Why is this news? Courtney Love is crazy. Whoa, hold on, really? And why the hell is Kurt Cobain famous? Yeah, he made a few songs and produced two actual studio albums. Big shit. Dave was there too going on to form the Foo Fighters who have been a band now for fifteen years. Way more staying power and finished music from Dave and his follow up band. Kurt is a musical foot note at best. Maybe, if I close my eyes this whole thing will just go away.

Yeah, it's weird and seems very awkward to see Johnny Cash or Kurt Cobain performing songs that were so different than their own material or style.  Courtney Love probably signed off to use Kurt in GH5 but I bet she didn't take time to explore what that would look like in detail.

I think she didn't know what she signed, but being strung out is no excuse for not reading a fucking contract.

Though I agree with her, she is definately a fruit cake of the highest order.  She probably signed it while she was high.

Now I don't want to be cruel here, this is a wife who is grieving over the use of her deceased husband as part of what is partly a tool to make money. I'm not sure how I, myself feel about the use of Cobain's image here and I could go off onto a whole rant about that but I'll spare you the wall of text. I think this was handled incredibly badly by Love who seems to have made somewhat of a legal mistake somewhere along the line, but then instead of trying to put all her efforts into giving the public a structured representation of the situation and handling things in a way that could be taken seriously, she releases this muddle of extremely poorly written statements. These statements do nothing to help her be taken seriously and definitely won't make most people worry about any kind of misuse of Cobain's image. For once I don't think the major corporation is in the wrong here, they actually went to Cobain's widow for permission to use his likeness and only did so once they got the go-ahead from her. I think if anything this is a lesson that you should always read what you sign and try to present yourself properly if you are dealing with any kind of major company.
