Bullet Point Review: Prince of Persia (XB360)

    What I liked:

Graphics - I'm not gonna lie to you, I love cell shaded graphics in a game. Furthermore I love the graphics here in PoP. Their simply stunning.

Humor - You know how in some games the producers try and force humor and it falls flat on it's face? Thankfully that's not the case here. True, you're not gonna fall off your couch while playing PoP, but the humor between the Prince and Eleka (your female companion) is handled nicely.

Music - The music in PoP feels like it came straight from a movie. It's really good.

Achievements - Question. Do you like Achievements in XB360 games? Good, because PoP throws them at you left, right and center. And most of them are pretty easy to get.

Direction - This is one of those games that you could get lost in really easily. I not talking about sitting down for 20mins and the next thing you know 3 hours have gone by. I talking about lost as in where the hell do I go next? Thankfully Ubisoft gave Eleka the ability to act as a walkingdirectional arrow. Simply press the Y button and a little white orb floats off in the direction you should be going. Very helpful.

Difficulty - I've have heard that some people say that PoP is too easy a game. True it is kinda easy, you can never die, but does every game need to kick your ass for hours on end? No. It's okay for developers to make easy games too.

Bosses - For the most part the enemies in PoP are all pretty much the same...which makes the fight with the end boss so good. I love the perspective from which that fight takes place.

Eleka - Yeah she's hot. But more importantly she's a good character in the game and she doesn't come off as some useless eye candy.

    What I didn't like:

Camera  - For the most part in PoP the camera work is really well done, but there are times when I was playing that I wish the camera would move just a little bit more so I could see what was above or below me.

Same-y - When I first put in PoP I was blown away with the game. But as the hours past the game began to feel that same after a while. Same bosses over and over again. Same combat, same way to move around the environments, same objectives. etc. Which I guess is fine, but it needed to end sooner than it did to avoid that feeling of deja vu .

Summary - I'll admit it, I had alot of fun with PoP. It's fun to run around. The sights are simply breath-taking to behold and there's good chemistry between the 2 major characters. But after a while PoP just begins to feel the same. Ubisoft should have cut it back by a few hours/objectives in order for it to avoid falling into a rut.

    Overall I give Prince of Persia (XB360) a 4 out of 5.

This game has many intangibles that make it special. 0

Prince of Persia : …you know how it’s become trendy in Hollywood to “reboot” franchises, throw away all the backstory from the previous (and usually bad) sequels and start fresh? Batman did it, James Bond did it, Star Trek is going to do it, The Incredible Hulk did it after only one bad movie, and now we have a video game in Prince of Persia, which ignores the Sands of Time trilogy or all of the quick death traps of the original game and starts anew. Oh, it’s an action platformer by the way.Stor...

Flaws are to be overlooked in order to enjoy Prince of Persia 0

With Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Jordan Mechner's highly successful and revolutionary game series was reborn, and people liked it. Even if the stylistic changes in the sequel were not appreciated by everyone, the Sands of Time trilogy was still a resounding success. With this new Prince of Persia, the series receives its second reboot in a very short period of time, which is signified by its lack of a subtitle. The game has one big thing in common with its predecessors: the focus on ext...
