Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger.. Who is the better joker?!

Very very tough decision for me.. Seeing as how Nicholson is one of my all time favorite actors and i also think ledger's performance was amazing.  I liked how Nicholson portrayed the Joker more accurate with how the Comic book Joker was however I loved the darkness of the Ledger joker. I do think overall performance wise, Nicholson was just more entertaining to watch and did a overall better joke although Ledger was amazing and I prefered his style overall.

Both great performances, but both very different. Have to give the nod to Ledger though.

I agree. I love both performances, though. Jack's was always one of my favorites.

To me i have to give it to ledger. Ledger showed the Sick Side of the Joker. Ya never saw that in saturday morning cartoons (Old Batman cartoons Rocked) If you look at both Nichlolson and Ledger. Ledger as the Joker brought the jokers insanty to life with cruel sick ways to hurt people. You just didnt see that with Nicholoson.

The Main Question is if you were batman who would you want to face Nicholsen or ledger

Wow, I hate to say it but this is like comparing apples to oranges. In the end though I have to give the advantage to Nicholson because his Joker was more true to the actual comics.

Heath Ledger was epic. But Jack Nicholson's a classic. In the end, I think Heath Ledger was better. He was intense!

jack nicholson as joker was just himself with makeup. He looked ridiculous and fat, he wasnt all too great. Heath Ledger changed alot just for this role alone.

Jack Nicholson is the far superior actor, in any role.

Although the movie with Jack's Joker is pretty nostalgic for me.

Bit of an unfair comparison. The movies, while they have the same name and almost the same origin, are very different. The one with Jack was made as an adaptaion of the batman comic, meaning no real realism, and Jacks joker was meant to be witty/funny/crazy and very over the top, like most Tim Burton directed characters. Plus Jack's joker had no real depth. Now Ledgers joker and Nolans batman, were meant to be in the sense of realism. Nolans batman is supposed to be a real person, fighting real villians. Nolan gave his characters depth, feelings, emotions. I think Ledgers jokers great performance and depth is more a tribute to the great directing of Nolan, not taking anything away from Ledger at all because he was amazing. So who is the better actor, I would personally say Jack. Until this batman I could never picture anyone doing any justice to joker. So my favorite of the 2 is Ledgers character, but don't think that is just thanks to Ledger.

They were both amazing performances, but I have to give the nod to heath ledgar.

Still haven't had time to see the new Dark Knight, im so ashamed.

Ledger's performance was absolutely fantastic; he was a genuine villain, you could really see he was friggen crazy.
