I'm just hoping that Double Fine can use this extra capital to allow players to switch from pixelated graphics to "modern" graphics and vice versa.

@algertman: Game devs don't just make games with money out of their own pockets. They do not possess coffers full of gold. They pitch games to publishers who then give them funding (money) to make said games. Double Fine is bypassing the middleman (publishers) to go directly to the consumers for funding. So in essence, they are pitching the game to us for funding.
