I agree that it does not convey how important the satellites are in XCOM. If you're playing on Normal or lower, you should basically just satellite rush to confirm your own victory. Bogus. That was one of my biggest examples of this phenomenon over the last few years.

My actual biggest issue of this type is that I wish I knew who Geralt was before you start The Witcher 2. I was under the impression I was creating my own character, and in doing so, I created a character who would have simply exited during Act 1, either by exiling himself or by killing himself, either one. And I stopped playing as a result. If I ever play The Witcher 2 again, it'll be after I familiarize myself with the state of its world and the character of Geralt, probably by reading The Last Wish.

Did you play The Witcher (1)?

Also, I played through the entirety of Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle without realizing that you could quickly transfer items between characters by dragging the item onto the other character's portrait. I was just making trip after trip back and forth, to and from the Chron-o-john to manually ferry items between time periods. In other words, I was playing The Cave (sigh...)

Edgar Allan Poe is the shit. I don't know if a writer that primarily did short stories and poems would be a viable choice for the class you're taking, though. Regardless, I would highly recommend checking out the short story "Hop-Frog".

Is it anything like The Black Cat? I had that short story with a test and it messed with my mind a little

Not quite. I don't want to give too much away, but at its core, Hop-Frog is a revenge story. If I'm remembering The Black Cat correctly, it's more in line with The Telltale Heart as one of Poe's "otherwise minor neuroses getting people into really deep shit." And if you like that kind of thing, you should definitely check out the story "Berenice".

They should make a quick look of surgeon simulator.

They sort of did in the most recent Unprofessional Fridays (which I could see being kind of a bummer/incentive if you aren't a premium member).

I wish all articles were followed by a man in his underwear explaining the story to me.

Now that's a video game website I can get behind.

GiantThong.com

I apologize for any unfortunate mental images, but thong was the only underwear-related word I could think of that sounded anything at all like "bomb" (and even that's an awfully stretched rhyme).

I think one of the biggest things I wished I had known before playing a game is that in Dead Space 1, enemies drop ammo for only the weapons you're carrying at the time. So while I was lugging around as many weapons as I could carry in an effort to conserve ammo (or at least always have some backups when my main gun ran empty), I was actually doing the exact opposite and screwing myself over.

Sitting through a credits roll at the end of a game is one thing.

Sitting through a credits roll every time you reach an ending in a game with about a dozen different endings and is fundamentally built on the act of multiple playthroughs is quite another.

What I'm trying to say is fuck you, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward.

Thinking about that Citadel Noire thing again inspired me to make this silly thing.

This is always a fun thought experiment kind of thing. Even if you just pick completely disparate franchises and genres, it can be cool trying to imagine how it might be implemented. I've always liked the idea that's been tossed around a few times on the Bombcast of a Mass Effect spinoff mystery/adventure game revolving around C-Sec. "Citadel Noire", in other words.

And as for the crazy but potentially neat/dumb combos, the first thing that comes to my mind is some kind of Hotline Miami text adventure.
