POLL: Dog vs. Cat
This topic is locked from further discussion.
This is the third part of my ongoing Animal v. Animal epos. The first was Polar Bear vs. Panda, followed by Lion vs. Tiger. In this third entry, we'll vote for something a bit more personal and that a lot of you probably can relate to. It's...
DOG VS. CAT
VS.
i hate both and would not care if i woke up tomorrow and they were all dead.
dogs because of dog shit. it's not so bad now but back in the 90's before owner were made to clear the shit up it was fucking everywhere. how many times i had had to scrub dog shit out of a new pair of trainers with a toothbrush cos id stood in a big fresh meaty mound of shit!
and cats because im sick of seeing 'funny' cat pictures everywhere. cats are not funny.
get rid off them

I love dogs, but I've never owned one and wouldn't want to unless I moved out of the city and it had lots of room to run around in. On the other hand, we always had cats when I was growing up, and tons of family members also had cats but only my uncle had a dog. We have three cats now and they bring an incredible amount of joy to our lives. People say that they are aloof and grumpy, but I honestly think that if you domesticate them properly they can be almost as affectionate as dogs, so you get best of both worlds as they're independent and affectionate.
Also our two five-year-old male cats poop outside, and cat poop is smaller, less smelly, and composts better than dog poop, so we just let them poop outside and don't have to do shit about it.
I use to be afraid of dogs but ever since I got a little Havenese, I love all dogs. I even volunteer at a local dog shelter now. Dogs are awesome (though cats are cute too)!
I was born loving cats since my mom had quite a few at our house. Never really liked dogs since the ones I knew jumped on me to much heh.
Dogs any day!
Cats always look like that at any moment their going to stab you in the back, don't trust them.
Oh and also this!
As someone who enjoys birds, seeing a cat kill a bird for no apparent reason makes me have absolutely no love for them. (Except for pigeons, can't stand them).
Dogs are loud, wet, smelly and way too much work to take care of. Cats are cute, usually silent, take next to no maintenance besides cleaning a litter box every week or two, and they are so lovable. In the eternal words from Homeward Bound, "Cats rule, dogs drool."
I like both, but if I had to have one as a pet, I'd rather have a dog. Dog's like to hang out, cat's like to do their own shit (which is fine, I guess). What's the point in having a cat if he/she'd rather do it's own thing than hang out with you when compared to a dog? Dogs are like extroverts, while cats are introverts, that's how I see it. It does depend on the cat or dog and probably how young you raised them from. I don't know. I was going to come into this and ask "Why do you make so many damn polls?" But I didn't do that, other than right there. Don't answer it though; doesn't matter.
Cats win. They're quiet, chill and low-maintenance.
Dogs are loud and smell way worse. A relative of mine has like 8 dogs or something bananas and their house smells awful and it's difficult to have a conversation cos the fucking things won't ever shut up.
Nice to see dog people don't outnumber cat people too badly. I'm the only person in my group of friends who prefers cats.
I like both, but I would not want a dog living with me. My family had dogs when I was a kid and that was fine so long as I was not the one responsible for their care and amusement. Dogs are too much like human children. Loud and often needy.
Cats, on the other hand, I like. I would potentially adopt a cat.
I've come to really like cats. A feral cat had her babies under our house about 9 months ago and then got killed by something. I eventually got the babies tamed and have taken care of this since. I love the fact that they're so independent and don't need you to help them do everything. They also (maybe it's an outside cat thing) seem to appreciate the food I give them and love to be petted. My dog on the other hand is spoiled as FUUUUUCK. To her, it's an annoyance to be petted most of the time and she puts up with it only because FOOOD. She whines at me all the time wanting something, and she's spoiled to the point that she'll lay by you on the couch and kick you/snap at you until you rub her belly when she does want petted (which is hilarious until it gets annoying.) She also takes FOREVER to shit outside (I've sat around in cold-ass weather for 30 minutes trying to wait for her to shit many times.) On the flip side, my dog is also very loyal and listens way better than the cats. She's also just fucking HILARIOUS at times when she's not being a shit-head. Of course, I've also had a dog that was cool as shit. You could just let him outside, he would roam around for 30 minutes or so and do his thing (we live in a rural area) and then come back by himself. He was also the funniest little bastard ever. Also of note is that kitties love to kill little animals, and it's sad seeing them carrying around dead mice and moles all the time. :(
So, it's a very hard decision for me. I've had dogs all my life and only recently have I owned cats, so I might be slightly more attached to dogs? I dunno, I absolutely love my kitties and my dogs...
