Ah, Thanks for the replys, Yeah trying to cash in on the success of DayZ like this is a terrible thing to do.

Actually, that's kind of how the whole industry works. Find something successful and copy it / slightly alter it to try and make it better. Remember there was a time when we called all fps games "Doom Clones."

I mean, I'm not defending the misleading steam stuff or the ripping off early adopters. Valve was right to remove it, but copying another game is not doing something wrong unless you're directly ripping off their assets.

When THQ goes down I just hope someone picks up Relic intact. Other developers have been hit and miss, even Volition, but Relic is pretty consistently awesome.

@connerthekewlkid: For what it's worth, I've actually played War Z and it seems alright. Though I found it nearly impossible to get a firearm. It seemed as though anyplace that might have one was being camped out by griefers 24/7. Day Z's larger map makes it easier to get weapons before being destroyed by others. That's my only real problem with the game as it stands, or as it stood a couple months ago anyway.

Man, quotation marks are your friend. It looked like the ramblings of a mad man before I realized you were trying to quote that guy.

Anyway, I think if they are asking money for a game it's totally acceptable for someone to criticize it. I don't care if they call it a beta, it's a paid product. Reviewers are within their right to tell people if they should buy the game now. They may return to the game once it's in full release or they may not. It's a risk the developers take.

@Bocam: Shooting them, no. Editing them plus all the stuff they did last week, yes. The reason we won't see much this week is because Drew and Vinny are going to be incredibly busy. Anything that comes out will probably be stuff the others can do without them, which isn't a lot.

@Kerned: I don't think Jeff has actually played The Walking Dead, and if he did very little of it. I don't think he'll stonewall a game he hasn't really played as long as the others can give a good explanation of why it deserves to be game of the year. Also don't discount Journey. I haven't played it, but that game gets a lot of love from the guys along with XCOM and The Walking Dead.

Fez

That moment when everyone on the internet realized it wasn't just a cute simple platformer. It was released on a Friday, and that weekend we all went down the rabbit hole.

These images aren't going to win any pretty pictures contest, but I think they're kind of neat anyway. I managed to stumble across a hole in the ocean.

If you wander too far out of the hole you just end up back in the water.

I saved, exited the game, and went back there to find the hole still in the same spot. So I think it might be in every copy of the game and not just some weird bug in mine, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's below the second Island where the waypoint is on the map image above. If you manage to find it be prepared to hit that wingsuit button. It's a long fall.

I should probably finish Dark Souls before the sequel comes out, but jumping straight into a fight with Nito after not having played for a year will probably not end well. Well, it will probably end worse than normal anyway.

I'm not sure why people are responding to this list of games and saying "Oh 2012 was a bad year for games!" A lot of those games are really, really good. What would need to be on that list to make the list that much better?

People say that every year. It's all about personal preference. Just don't let it get to you.

Personally, I think it's been a great year for games. Especially downloadable games.
