I haven't played Pokémon since red/blue, and all this talk about Black/White made me want to try one of the ones that have come out since then as I do have the systems.
All I know is they added in Poke'boning at one point, so I imagine they probably have Poke'marriage by now.
So tl;dr what Pokémon games do you think were the most fun?
Pokémon
The Pokémon franchise has spawned numerous titles and spin-offs, spanning several generations of games and has an animated series that spans many seasons.
So I'm thinking of playing some Pokey Mans
Just go with Heart Gold or Soul Silver. They have everything from the previous games (except for beauty contests and poffin berries, which were bullshit anyways) and are the longest.

I got the same itch a little while back. When I realized that all the games are pretty much the same, but all the pokemon after the first 151 are pretty dumb, I went out and picked up Pokemon FireRed. It's the Gameboy Advance remake of the original Pokemon Red. I recommend this.
I still think the first two (redblue/goldsilver) were the best so I suppose their remakes should be fun enough.
I did enjoy Pokemon Emerald a while back tho.
I still really enjoy playing through the games proper, the endgame however gets too insane for me.
When talk of IV training and move inheritance comes into focus that's when I officially check out. I tried to complete the Pokedex with Platinum but I only got about 75% complete, it's a tall order.
The Gold/Silver remakes is as good a place as any to start, added bonus of the Pokewalker too!
Yeah just like everyone else said, Heart Gold and Soul Silver are the way to go. However, if you are one of those crouchy types who can't count past 151, then Fire Red or Leaf Green on the GBA are pretty damn good too.
Don't I tried to recapture my Pokey Manz glory days recently with Platinum and I realized that I think I only had the patience to catch them all because I was on Adderall and had friends to battle with and trade with at school. There is nothing sadder then a grown ass man playing Pokemon in public.
I'd say either play HeartGold/SoulSilver or wait for the special version of Black/White (Gray).
Either will have you set for another ten years.

I could see it being a useful tool. "Hey man don't trade with that dude. Last time I did I got a pikachu that humps the shit out of everything"" @wolf_blitzer85 said:

get heartgold/soulsilver they are the best game of the series.
also seems dumb that those who bought these games can't use the pokewalker for black/white
" get heartgold/soulsilver they are the best game of the series. also seems dumb that those who bought these games can't use the pokewalker for black/white "The Pokewalker has been replaced with a far more robust website version.. though of course you can't carry that around everywhere.
Anyway, I would recommend just waiting for Black and White, they'll be the newest games and are designed more for new comers or people who've been away from the series for a while.
Diamond and Pearl introduced too much crap and Heart Gold & Soul Silver were somewhat boring for being pretty much identical to the originals and just needless remakes.

" @slightconfuse said:I'd say this to, unless your after it for the nostalgia value, in which case Heart Gold/Soul Silver as it's obviously a remake and Black and White have no old Pokémon in until you've finished the story." get heartgold/soulsilver they are the best game of the series. also seems dumb that those who bought these games can't use the pokewalker for black/white "I would recommend just waiting for Black and White, they'll be the newest games and are designed more for new comers or people who've been away from the series for a while. I need some help
I have deiced to play Pokemon games again(My last game was Pokemon Ruby) but i do not know what game to buy should i buy Pokemon Platinum or Pokemon White(So i can catch Zekrom) or should i wait for Pokemon White 2
Don't do it. I've tried many times, and pretty much every game sucks since the original. I accept that people like the second generation, but other than that, fuck the pokemon games.
I've never been the biggest fan of pokemon. Some of them are alright, but most of them are kinda boring to me.
If you're in the mood for a game similar to it though, I'd highly recommend Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2. Much more of an RPG with the same kind of make your own team gameplay mixed with a standard DQ turn-based system.
Also, if you just want to raise cool monsters then try out one of the Monster Rancher games. 1 and 2 are my personal favorites, but 3 4 and Evo all offer their own unique things. Check out some footage to see if any spark your interest.
@ShrimpDino: I would recommend White over Platinum. I didn't like Generation 4 as much as Generation 5 and in Gen 5 it is all new pokemon, no pokemon from previous generations so it was fun learning things all over again as if it was your first time playing a pokemon game. I don't know if you should wait for Black/White 2 but it seems like more of the same from the original Black or White so if you want a pokemon game now get White, if you can wait then get White 2.
@ShrimpDino: I believe you can transfer your save to black/white 2 and depending on how far you got in it there are different sidequests to play. Besides, Black and White are essentially reboots (or at least the start of a "Phase 2" of pokemon) and feature the best new additions to pokemon since gold/silver.
