Do some accounts not realise that exchange rates exist and that $250 is not the same as €250.

The Vita is a steal at $249.99. Considering the psp launched at $249.99 six years ago and didn't offer nearly as much as this system does.....

This also makes Nintendo's greed suddenly transparent....

I'd really like to hear from a sony person why the EU has to pay more than 100 dollars more for a PSvita than the US does.

Sony knocked this conference out of the ballpark. Jack put forth a truly honest apology to those that were affected by the PSN outage, a lot of solid software for the PS3 was shown off, and the information on the Vita was down right jaw dropping. All while eliminating all talk about the PS2 and PSP and they cut back on the amount of montages for filler that they leaned on the past couple years.

Good show Sony.

PS Vita already has a back catalog of PSP games to support its roll out. Wish they would also release a tablet version in the future.

Awesome price, too bad I would only want Uncharted. I feel like its the psp all over again, awesome hardware with lackluster software. I'll hold out awhile before considering a purchase.

I'm surprised this thing will be selling for as cheap as it is. I was fully expecting at least a $299 ticket on this thing.

The important point is it's matching the price of the 3DS which didn't seem like something they would accomplish. The UK is getting fucked with that price though. It's around $100 more there, right?

Maybe it's just me but I think the price point may be a little high.  I think $199.99 for Wifi and $249.99 for 3G would have been much better. It will most likely get to that price point at sometime but I think $300 may be too much. 

perfect price to battle the 3ds and the upcoming cell phones.

That price is probably at the low end of what I would have expected. Considering I paid 600 for my HTC HD7, it doesn't seem so bad. ;)

I really dont ever get the PSP hate and bashing. It sold like 70 million units worldwide! Is it as good as the DS in sales numbers? Heck no. But whats wrong with second? Is Pepsi giving up or considered poor or crappy since Coke is number 1 in world wide sales? No, I would love to have the money and sales Pepsi has. And yet with Coke and Pepsi dominating other little brands like TAB still make their soda. Any money is good money. 70 million units is more than the Gamecube sold, why would Sony not want to keep tapping that market? It might not be a huge market, but its still a market.

Lame name, meh price.

Decent price, well worth more than what the 3DS has to offer IMO.

Wifi version - 249€

3G version - 299€

Yup that's right, obviously the € - $ exchange rate is 1:1, so europeans just have to pay $440 for the 3G version.....

Guess what sony? Even if i would have been interested in that device i wouldn't have bought it simply because i don't like beeing ripped off like that. Paying nearly 50% more for the same? nothankyou.jpg

Content is king, and I will wait to see what else comes out for the Vita...

Speaking of the name I am not calling it the PSV, or Playstation Vita. Just call it Vita. Quick, simple, and to the point. No need to put a PS, or PlayStation in front of it to understand what you mean when speaking in gaming terms.

The price is amazing for all we get. It offers way more than the DS with exception of 3D. Honestly, I love my DSi but the 3DS is not impressive compared to this. Just a strong DS with a neat screen. Nintendo has to either rock it with content, or drop the price. If Sony comes strong with the content at launch this seriously may be a handheld fight. One Nintendo never had to truly face.

Plus, there is one factor that Sony/Nintendo never wants to mention. iPhone/Android phone games. Love them, or hate them they have a serious impact on the market. The handheld war has never seen so much flux honestly, and that is a good thing. When this happens the only true winner is the consumer.

Gotta love conversion rates from dollars to euros. I'll stick to my PS3 and watch from afar with interest to see whether or not the folly of the PSP is repeated.

It might have been amazing if Vita opened its platform for Android developers.

So here we are, for some reason the video game populance that once hated Sony from about 2006-2011 are out in force. Sony had the best prese conference of the show, slamming MS whose show was lacking in every sense of the term. Good going Sony!! But fuck AT&T. Why not Verizon, the nations largest 3G carrier? That was a bummer, and the audience responded appropriately.

I wanted a PS Vita but with AT&T being the service provider, I want nothing to do with it now.

I needed two reasons to buy a Vita, and they are 1. Uncharted and 2. 249 price point. I would prefer a $199 price point, but I'm okay with $249.

I still think the touch panel on the backside is dumb, but I like how it was incorporated into the ModNation track editor. In a perfect world, they would omit this feature to give me that lower price entry.

Sony, you tricky sons-a-bitches. $250 has me really tempted.

Instead of PSV, they should make it PS> or something like that. 

$249.99 is not a bad price. I was expecting $299.99 for the Wi-Fi only model.
