So todays it. The Hustings are finally here! We will finally decide whos going to run the country for the next few years. But who would run the Giant Bomb House of Commons?

There are already polls, but they are all a week old, and A LOT has changed. I thought it would be cool to do a final GB poll and put it in a seat translator and see what the giant bomb house of commons would look like.

*If you're not from the UK and just want to see the results or just want to stick it to the man and spoil your ballot then please select  "spoiled ballot"

My vote goes for Labour

No they're not. They have representation in the European Parliament for the UK due to the proportional vote system used for European elections. But due to the First past the post system in the House of Commons they will probably not win a seat. Though they have multiple candidates standing for election

So much as it pains me to vote Labour after Brown's term, they've traditionally been solid in my eyes.

I still haven't decided firmly, and may not even do so until I reach the booth. I'm socially liberal, economically centre right (by British standards at least), pro Europe but  think reform is necessary and big on defence. As no party really meets my needs I'm left with trying to decide whether electoral reform and repeal of anti civil liberties legislation is more important than the economy. Decisions, decisions.

I'll be voting labour. While I'm not a huge fan of Gordon Brown, they have the strongest overall group of people. The Lib Dems & Conservatives both have strong leaders and maybe a couple of other strong candidates's, but neither of them have strong enough candidtes to form a decent cabinet. And that is why labour are getting my vote. They have a really great group of cabinet ministers.

Plus my local Labour candidate is the only candidate I have heard anything from. Sure, it was only a leaflet through the door, but I haven't heard anything from the other candidates. As a first time voter I should be a prime target for them, yet they don't seem to be bothered about my vote, so they won't be getting it.

I refuse to support a Tory government. I refuse to go through another term of Labour failure. So I am voting Lib Dems on this one. Still at work so I'll likely get to voting later on today.

Hmm, I would debate that but I feel that if he could draw up the plans for a coalition government with himself, Rob Brydon, Stephen Fry and Dylan Moran, we might have a winning government. Dylan Moran would obviously be the Minister of Culture and Jammy Things, Rob Brydon would be the best candidate for Shadow Secretary and Sarcasm and Stephen Fry would spearhead the campaign for Keeping Things British.

I'm voting Lib Dems. Clegg seems like a smart man and the local Lib Dem councillor is a nice man who done alot of good things for my town like introduce better recycling. They haen't been in power for a long time so I say give them a go and see what they can do. Plus I am sick of Gordon Brown's gormless excuse for a face and his fake smiles for cameras but when he gets in private he's two-faced and mean (the mic in the car fiasco that happened about a week ago), I don't think I could deal with more years of seeing him every few days making everyone feel depressed. Cameron can talk the talk and he's a good show-piece prime minister that you wouldn't feel embarrassed if you saw him talking to leaders in other countries like I do now if I see Brown somewhere, but I don't have trust in the Tories looking back at their history.

Same, I'm sick of Labours benefit cultture and funding sectors of the economy that are not profitable.

Nobody has said SNP yet, good stuff!

I'd never vote Lib Dem, they have basically no policies over agriculture and they would cripple the countries defences and get rid of alot of jibs by scrapping trident. They are idiots.

Labour Party shares a 65% similarity with your beliefs

History: Founded at the start of the 20th century as a political voice for the working class, the Labour Party first won a large majority in the House of Commons and governed for a full term in the years immediately after the Second World War. Under the leadership of Tony Blair, Labour achieved its first General Election victory for 23 years, and its largest ever representation of MPs, in the landslide victory of 1997. Blair led the party to two subsequent General Election victories in a row, making him the only Labour Party leader to ever win three back to back election victories. The Labour Party describes itself as democratic socialist.

View the Labour Party's manifesto here

Leader: Gordon Brown became Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party in June 2007, after the resignation of Tony Blair. Brown had served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007, making him one of the longest serving chancellors in British political history. Brown has been an MP for the constituency of Dunfermline East (renamed Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath in 2005) since 1983. Prior to this he completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh and was briefly a journalist for Scottish television.

@KaosAngel: You're a crazy man, frankly. Or, more seriously, you believe that Labour have good intentions (which in my opinion they do) and haven't seen them balls it up in the last few years (which in my opinion they have). My personal feeling is that Labour has an unpleasant internal struggle coming whether they hold on to power or not, and it's better for the party if that takes place behind closed doors rather than with them in government.

@TomWhitbrook: That is true, its all Gordon Browns fault. The sooner the party gets rid of him the better. Have David Milliband or Alan Johnson as Party Leader.

@KaosAngel: The main issues that the parties keep bringing up in the election are

The economy
Defense (Well specifically Britains nuclear weapons)
Immigration
Constitutional Reform

So just look at your data for all the parties on those issues.

I'm not sure if this test only takes into account the 3 main parties, but this test takes into consideration 5 parties, UKIP and the Greens also included. Greens had the most points, 43, Lib Dems second with 24. Labour and Conservatives had -16 and -18 respectively. Ukip had 11.

The interesting thing about this is all the tactical voting going on. I know plenty of die-hard Labour supporters voting for the Lib Dems because they feel Labour has no hope of winning the election and they don't want to see a Tory government so they voted for the strongest competing party.

On the other hand I know plenty of people voting SNP here in Scotland because they feel a Tory government will be voted into power in Westminster and they hope by voting SNP we'll get a referendum and subsequently gain independence from England.

EDIT - Decided to pin this topic. We had the US Presidential Election stuff pinned when that occurred, no harm doing the same here. We have a sizeable UK based population in the community who no doubt would like to discuss this sort of thing :)

Lib dems for me.

When I read the manifestos last night at 5am on my iPhone, theres seemed like the least offensive. A lot of their things looked very appealing actually. Basically anything that's not conservatives, all of their policies seemed completely ridiculous. "No money for people who won't work"

I fail to see where the line is drawn between people who "wont" work and people who "Can't" beacuse...there's no jobs in this country. Something I'd like to know from Lib Dems however, is the student fees though. Would this apply retroactively? Would they just cancel out recent debt for students? And if not, why not?

@Fallen189: I doubt it very much. They've already had to backpedal on completely cancelling fees for current students and its likely that if they get in that they'll have to backpedal even further because of the need to make cuts to tackle the deficit.

That'd be a bummer, I know as someone who's gonna have 4 years of student fees, it's gonna be a bit nightmarish. Then again, Lib dems support the first 10,000 a person makes is free of income tax is a nice one

From what I understand about that tory policy, is that if you get offered work and you turn it down they'll stop your benefits.

But what I don't understand, is how it differs from the current system. I'm currently looking for work & claiming Jobseekers Allowance. And If I was offered a job and didn't take it, I would lose my JSA. Which seems to be exactly what the tories are proposing. They seem to be proposing something that already exists.

@TomWhitbrook: Hard to say. I mean the SNP got into power in Scotland so I guess support for the party has risen enough that people consider them viable. After this general election we'll have to see if people still consider the party to be viable or not.

As for independence I can't imagine it's a popular topic. At the end of the day it's a big leap that could turn out to be a poor decision and we have no one to turn too for help if we needed it so I imagine most feel secure, if not entirely happy, with staying as a member state of the UK.
