I never really post but I watch all the videos on Giantbomb and trust me I love the GB crew but if i were Corey I would quit. Why does he put up with all the shit and disrespect he gets? I'm 100% sure the internship isn't worth it. I would love to be in GB and work with them but if they didn't like me I wouldn't stick around to be treated like that.
Interns
haha yeah I never said I like him the scrub league definitely convinced me of that. I'm just saying if I knew they generally didn't like me I wouldn't stay.Everyone except Ryan seems like they are playing around with him so I wouldn't mind them.
From everything I have seen of Ryan over the years he just seems like a grade A asshole so I would expect nothing less from him.
They are probably treating them like crap on camera for shits and giggles. No harm intended.I'm going to have to go with this.
He does say somethings that are embarrassing for even the people around him to hear, but he's a good dude. I doubt they're being malicious.
Being a dick to the interns is a joke. I'm sure the on-screen banter with the interns isn't anywhere near as intense during their daily duties, and when it does happen, it's all in jest. And they know that.
Also, Corey deserved the shit he got on the scrub league. Anyone who says "full of win" deserves to be lambasted.
I never said I like him the scrub league definitely convinced me of that..Dudewhat.
You don't like someone you've never met, who's made one bad on-air joke?
People. Geez.
(Havn't posted in a year or so but thought I'd chime in here...)
Having some kind of hierachy in the Whiskey Media/Giant Bomb office seems like something they would be toootally against. I thought it was just "banter" but after watching Ryan tell the intern to 'shut the fuck up' on last night's TNT I'm beginning to doubt that. You don't speak to another adult like that, intern or not. I just thought it was fucking lame is all.

I really don't understand why Ryan is such an asshole now. He used to be polite, now he's arrogant and doesn't care at all about other people.
The reason I love Ryan on camera is because he is an asshole. It was hilarious when he filed a complaint after a misclick on TNT. I'm sure that the intern bashing is something that only happens on camera. And I think (hope?) Ryan was joking when he said STFU, but I have to agree that that was disrespectful regardless.
I was surprised by Ryan last night, he just seemed to be in a generally shitty mood throughout, which is weird for someone who usually appears so down to earth. I also don't appreiate being labelled 'assholes', he'll if TNT is that much of a chore, give the controller to someone else. It is these 'assholes' after all that keep your website going and pay the bills.
I find it funny people are having an issue with Ryan saying STFU to an intern when there are dicks or however you wanna say it in the live chat section. I ended up turning off chat during Dirt 3 TNT just because people tend to act like little 13yr old X360 retards. I've actually seen far worse shit being said in live chat then the "Ohh Noes!! Ryan said STFU to an Intern /popcorn". It's possible Ryan may have been overtired (I think he was on the road most of the week) and was kinda screwed since Drew wasn't there to enjoy this Dirt 3 TNT with Ryan since they both seem to be the big fans of this series at GB (kinda wished they would have postponed this event til Drew was available since he did an amazing job on the Quicklook).
I saw most of the TNT and didn't really get a sense of any actually honest dick behaviour from Ryan. Just seemed like his normal be-an-excessive-asshole-jokingly-because-it's-funny routine. And it is funny. I dunno, it's a fairly common Australian thing to rip 10 shades of shit out of your mates just for a laugh; it's all in good fun.
Ryan has always acted like a dick. Every intern had to deal with it from what I have seen/heard.
All this is reminding me of a Bombcast a year or two ago when Jeff told Ryan "This is why you get threads asking why your such a dick".
I believe he had to squelch the rumors about him hating Brad on that same Bombcast.
Have you never had a job before? New guys always get the ass-end of everything. Grow some balls.
As a soon to be intern, I'm ready for whatever bullshit the staff may throw at me. However, I'm more used to being treated poorly in a professional setting than the other interns most likely. But it's more of a joke to be mean to interns.

Jesus people, we don't see what these gentlemen are like off camera. I imagine the off camera office stuff is just that: office stuff. People sitting quietly at their desks typing shit or playing games. Maybe interns fetching coffee, because that's what interns do anywhere. Not hazing or hold grudges against each other.
In my experience, overweight gentlemen tend to go in one of two directions. jokey asshole or obsessively nice. Ryan is the former.
I don't know Ryan, but I'm guessing he's a big fucking teddy bear. But don't slap him on the ass, and never, ever, slip him the tongue. I also keep this quote from Ryan in my See Mini Bio.

well, it's not about having permission or anything, it's more like not getting in the way of other people jobs you know, like they wouldn't be filming and joking around as much so they wouldn't be a nuisance to people that are trying to edit or write something. like this weeks podcast, at the end there was a guy asking them if they would be wrapping up already because or some event or something that would be going on there. before they had their own space, so that was not a problem, but now is totally different. "" @onarum said:
pff since when have they ever asked permission to do anything. "" I don't know about this, I feel like since now they are sharing the same space with a bunch of other people, we won't see as much as the crazy videos they used to put out, like they won't have the same amount of freedom. "
Yeah, the nature of our space has changed, but GIANT BOMB IS STILL THE SAME. If I knew how to edit myself around other people, I wouldn't be here in the first goddamn place.

@Claude: That was a fun video.
Giving interns shit is just part of working. It's happened at every job I have ever had...
Although I thought yelling at Corey to shut the fuck up was a bit much, just because it seemed like Ryan was being totally serious... But everything else I have seen and heard seems just like the normal joking giving the intern shit stuff.
