But where's Lui Kang, they can't leave him out can they?
I don't know it feels weird he's taking a backseat to Scorpion I fully thought it was Lui Kang Jax was talking to.

One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).
What Is This Mortal Kombat Video?
More importantly, there's not a movie studio in the world that could have kept a big production like this secret, if it's so far enough along to have a 7 minute trailer.
I don't care if this is a movie or a game, I literally just shit myself. This is exactly what the franchise needs. i can't wait until E3.
apparently it is for the movie...
" Definitely not a movie. They've been talking about the new game for some time now, and more recently been teasing about a big E3 reveal.Agreed. There's no way it's a movie. Who'd want it to be anyways? That was a fun/cool live-action sequence for a Mortal Kombat reboot, but it was way too corny to make a decent movie.

I liked Quan Chi, though never played him because of his moves (MK4 on N64). He looks very similar to kratos
I hear everyone saying that most likely this will be a game and i believe it, just think it already sounds and looks like an awesome movie. Because the big down side of it being a game is it has my interest but how the game will play and look will make or break my excitement for it.
i completely flipped out over this video.
as much as i love how the lore was shaping up post mk4, this seems like an awesome way to reboot the series. i can't wait to see what comes up next week.
" I don't think this is for a game. That looks like a pretty well made movie to me. Who has been sneakily working on a Mortal Kombat movie? "No one has been sneakily working on an MK movie. Movies are TOO easy to find out about.
This is just a product of what happens when Warner Bros. is your publisher now. You get access to some much stronger film-making talent than almost anyone else.
" Definitely not a movie. They've been talking about the new game for some time now, and more recently been teasing about a big E3 reveal. My thoughts as well. I love the direction they're taking, too. Reviving one of my favorite franchises took something like this, so I'm glad to see them moving in this direction.

There was no way that was "fan-made" it had freaking Seven-of-Nine. I also wanted that to continue and reboot the movies.
I hope the mystical/magical side of MK isn't totally gone.
I mean if the Raiden gets the gritty/realistic treatment like everyone else in the video, then the game/movie is gonna have to be really good to make up for it.
But Mortal Kombat meets Se7en vibe definatly seems very cool.
Also Shang Tsung back as the main villian.
It's too different since I grew up with mortal kombat games and movies. It's way too different for me to accept right now.
dude that was fucking awesome!!
at first I was like realistic mortal kombat, no thank you. Then I watched the whole thing and thought it was actually pretty clever
As a long-time MK fan, I'll offer my comments. For many years, there have always been rumors of a new MK film. It's taken years for anything to happen, but this could definitely be it. I think this is way too deep to be a teaser trailer for the next game, though I expect the new MK game will go in a darker direction, much like this.
My biggest issue with the video is Baraka. I'm not enjoying his new appearance, I think the dreadlocks are dumb, and I don't like the face tattoos, however, if they're giving the series a more realistic approach and avoiding things like Outworld, I guess some big changes were necessary. I like how Reptile and Baraka were at the forefront of the murders, considering they're two of my favorites. I love the changes they made to Reptile. Totally awesome. I was thinking it was their own twisted version of Quan Chi, but making it Reptile is even better.
I'm sure most of us thought that was Kano sitting across from Jax, and that they would reveal his red eye at some point. Going with Scorpion as the lead character is an interesting idea, and he's generally considered the franchise favorite anyway. Also, I love that image of Sub-Zero. It looks so disturbing and twisted. This is a good direction. While I'm not totally sold on the Dark Knight style more-realistic approach, I definitely love the darker tone.
