The Topic says it all would you play a game not as Commander Shepard buy as another character in a lesser role as a part of Citadel Security, set during the first game or something of that effect...like Halo 3: ODST or maybe a character in the terminus system....
Mass Effect
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Nov 20, 2007
Humanity is still a newcomer on the futuristic galactic stage, and it's up to the charismatic Commander Shepard to investigate the actions of a rogue agent while under threat from a dangerous synthetic race known as the Geth.
Would you buy it? Mass Effect: C-Sec
I thought this was about you playing Mass Effect and having to get birth a baby by cutting open a stomach.
Now I have another question for you all, would you be more inclined to play the game if Bioware somehow made this Mass Effect side story DLC for ME2, like using the assets from the main game and made a extra adventure. While Shepard is assembling his/her squad of roughnecks, your C-sec character is fighting corruption and all the other stuff that we all imagines happens on the citadel.
Think about now....not a 60$ side story game but like a 15$ Add-on....
Hell Yea!!! It be even cooler if you can choose what species you are (Of course im picking human thought).
A retired Volus C-Sec officer returns to the scene after a group of gangsters led by his long lost evil brother return to wreck havok. Now, join Vikthar, as he takes up his assault rifle once more, to save the Citadel from petty criminals.
Maybe, but I doubt such a game would be made by Bioware and their craftsmanship is what draws me to their games. Like Call of Duty: World at War, I'm not too interested in the in side stories not developed by the creators. Are you familiar with Half-Life: Opposing Force? It was a game set in the Half-Life universe that took place as the events of Half-Life proper were going on elsewhere. It was an expansion developed by Gearbox and not Valve. While, I won't speak to the quality of the game, I do know that I personally wasn't interested in it. I wanted to play as Gordon Freeman as written by Valve, not a random soldier from some other studio.
Maybe someday when Bioware makes the Mass Effect MMO, I can see it. But, under the current market I'm not really interested in playing some unknown character who Shepard talked to in passing before going off and saving the universe.
However, after saying all that, I do think I would accept a spin-off that featured any of the characters who aren't available as teammates in Mass Effect 2. I know that Tali is a member of the new team, but beyond that I don't know what happens to those who survived. Actually, that would be tricky come to think of it considering the potential fates of at least 3 characters from the first game.
" I'd love to see Bioware try some games with a more contained, personal storyline... but I don't think it's ever going to happen. "I would like to see that too.
It'd be pretty cool to see a more FPS approach to Mass Effect and making it about C-Sec would be awesome.
Nah, maybe if it was a completely new environment with new characters. We've already seen a lot of C-sec and the Citadel in ME and we're bound to see even more in ME2.
I also reckon it would feel incredibly underwhelming when compared to the main storyline which is about, ye know, saving the entire galaxy from a giant fleet of genocidal space robots with the help of a team of the finest warriors in the galaxy!
Though I must say, the prequel novels were all very exciting and epic, but somehow managed to tell very personal stories with characters that you really cared about. So I have no doubt that the Bioware writers could pull it off.
" Nah, maybe if it was a completely new environment with new characters. We've already seen a lot of C-sec and the Citadel in ME and we're bound to see even more in ME2. "I don't think the Citadel is in ME2 much, if at all. Plus we only saw one very small part of it, I think they could easily make a game that was wholey centered around it.
But I definitely think it'd work best as an ODST style expansion, rather than a complete full game.
" Not sure. Life on the citadel seems kinda boring. I guess you can deal with things like drugs and crime (maybe even go undercover to find out about the Shadow Broker)... but all that is kinda dwarfed by the main game where you are saving the freaking universe. "The presidium, sure, but it'd be a fair bet to say that the wards have a fair share of seediness and crime as any major city does.
