Spaghetti
Pasta or Spaghetti ?
"Pasta. Holds the sauce better. But I like the word spaghetti (or as I like to call it, Spa-Jet-Ee). "
Yes. More sauce = good.
" Isn't spaghetti a type of pasta? "Pasta is a general term for doughy pastry foods. Including spaghetti and rotini (what everyone calls pasta).
" @eroticfishcake: So I can come right out and say that this question is ridiculous, then :P "Yes, or you can consider the actual question, which is pretty much "Do you prefer long noodles or shorter noodles."
Personally, after finding a place that makes fresh linguine, I can never go back and say that other shit is as good. I've never seen fresh-made short noodle pasta at a restaurant or anywhere really.
I prefer any type of pasta that has some thickness to it. For this reason the regular size spaghetti, at least here in Norway, is too narrow for my taste. My favorites are the "ribbons" and some tagliatelle. Aesthetically I prefer whatever that looks like it was cut by hand instead of whatever machine they make to make round spaghetti.
But actually, I prefer the "chinese" noodles. Especially combined with some soup.

" Whenever I eat spaghetti I end up spilling it all down my shirt. So I'll go for pasta. "I really want to watch you eat spaghetti! How on earth do you eat it? Using just your elbows?
This is the place for this
Pity theres no dancing marconi or however you spell it.
" @eroticfishcake: I've never found that a spoon helps. I know how the spoon is supposed to work in combination with the fork, but it never provides any assistance. "People find it better for rolling the pasta. I personally never use a spoon either- it's all about balancing the right density of the spaghetti with the right spacing up and down the fork along with the right balance.
@Jayge: "The Science of Spaghetti", "Spaghetti Roling for Dummies". I think I see a flourishing career in the literary path for you Jayge.
Put a spoon under it while wrapping - works wonders." @eroticfishcake: I atempt to eat it like normal people, with a fork. I wrap it around my fork, but as I bring it up towards my mouth it decides to unravel itself all down my shirt. Spaghetti hates me!!!!! "
EDIT: I see it was already suggested. Never mind.
Pasta hands down. There are so many kinds of pasta and foods it can be cooked with spaghetti doesn't stand a chance. Plus spaghetti is a pain the ass to eat as more of it ends up on me then in me. I just got to the point where i cut it up into small pieces with my fork/knife then scoop it up.
" @MattyFTM: Me neither. And using a spoon always feels a little jarring. Eating spaghetti with two hands? That's just awkward. To be honest, I could probably write a bunch of inane stupid books like that on a variety of ridiculous subjects, which is pretty scary.

On topic. The one pasta I never liked was the wheel and flower shaped ones. They're kinda creepy. As for penne, I find that hot sauce trapped in it can burn when you bite into them.

"Sorry for quoating but come on i never even heard of half of these.
So why'd the post author...never mind. I like pretty much any pasta, be it spaghetti or spätzle - that stuff goes really well with braised lamb. I'd like to try making pasta again, it's amazing how easy and fast it is - takes the same time to make and cook fresh spaghetti as it does to break boxed stuff out of the package and bring it to boil.Pasta is a general term for doughy pastry foods. Including spaghetti and rotini (what everyone calls pasta). "
