Anyone remember the hoopla around the time of the launch of the 3DS about how doctors warned against possible ill effects for very young children? That's obviously who the new model is designed for. The lack of a hinge helps durability, and you wouldn't let kids that small take something that expensive to the park, so portability is not that big of a deal. The repositioned controls make the device less top-heavy, which is also easier for weaker hands.

Don't rage about the design, it's not for you anyway.

Using Chrome on OS X, I get no sound in some videos when using the HTML5 player. For example the latest ILM (http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/i-love-mondays-06-24-2013/2300-7633/) plays without sound, while the Deadpool QL (http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quick-look-deadpool/2300-7634/) works fine.

Stopped the autorenewal last year because I don't play multiplayer enough to justify the expense. Not interested in starting to pay for it again, so that's a big minus for the Xbone.

I've played Crysis 3 to completion on ultra on 4GB, and I remember looking at its process in the task manager and it didn't use anymore RAM than what I've already stated.

You PC also has a couple of gigs of RAM on the graphics card that Task Manager doesn't account for.

What? That has nothing to do with what I said, I was talking about the system ram usage, not the VRAM.

I wasn't debating how much VRAM it uses, only system RAM. I thought that was pretty obvious as system and VRAM are always treated as separate. PCs don't use combined memory after all, well, unless you're using a laptop with integrated graphics.

It counts towards the total memory usage. Saying a game needs only two gigs of memory is misleading if it needs another two gigs that just happen to be on the graphics card. Especially if you're comparing to a machine with an unified memory architecture.

If Sony are following suit (and they probably will), it looks like I may finally catch up on my backlog.

Wasn't this already discussed in another thread? And again, just becuase they patented something doesn't mean they ever intend to implement it, it just means someone in their R&D department had an idea.
