My username came my e-mail from 8th grade. ~ I like the color (midnight) blue. I like that venom sounds like, 'Viper,' like the car no one remembers. I like the idea of you getting headshotted in Halo, by me, and finding 'blue-venom,' bit bloody-blue on your arm. Kitschy. ~ And I graduated '07. Later I thought about 3V3, because its certainly leet. I don't actually care for leet-speak too much, I just thought it was funny. I think it kind of looks cool, like the type of username someone in Hackers would have, without actually caring to hard what those real names are.
What's the origin of Your Username?
In college I wanted a sign off for emails that didn't sound as formal as "sincerely" so I looked up sincere and came across unequivocal and then I bastardized it putting an -able on the end. It's stuck as my go-to username on everything.
Mine came from a minor meme in the Brony fandom, which in hindsight was a dumb idea but I'm too lazy to do anything about it.
I've been using a character in role playing games since I was about thirteen named Artemis. It started out as a boy but then I got bored of using him. I am terrible at creating characters so I just genderswapped him to being a woman when I was about fourteen and ended up liking her a lot more. I was trying to find a way to feminize it and settled on Artemesia and I've been using that for the past several years.
Always used real life nicknames, got sick of changing them as my nicknames changed, so I decided I wanted something that would always be relevant to me. Used my last name, and combined it with a word that contained "right", and figured at least some sites would have already had Wrighteous, so I got lazy and added my birth year onto it.
I started playing ice hockey back in 1992, also the year the first Mighty Duck movie came out. Voila!
Jade = DC Comics super hero, daughter of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott
GL = Abbreviation of Green Lantern
I just put them together to make JadeGL. I use it on everything pretty much. The reason I originally chose it was because one of the first online forums I visited was toonzone.net and I was a huge Green Lantern comics fan at the time, so I went with that. It has stuck for over 10 years. I also will change it up a bit, maybe with an underscore, but I never use anything else really.
Huh. Can anyone see my previous post or is something weird going on on my end? It said the post went through, and it even shows in my recent activity page, but I don't see it.
I like to change my origin story every time this thread pops up, but I think the reality was that I was young(er) and stupid(er).
Do premium members still have the one free name change? I would like to do that.
It's stupid, on the day I made an account I drew a picture of a hamster robot... I'm terrible at picking names wish I could get a redo.
While watching an episode of Metalocalypse finding out Nathen Explosion's father is named Oscar Explosion. (My actual name is Oscar)
But wasn't Artemis a female god?
Oui. She is. I named him Artemis because it seemed like a good name at the time and it just ended up sticking. I got very attached to the both of them. Still am! It's dumb as hell and I know it is, but Artemis is the closest thing I have or want to have to a daughter, so that closeness leads to me doing stupid things like making my online handle a feminized form of her name.
My name is from when a friend was playing Left 4 Dead on XBL, one of the other players was Mark Wahlberg, and since L4D does that fake movie poster at the beginning, it said 'Mark Wahlberg As *whoever*' and we both thought that was funny/appropriate. And I remembered that when I was trying to think of a good username.
So basically I stole a stranger's gamer tag.
I do a mean impression of an English farmer
A high school teacher with a particularly strange accent pronounced my name Larm
Haha, Larm is a great fake name. Although now I'm trying to figure out what your actual name is. Liam? Lam, short for Lambert? Lars? (You don't have to say what it is, I'm just having fun being confused).
Lol this question again. I used to get asked this all the time, I guess to summarize it with a picture...

One Kill Wonder is the third album from Swedish thrash legends The Haunted. Not their best work but I've always loved the name.
It's almost a single-word oxymoron considering Moogle are about as far from goth as it gets. And I've always liked Moogles ever since I got a poster of a Moogle with a sword with Final Fantasy III (6) on SNES back in the days of yore.

You got it right the first time! It is indeed Liam, but Lambert sounds pretty awesome. Without FLStyle I probably would've done what you did and end up with something stupid like a Metal Gear codename.
the mellotron is a precursor to the modern synth and/or sampler- instead of digital samples or an oscillator to generate sound, it uses tape loops of prerecorded sounds (like strings, vocals, bells, etc). it has an amazing, lo-fi sound and is used in many prominent recordings. thusly:
MELLOTRON (the intro flutes)
RULES. (the symphonic sounds)
My last name is Hasenjaeger, which is Bunny Hunter in German. In college the German kid "kindly" pointed this out and the nickname stuck and i quite like it now
Xbox live's name suggester. In the grand tradition of TimeMuffin (though mine is older than that) I left it up to the professionals at microsoft, or you know, the script they wrote to pull one word from their list of adjectives and one from their list of nouns and mash them together.
The runner up suggestion of that day was AbhorrentNose.

Feminise it? Isn't Artemis a girls name already?
My name on Gamespot was TheCritic9392 because I was 13 and thought reviewing things for a living was a dream job. After the mass exodus following Gerstmann-Gate I was 16 and changed it to Everyones_A_Critic because it's true.
I was making a character for Star Wars Galaxies and I thought up this name. Really liked it so I started using it just about everywhere. Not sure what made me put Rio as a first name and Starwind came from me loving Outlaw Star.

No, not dumb at all! For one thing, you're talking to someone who named themselves after a hot plate from their high school biology class because he thought magnestir sounded cool, so I know dumb. For another, I used that name for a character in one of the first of my many terrible attempts at writing stories and I know how attached you can become to them. A different sort of character in my case, but I still feel I know where you're coming from.
edit: ooh... Err... Forget all that what I meant to say is I'm a sentient hot plate with a fondness for video games!
Heh. A little late...
I was like 14 or 15 and after spending a good 20-30 min of trying to come up with some combination of a colour and a dragon only to realize they had all been taken I was stumped. I gave up and decided to think it over as I knew once I started using the name I would probably always have it since it was my first online name. So I quit and closed my browser and then I saw the wallpaper I had at the time and the name came to me. I was really into Stronghold: Crusader at the time and it was the photo over there --->. I typed in Crusader and it was taken, and the generator suggested crusader 86 since 86 was the year I was born. I was going to go with it, but just to make sure I never ran into someone that had the same name and date of birth I wanted to change it some how and in a way I could remember. So I just cut each number in half and 86 became 8463. Been using it ever since. Outside of an alt name I made for porn sites once I realized that if you Google a username you can find some scary stuff.
I have actually really wanted to change it as of late as I associate the name with me as a kid and I feel like it's time to grow up and get a different one. Sadly I have the name in too many places as too many accounts, and too few services offer a way to change accounts/usernames that it would just become a confusing nightmare at some point.
