time since I was a child that I ever bawled that hard. I was honestly curled up on the floor sobbing into my hands. "props to you sir for mentioning this one. I havent seen this movie in years and I remember that it absolutely killed me when i saw.
as far as a little more recently:
-the opening sequence in UP is heartbreaking in the extreme, as well as when Carl sees the rest of the book. Both had me crying
-Shawshank Redemption always gets me too when the camera is pulling back and Red and Andy finally meet up and hug
-and guaranteed tears from Return of the King and the Pelennor Fields. The spears scene before the Rohirrim ride, and Theoden's last scene with Eowyn
" Big Fish. Gets me every time. "I second that. I couldn't breathe. And everything happening on-screen is supposed to be so happy! Brilliant, brilliant film.
Yeah the end of saving private ryan killed me i shed some tears as soon as he salutes to the grave it gets me
green mile got me
as of late
i cried watching seven pounds
that movie was good
Million Dollar Baby. Greatmovie.
Edit: Decided to also add Reign Over Me. Didn't necesarilly make me cry, but definitely affected me. Living in Australia, i didn't feel the effects and repurcussions of 9/11 as harshly as some of you in America no doubtedly did, but this movie really opened my eyes to how much that one day changed the lives of so many people. Definitely one of my favourite movies.
Some of the stories the veterans of Band Of Brothers tell are pretty touching, my eyes teared up a little on some of them.
The Thin Red Line- man's truest interpretation of what war is.
Graves of the Fireflies- only anime i ever really enjoyed on a narrative and character level.
Requiem For A Dream- drugs 'r' bad
Night and Fog- I can't ever watch this movie again.
Hmm seems movies about war kinda get to me.
I also remember crying at the end of The Dark Crystal when i was a kid.
