Persona 5
Game » consists of 17 releases. Released Sep 15, 2016
The sixth main iteration in the long-running Persona series, Persona 5 follows a group of high school students (and a cat) who moonlight as the Phantom Thieves, out to reform society one rotten adult at a time.
Preparing For Persona 5?
" I hope they make it multi-platform so we 360 owners can play it. Loved Persona 3 and 4 on PS2, but I don't have a PS3 and I don't plan on buying one until it drops below €200. "I suspect that if it is not on the PS2 (which I could see them doing), it will be multiplatform. I doubt the game will push the systems far at all, but that's not why we play Persona games. Great Stories, great characters, great gameplay! WOOT!
Like Jeff says, P4 was great because of the characters. Naturally, P5 can't simply copy-paste them, no matter how much the GB community would like it. However, I am fairly positive that P4's characters were loved by a greater audience, by percentage, than P3's. Therefore, Atlus would be foolish not to incorporate the characters somewhat.
In P4, one of the P3 characters made a brief cameo - fan service, it was. For reasons I will bring up at a later date, it is my opinion that the P4 characters should be featured prominently (at least secondarily) as sort of mentors for the new group, or at least show up on a regular basis (maybe even be the antagonists?).

Somehow i feel that if characters are going to play a prominent role in a next Persona game, it would be the ones from P3, not P4. The story of P4 is essentially done and over with, whereas P3 still has somewhere to go. There's also the characters from the anime, which i never finished watching, so i'm not sure what hapens. That said however, they seem to be set in the same universe, so we may see a mashup of characters from both games.
" @btman said:He's entitled to think the game is shitty but the ER is great." @Chuggsy said:You're dumb. "" @Lambert said:they loved because of how shitty it was... don't you remember them talking about quiting multiple times? "" Yes. Endurance run 2.0. Can't wait! Only reason I like this game is because of the endurance run. I could never play such a shitty game series like persona. "This post made me do a double take. Everybody is entitled to their opinions, but you realize Jeff and Vinny both loved it, and that's the reason they got so into the ER so much. You're the first person I've heard on this site who called this series shitty. I didn't know somebody could watch the endurance run and not love the game by the end of it. That's what made the ER so great for me at least, I was addicted to the game as well as the commentary. "
The problem with Persona 4 is that it is a jRPG and even though it is a rather exceptional one it is still mired in jRPG trappings and quite frankly they're not very good!
The Endurance Run made it fun because part of it was picking apart the cutscenes, part of it was them playing a game and dealing with it's bullshit so you don't have to, and part of it was slowly but surely growing attached to the characters.
Not a lot of the fun of the Endurance Run was stuff the actual GAME did, it was mostly Jeff and Vinny bein' funny and sayin' funny things. There were maybe four or five bits in Persona 4 that made me laugh intentionally.
With the Endurace Run and my own copy, I've run through Persona 4 twice
and I still think from time to time. "I wonder how Chie's doing!"
or "What's Kanji up to, I should check.. oh wait." it's over, Persona 4 is over.
I don't think a day passes though where I don't find myself daydreaming
about the cast, what they're up to and how they turned out fake-life.
Hell I even made Chie and Teddy in Second Life, how lame is that!
Or creepy.. I.. anyway, Persona 5 has some big fancy shoes to fill.
" @btman said:Well said." @Chuggsy said:You're dumb. "" @Lambert said:they loved because of how shitty it was... don't you remember them talking about quiting multiple times? "" Yes. Persona 3 had a great cast of lovable characters as well, I'm sure an eventual Persona 5 would follow suit.
My fantasy of what Persona 5 could be will probably always be more awesome then the game itself will be.
Regardless, I'm hoping the new summoning gimmick will involve transformation belts and the personas being big robutts. I also hope you run into Charlie, start talking about girlfriends and a list pops up as he answers who his girlfriend was. Whoever you pick also make a breif cameo.
Though the most awesome way I could personally think this could turn out was that you played a new character, but eventually started meeting the characters from P3 and P4. Also Nanako transfers into your school and is one of the main party members.
The only way this news could be better if it was a direct sequel to 4, going back to the town years later
" @animateria said:only if they somehow tie together 3 and 4 and 5 wraps it all up" @Landon said:YES! "" They should call it Per5ona "P3R50N4! "
" @RockmanBionics said:Well 3 and 4 already had connections. Though I guess the events in 3 were a bit more grand. 4's story happens after the main character from 3 does something to save the world. A lot more was at stake." @animateria said:only if they somehow tie together 3 and 4 and 5 wraps it all up "" @Landon said:YES! "" They should call it Per5ona "P3R50N4! "
they loved because of how shitty it was... don't you remember them talking about quiting multiple times? "
That is the dumbest thing I've read in a while.
Why don't you take a look at this:

" I feel like I can safely say that Persona 4 is one of the best RPGs I've ever "played"
Oh yeah, Jeff definitely thinks it's shitty.
" If Jeff and Vinny don't do an endurance run of Persona 5, I will be very disappointed. Don't disappoint me Jeff and Vinny! "I would venture a guess and say that the ER was one of, if not their most, successful features on GB. I'm sure the guys are at least considering it, although it is a significant time investment on their part.
Ah, the rumor mill. A few tantalizing hints of effing radness.
But hell. It's P5 (or at least a glimpse (not even that) of it).
So.
EFFING RAD!
Well, everything about Persona 3 as far as character and story appealed to me more than those aspects in Persona 4, but to each it's own. I'm not going to argue that topic again here, but I will say that I look forward to the new characters Atlus will be creating for Persona 5. I want to get to know a brand new team of shadow-fighters, each with their own quirks and qualities. I hope the developers will include cameos from a few of the P3 & P4 characters in addition to our favorite persona.
Having heard this latest bit of news yesterday, I really don't expect to see any more on the topic until 2011...well, maybe TGS this fall but if that happens, I doubt it will be anything more than a few concept screens.
I look to a new cast that I can fall in love with all over again. Keep the Persona 4 characters in Persona 4 and don't try to do anything else with them. Remember how much everyone loved The Answer? Yeah...
" There's also the characters from the anime, which i never finished watching, so i'm not sure what hapens. "I believe Atlus has said they consider that non-canon.
"For reasons I will bring up at a later date, it is my opinion that the P4 characters should be featured prominently (at least secondarily) as sort of mentors for the new group, or at least show up on a regular basis (maybe even be the antagonists?)."
Simple, the new group of Persona users need to play a mini-game where they're trying to escape from Dojima and Chie arresting them before getting into their dungeons. If they lose, you lose a member who's been galactic punted out of your party.
And maybe after this game they can go all Nippon Ichi on us and make "P3r5on4" which has the best characters from these three games and will horribly disappoint.
OMG, So excited! I loved every Persona game with Persona 4 being the best. I can't wait for the next endurance run for Persona 5! :D
PS: You are gonna do an endurance run for Persona 5, right? right?
I played Persona 4 first when it came out and fell in love with it. The characters were almost all likable and sure made some great progression becoming closer and closer friends during the course of the game. When I then decided to try out its predecessor I was skeptical to say the least, but in the end I had to admit that, hands down, P3 (FES I should mention) was even better. The story had a bigger impact on me, it certainly had a larger scale and the ending ... just wow - brilliant in every aspect.
P3 and P4 rank up there with my favorite FF's in terms of JRPGs.
It'll be hard to top that, that's for sure.
I'm kinda worried of the whole Next-Gen thing. The dated yet somehow fitting graphics were kind of an appeal of the earlier games.
" I still think about Persona 4 more than I care to admit, and the notion of another game is tearing me apart. I'm obviously interested in a new Persona game. But I'm also very attached to the cast of Persona 4" this was how i felt about persona 3. then after i watched the persona 4 endurance run, I feel attached to those characters too, so i'm optimistic, or maybe just hopeful, that P5 will not disappoint
I think it should be a game where you play as Jack/Black Frost and the game itself is a journey through his history, ho. Every chapter would be a team up with different protagonists throughout the entire Megaten franchise, ho. Also, there will be an online co-op mode where the second player gets to be Ghoul, ho.

Watch the 50th episode behind the scenes Vinny says "I'm still amazed we're going, to be honest. I thought it'd be fun for the first couple episodes then the very last episode." When asked about the ER Jeff said "I thought it'd be one of those things that last for about 2 weeks or goes all the way to the end. It's lasted more then 2 weeks and thats kinda scaring me now." Later Vinny says sarcastically "Who knew we'd make it this far?" Later Vinny says when talking about Drew doing the episodes "Hey Drew, look at this thing we do. We play Persona every day, and i don't wanna do it anymore." so fuck you, fuck you, and.... fuck you
...
I said this on another site, but why don't they take advantage of Blu-ray technology (assuming that Persona is finally going to be made for the PS3) and put in another mission where your crew meets up with the old crew (the P4 crew in this case) like they did in P4 (where you visited 3). That'd be cool, I think.
My, the way you filter out any statements they make that don't coexist with you opinion is simply remarkable. They have said so many times that they love the game on podcasts, blogs and in the ER itself, they're criticism for the game are largely minor stuff like streamlining the UI .
I also like how you ignored Jeff saying in that very same video ''This was the only way Vinny and I were going to get to see this game we kinda wanted to see"'
The '' I don 't wanna do this anymore'' was a remark towards Vinny editing the first couple of videos of P4, Ryan made a remark about when Drew started to do the editing of the ER and Vinny said it was when drew came on board. So hurray for pulling that line completely out of context!
But no, you're totally right they made some throwaway comments that weren't even meant to be taken seriously about ''enduring'' the game. That's totally proof that they didn't like P4
wut?
EDIT:
so fuck you, fuck you, and.... fuck you
Wow. How mature *insert rolleyes*
I guess your inability to detect sarcasm isn't the only thing wrong with you.
