Good lord man. Does it bother anyone else that valve can put out 2 left 4 dead games in between episode 2 and 3.
I mean give us a screen shot or somethin. A simple yes thats still a game will do at this point right. just wondering if
anyone else notice/is bothered by it.
Half-Life 2: Episode Three
Game » consists of 2 releases.
The cancelled, infamously long-delayed final chapter of the episodic Half-Life 2 saga.
No episode 3 @ e3
" Left 4 Dead is developed by a different team within valve, so it's not that L4D 2 is detracting from HL3:ep3's development time. And it doesn't surprise me that episode 3 wasn't at E3, Valve are notorious for taking their time over their games. "
" @mracoon: Well they have already said, that there has been different teams working on each episode, so that the EP1 team ware making EP3 while EP2 was in development. Plus Turtle Rock made L4D, and probably (I'm not sure) are working on L4D2. "
" L4D2 bundled with Ep.3 mebbe? "
No way.
I was a bit disappointed by that, yeah, especially since it seems way too soon to be bringing out a second L4D. I still haven't bought the first one, for crissakes. Hopefully the delay does mean we will get a superior product, but these days, not even Valve can be presumed innocent without proof. When we hear about Episode 3 though, I hope they'll have something about Portal 2 as well. Or, even better, a new IP.
I just hope the writers can get out of the corner they have written themselves into, especially since Gordon is eternally mute. Seriously, If they actually make Alyx fall in love with a mute guy who is constantly wearing a HEV suit, I will laugh my ass off. My suspension of disbelief only goes so far.
Yeah, I thought they would give us something, instead of Left 4 Dead 2, not that I'm complaining, just my prediction list included Episode 3, not L4D2
Episode 3 is now becoming the duke nukem forever of valve lol. It will never come out. They are just going to release concept art every year and thats it.
With every episode of half life valve makes massive upgrades to their tech and even when the game is technically 'finished' they being what they are will polish it for countless months prior to release. If you listen to the commentary of Ep2 you'll hear them say how much the game changed in development, the entire structure of the story was different at one stage. Their is also a strong chance that Episode 3 may become 'Half Life 3' and thus take a much longer time to develop.
Considering that I have played HL2, ep1 and ep2 more times over than any other single player games ever I'd say they can take as long making the next one as they'd like. It was something like 3 or 4 years between HL2 and Ep1 and even longer between Hl1 and Hl2. People need to just have patience. Valve will release it when its ready, most likely with Portal 2 and maybe another game.

" It bothers just about the whole Steam community.DAMN IT! GIVE US MOAR HALF LIFE! D: "

I'm just really hoping that ep3 is going to represent a huge leap forward in the technology or, even better, maybe ep3 will have evolved fully into Half Life 3.
These are really the only two acceptable excuses in my book. Valve adopted the whole "episodic gameplay" scheme in order to more quickly produce half life games. I know they're not sitting on their hands or anything, but it's just so frustrating.
I will say though, I can understand L4D2 coming out before ep3. Left 4 Dead doesn't have the same depth of story nor the vast cast of bad guys that the half life series has.
