I'm pretty sure I never said that. lol I could honestly care less if you think Phillip Defranco is cool or not, I just found it neat that he (someone who has found moderate internet success, and has a wide fanbase) would mention Jeff as an example of journalistic entegrity. I do find it funny though that so many of you claim to not care or not know who he is, but HAVE to chime in and let me know because you're bored or something lol.

Yup. It's like Ze Frank's DNA was released to the public for mass cloning as soon as his show became popular around 2006. If you've never checked out Ze... his popular shows (the show itself now defunct) are worth checking out, and possibly his TED Talks too. *Edit* Wow, John Gruber just made a Daring Fireball post pointing out that The Show debuted 5 years ago today. Strange coincidence.

Every time Jeff get's any sort of mention, be it his name or what happened on Gamespot, all the Jeff Gerstmann fanboys jump to the forums shouting "OMGZ!!! JEFF HAZ THEZ MENTIONZ!!!"
And it could be anything that closely resembles Jeff, they'll still jizz with excitement over it.

Also as far as youtube celebrities go, he's as big as you can get and at least he's better than RWJ or Shane Dawson. Basically i agree with the OP that it's kinda cool Jeff was mentioned in something that a million people will see.

Dont knock his hustle, dude gets PAID to make YouTube videos and apparently makes a nice living doing it. I remember watching a segment about him on AOTS, and checking him out, and I find him a funny guy, I dont watch ALL his videos, but I click one every once in awhile.
as for the Jump cuts: I remember on a video he did explained why he does Jump cuts, I dont recall fully, but he does the cuts when he tends to ramble on and get off topic or if he flubs a transition (It's pretty much his style) , and he's been doing it for so long, why stop now?
There's lots of guys just like him on YouTube. They are all pants. I think he's one of those guys who got popular because YouTube wanted him to be. You know like those people that end up in your subscriptions that you didn't subscribe to.
I will never understand how people can be so angry about two things:
1) Internet Advertisements 2) Jump Cuts
Phil is a pretty damn good Youtuber when you consider the garbage in the top subscribed list. He might have an abrasive style to some but he generally has a good points to be heard. Also cool that the reference is in there! :)

The jump cuts are annoying because it's the equivalent of looking at someone with a nervous tick. Except the fucker can actually toggle it off.
It's a cheap way to exterminate dead air time to make him seem more witty and sharp than he actually is.
@Doctorchimp: At least in his case I know he's capable of putting a sentence together. He was one of the first to use the style so it would be a little strange to stop, but I get your point. It just irks me a bit that people aren't willing to give his videos a chance because of an editing technique. Especially since he makes a lot of good arguments and touches on a lot of important stuff.
Granted he does always have that one pander story like the Vanessa Hudgens one here, but you gotta draw in people any way you can.
yay Jeff Gerstmann got mentioned by some random person, who I don't know or really couldn't care less for, for like 2 seconds. Lets make an entire thread about it!
His inability to finish a whole sentence without making enough mistakes to need to jump cut four or five times is enough to make this unwatchable, that and his incredible ability to be the least funny or interesting person I've ever heard on youtube.

I actually had heard of the PDS, and there were a few weeks where I liked it. I outgrew it though. I legitimately only think he gets views because all of his video titles are like "KATY PERRY GETS NAKED (NSFW)!" He's no different from every other fucking vlogger on YouTube that isn't funny.
He didn't technically mentioned Jeff. He never said his name directly, so he didn't get the exposure that you think it could've got him. He also says this event as if it was fact, not just a theory. It is a theory people. There is no definitive proof Jeff was fired because of Kane and Lynch. Phil was talking about it like it was confirmed that was why he was fired, which is really why I dislike this. Phil not saying his name or acting as if this was fact makes it seem like he has no actually idea who Jeff was.
I voiced my opinion because that's what this place is for. Me not liking him is an opinion, and I have every right to share it.
