Wow. I wonder if New Moon will be consistent in its success or if will gradually fade away in popularity. I'm not familiar with the series, but it has been reported that the sequel is much more successful in its opening day than the first. Does anyone think this will beat any other records The Dark Knight currently holds? If not this time around, I'm afraid another sequel in the saga will. :(

Claiming the record for the biggest one-day gross, The Twilight Saga: New Moon raked in an estimated $72.7 million on approximately 8,500 screens at 4,024 sites. The Dark Knight was the previous title holder with $67.2 million on around 9,300 screens at 4,366 sites.

Youtube's "ItsJustSomeRandomGuy" made a parody of it in his channel.

This isn't opening weekend. It's first day gross.

Also, New Moon took the record for midnight showing away from Dark Knight as well.

No, it sucks because it is melodramatic over used plot that is boring as hell. It doesn't even have impressive special effects to satiate that side. Stupid story plus bad effects equals boring. In my opinion at least. Some people might like the story. No one can deny that the effects are shit though. I've seen TV shows with better effects then Twilight. Not that it is really supposed to be an effect heavy movie... Whatever. Boring.
