I just wanted to get a general picture of what the fine people at Giant Bomb are into. I'm not interested in fighting or debating here in the least, just a friendly poll. I've limited the selection to the 3 most popular parties for simplicity's sake. Feel free to include parties like Green, or you know.. Communist party into Independent.
What political party do you most align with?

I am an Independent from those three options, though I have recently been pushing Libertarian. I don't have problems with any people in any political party....though socialism is an iffy area for me. I find that the Republicans and Democrats are so similar nowadays that they fight over issues that they don't have far apart opinions on. Ah, politics. They mess you up.
I used to be close to Democrats until after the major progress they achieved (which is none). So I'm just tired of the two parties. Independent is the way to go.
I am registered as a democrat but i find myself disagreeing with what both republican and Democrat are saying.
I disagree more with the republicans because of all their hate speeches and their bullshit claims coming from places like fox news.
I used to support Obama but now there are some things, only a few i still support him in other ways, that i just don't agree with such as how the democrats scraped the public option for health care.
moderate. political parties are stupid and forse people and politicians to changes their ideas just to please the entire party.
" Nazi party. And yeah, there is one. "There is also the Libritarian National Socialist Green party.
I'm a member of the New Royalist party. Why the New Royalists? Well, the Old Royalists kinda creep me out. Specifically when they come to the throne room and yell at me about how I should blow up the sun.
I am independent, and politically i am Libertarian. Lets hear it for personal rights! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo
Hilariously ironic! Free love is fascism!" @MAN_FLANNEL said:

Registered Democrat, but I'm thinking of switching to Independent.

Are you sure it isn't like that all the time?
I have to say, i'm young, i'm internet-savvy, and I side Republican . Not trying to prove you wrong, i'm just one guy, but i'm just throwing that out there. In fact, I agree with you." @PufferFiz said:
Surely there has to be a reason for this. Can it be that the younger folks side left and are consequently more Internet savvy? "" Generally speaking, The internet sides with the left. "

That's how they get elected, once they are in office, they can vote however they want (unless they want to get reelected). Plus, that's why it's generally a good idea to side with a party you agree with.

I'm in Canada, and although we don't have ANY of those exact parties, we do have Liberal, Conservative, etc. (no fancy names here :P) which are theoretically close to being identical.
Given that fact, I would definitely identify myself as siding more with Liberal/Left wing ideals, so if I was in the States, I would likely be a Democrat.
I mostly align with the right-wing, or conservative parties. While I am a registered Republican, I do not really agree with that party.
The best way I can describe my political stance is conservative-Libertarian. Basically being conservative socially and fiscally, but with libertarian leanings.
However I don't align myself with the religious or moral Right. As far as that goes I am probably the most politically incorrect person out there.
People should have the right to do what they please, as long as it doesn't interfere with someone's well-being. Government should also have very limited power, and the people should be the ones who decide what the laws should be. You know, just like the way the system was originally meant to be?
No! Anarchists!!!" @Jeust said:

We were never a direct Democracy. You're thinking of Athens. The founding fathers didn't think it would be smart to be legislation in the hands of mostly illiterate farmers. That's why we have an electoral college, and we always have. But we can switch if you want, since the left won the popular vote every election for the last 16 years." No, Republicans! Up here, Republicans are the ones who want to oust the monarchy! Nevertheless, my crown is far more powerful, and the best part is that only I can use it. Also, I've mastered the arcane art of summoning video game music for fights. * transforms into the Black Knight* Try it. Just try it.
The Constitution was made so the people would have the freedom and the right to stand up and say "NO!". And while we still do, it doesn't really matter anymore because those in power won't listen. The system was original designed so the people could control it and elect who they wanted to represent them. But all I've seen lately is one side pushing their agenda and the other fighting against it with no one ever stopping to look and think about the consequences of their actions. It needs to stop on both accounts or this country we have won't be a country much longer.
Besides not thinking about the consequences of their actions, they also don't have almost any worry about the people that got them elected. They worry above everything else, about themselves." @ryanwho: It was set up the way I said. Ever hear of "for the people, by the people"? That all has changed. Today "The people" don't have an opinion. Just the law makers on capitol hill who think they are doing what will keep them elected do. Everyone does have a chance to vote, but those votes are meaning less and less as the years go on. Free Speech and the power to choose are a thing of the past. I don't care who won the popular vote, I don't care what party. Both are liars and scumbags, both need to change. Politics are just that - Politics. You do what you can to stay in power for as long as you can. If that means lying or pushing your party's agenda then so be it.

And i'll generalize it and say, if this continues on, we won't have a world for much longer.
But no one cares, as no one single handedly can do anything about it.

American citizens are like the disillusioned child who suddenly realized dad isn't Superman after he has a heart attack. And I say that as one of them. I don't entirely understand the problem or the solution. The only problem I see is the people in office seem to have the same problem.
